    Pantry ventilation

During our kitchen remodel a few years back we went with a walk in pantry that’s about 8x8. The door only has about a 1/4” clearance to the floor. As the pantry stayed warmer than the house we had AC ducted to it with the company telling us it would stay cold in there since they used a dedicated...

    30amp RV on 14-50r

Questions for the electricians. I'm looking to eliminate the 50-30 adapter I use to power my 30amp trailer at home. I have an extra cord and would replace the 30amp plug with 50 amp plug, but only use 1 leg. Would that be acceptable? I'm not a fan of the adapters has they always seem to cause...

Did I purchase wrong windows, or just overthinking

I installed the smaller windows today in my garage build. My plan is to box the window with 5/4 Hardi Trim. Looking at the drain holes this would drain the window onto the top of the trim. Is that going to be an issue or just let it roll.

    Choosing lap siding size

How does one choose the reveal size of their lap siding? The few homes in my neighborhood that have it all have 6", but are typical 8' walls. Being that my walls are 12 foot, that would look to busy IMO. The plan drawings show 18 rows, which put the reveal at 8". My other option is a 10.75"...

Help decipher gable wall details for new build

So as I wait for an answer from the draftsmen/engineer that drew up my plans. I'm looking for thoughts from others concerning the required straps as I like to understand the purpose of everything. As a note I am in a 150mph wind zone. Per the plans the gable ends sheathing must be spilt between...

Above 1200 Sq/FT SW Florida 36x42x12 wood framed garage build thread

Thought I would start a separate thread showcasing my homeowner built garage in SW Florida. I would not allow myself to pay $150k for a nice sized detached garage, so updates will come as time and funds allow me to build. I've estimated costs to be around $50k 36x42x12, 2x6 studs, 10' height OH...

Quick question on Ufer rod requirements. My concrete contractor is not familiar with these so looking over codes it’s seems pretty straightforward. I purchased 25’ of sleeved 4ga wire and an approved clamp to tie into the rebar. Do I just bring the cable up in my desired location or does it...
