    Painting Motorcycles....

Thanks I'm happy with the way it came out. I'm pouring concrete this spring in my barn, and I plan on picking a small area and using Canvas Tarps, the will just roll up to get them out of the way, rather than the plastic, I think the OP is going to re-using his set up so I'd recommend canvas...

    Painting Motorcycles....

A friend of mine and I did just this on my 80 ironhead, I've got some pics, but nothing of the paint booth we set up. Basically we created a area big enough to work with heavy plastic dropped from the ceiling. We used a wall with a window, and in the opposite side, in the plastic we built a...

Why no screens on Jet engines??

Hey something I can answer, I haven't used my aerospace degree in years, so here you go. screen would cause the inlet air to have turbulence and reduce the effectiveness of the engine. I can talk about laminar boundry layer theory if you really want to. But then again maybe I've killed those...

    How many air bibs?

I've also got a 30x40 that I'll be plumbing this spring, mine is a barn and does have 2 columns running down the center, so i'll be able to center feed for both bays, and I was only going to have 3 drops, one along the back wall and 1ea. on each column.

    LAN Access in Garage

600' is a long shot. Yagi's may get you close if both are in bridge mode. 100 meters is the max for 10/100/1000 wired. Fibre ;)

    Lawn Work outside of Garage

If it's not an extremely rocky soil, I'd ammend what you have. put down a few inches of good organic material, till, rake, seed and roll it. If erosion is an issue, cover it with straw. I haven't tried any of the new hydro-seeding options so maybe I'm just out of date.

1 pleasant suprize and 1 question (Elec)

Now that's a piece of information I didn't know. I assumed that since there were two bus bars in the Main, that each bar was separate. Thanks for the information, that answers my question

1 pleasant suprize and 1 question (Elec)

I have two services to my house. It used to have an in-laws apartment, therefore the two services. I always thought they were 100 Amp services, I finally checked tonight and low and behold they're 200 Amp. :bounce: So now I'm going to be able to run the 100 Amps Sub instead of the 60 Amp like...

What unique features did you do or wish you had done when planning you garage?

The only thing I'd add to a great list is that I plan on installing a quick connect airline fitting on the outside of the garage, then hang a short piece of airline with a tire chuck next to the door. Keeps you from having to either pull stuff into the garage to air up a tire, or even to open...

    Vinyl Siding Installation ?????'s

Couple of tips, I just got done with doing my house. I used both the perforated and solid soffit. Think about using F channel up agains the house, nailing upside down under the eves can be a pain. Get the hole punch. Don't ever drive a nail directly thru the vinyl, it won't allow for...

    Had Better Days

I had half of a ~150 yr old hard maple fall on my house a few years back landed on my roof, I got lucky and it only broke a fascia board. Couldn't believe it as it was about 2' in diameter. Was lots of fun clearing off the roof. I hired a guy to take down the other half before my luck ran out.

    Running electric to detached garage

Rent a ditch witch and bury it. Otherwise you'll have to worry about it everytime you raise a ladder, or need to get something tall like a delivery truck or backhoe between the buildings.

    Sprinkler System

I used to design sprinkler systems. Unless you have anything larger than a standard service onto your property, you won't have the volume for a properly designed sprinkler system. It would be considered an industrial application and you'd probably need at least a 2½" service, unless you had...

Newbie...doing some research on future build..

I would construct the floor like you would a standard exterior wall. Probably with 2x8's on 12" oc. Sheath with an exterior grade sheathing, then a vapor barrior. then in the voids I'd use a standard insulation and on the top sheath with whatever flooring you desire.

Post a pic: Most/Least favorite thing

Most favorite thing: After 11 years of waiting, getting the shell of my 30x40 barn finished before winter. Least favorite thing. Waiting until spring in the Frigid North east waiting for weather warm enough to pour concrete for the floor. It's supposed to be a high of 12ºF this weekend
