    Sandblast cabinet help

Solved. There was a very small washer that was sucked into the gun. Small enough to get through the hose but not small enough to get through the nozzle. It was perfectly concentrically seated against the nozzle so when I saw it I assumed to was part of the assembly. Removed it and viola.

    Sandblast cabinet help

Hi all I've read the HF upgrade guides and applied them to by sandblast cabinet but I can't get it working. It might fire media for a few seconds an then stops. Setup: - large compressors (3 phase 200L tank) - Eastwood foot pedal and gun with 6mm nozzle - air mixer on the hopper -...

    Keller Die Filer

I've got a 1946 DoAll bandsaw with the same problem. I'm ditching it to put in shop air via a solenoid valve and regulator.

    Favorite Milwaukee M12 Tools?

The m12 multi-tool was the worst tool of any brand or style that I ever owned. The batteries vibrated right out of it. I lost it and was only sad as there was a battery in the back of it.

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

Was leaning towards aluminum but could do brass or steel. It's for engine oil on a race car (between a hose off the main oil lines from the block, an Accumsump and a turbo oil feed line). 150 PSI tops and only when the oil is cold. 60-70 PSI peaks at normal operation. Only needs to support the...

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

That's not going to work is it? Compound slide is needed to feed in the single point tool? Maybe I cut taper and use a 1/2 NPT die then.

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

No. Was planning on using the compound slide - the lathe has a 95mm compound slide travel. That has to be twice the thread length of a 1/2 NPT fitting.

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

Appreciate the feedback. I know it's ambitious for a beginner (tapers, external threads and off centre holding and tolerances to hold an oil sealed tight). The lathe is a 3HP, 2000 rpm 800kg machine. Operator skills aside, is it feasible? I'm definitely going to do the cube and try the T as a...

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

So I'm in Australia and we don't have such a wide access to lots of fittings (or pay triple the cost of the fitting in freight from the US). I can get a 1/2 NPT to -10 tees. That puts on -10 to -8 reducer at one end and a -10 to -6 then a -6 to -4 on the branch. Too messy. I like the threaded...

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

On review maybe the lathe order is 3, 2, and then 1. 3 and 2 both have a 37 degree flare taper so saves setting the compound slide angle again before the taper for the NPT.

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

I will be using the 4 jaw on the lathe for everything except cutting a rough T shape block on the mill first. I was worried that a bandsaw cut might be awkward to hold in the four jaw. (edited original post to say lathe for the turning - wasn't clear)

Lathe workholding and order of operations for a T fitting

Hi All I'm new to machining and wanted some advice about the best order of operations to make part. It's an oil T-fitting with three different connectors. Sketch attached. 1. Tapered 1/2 NPT 2. AN -8 3. AN -4 I'm thinking the best approach is: * Take some 25mm thick plate, cut the...

DoAll bandsaw - needs some work

I tried it once - the speed dial has the same instructions on mine. It smashed the gears so hard ended up needing to TIG weld the input selector shaft back onto the selector fork. I might try it again once I have the VFD in and try out the 'jog' function. But not anytime soon. It's safely in a...

DoAll bandsaw - needs some work

As you describe I can shift using the lever and with the saw off, being manually turned. Even with the shifting rod in position it pops out of gear when the saw is turned on and under load. I suspect that there is insufficient throw from the selecting rod to sufficiently engage the dogs. When...

DoAll bandsaw - needs some work

Time for an update... I've had the gearbox in, out and apart three times. I just can't get it to shift between gears reliably. It will either be in high and smash dogs going into low or vice-versa. With careful fiddling of the selector shaft by hand and slow manual rotation of both the input...

DoAll bandsaw - needs some work

So, the plot thickens... I took apart the gearbox. The gears are in perfect condition, no signs of wear or tooth damage. I was able to manually shift the dog to select high and low gear. It has obviously been serviced recently. The bearings are all brand-new Japanese bearings (pretty sure...
