Why does posting pictures just say "oops we encountered a problem"?

    How's my floor prep?

How's my prep? Hand troweled floor was kind of "fuzzy" and bumpy. I used an angle grinder with diamond cup wheel (yes it took forever). It's now much faster and not shiny but it feels quite smooth to the touch. Is it too smooth for a thin film coating like rust bullet? Should I do anything...

    Topical sealer after penetrative sealer

I have a 720 sq/ft garage slab that was poured 2 1/2 years ago. Really nice slab, hand troweled but smooth. I purchased Legacy Industrial HD-39 and applied it a few weeks ago. At the time I purchased the HD-39, I had intended for this to be the only product on my concrete. The HD-39 has made...

    Rockauto Brake Job Parts

Just did a full Rockauto brake job. Was disappointed with the Centric re-man brake calipers. The coating they used was so thick it filled all the threads. I had to chase them all. I have never had that experience with Cardone stuff from Advance. Not necessarily Rockauto problem, but more...

12/2 Romex in 1/2 inch PVC conduit?

Can I run NM to a junction box and then either thhn or uf? Or do I need to do all one type for the run? I'm not running the conduit to the panel, only the exterior 10ft of the run.

12/2 Romex in 1/2 inch PVC conduit?

I'm placing a 20 amp gfci outlet on the exterior of my house. The optimal location for the wire to exit the house is ten feet away from the outlet location. I was planning to use 1/2 inch sch 40pvc conduit. It will be under a deck approximately 8 inches above grade. Is this considered a wet...

What did you do to save money during your build?

Having good friends that are willing to help went a long way to helping me finish the inside of my garage. Beer, pizza and a good time hanging all night with the guys in the garage is invaluable. The wide range of skills, tools, and motivation my buddies provided made my garage possible. As...

Anyone near Milwaukee with a MaxJax or C-7000?

I'm really considering these two options. Anyone near Milwaukee/Racine/Kenosha that has one? If you would be so kind to let me see it, that would be awesome. I haven't seen any of these working or installed. Hard to make decisions without seeing the quality and functionality firsthand. I...

My folks live 1 mile west on K. I live off dunkelow by the soccer park. My old man's clock shop is right near you on Roberts St. I creeped on your profile and know right where you live! I may or may not rip down your road on my motorcycle on occasion...

Go from 40amp breaker to 50amp?

It's all 8 gauge from what I can tell. The most I can imaging using is raising the lift and having the conpressor start at the same time. The lift is 23amps and the compressor is 17.5amps. And then whatever the lights are. This would be unlikely but the most possible I would think.

    Help: Reparing grandfather clock.

My old man is a clockmaker. I'll run those numbers past him and see what he says. Any pictures of the movement? Might make it easy to point to components to turn, adjust, etc.

    New guy from Wisconsin

Hello Garage Journal. I've been lurking here a while and occasionally asking some questions. I can't thank you guys enough for the help you've provided. My garage and house projects have required me to learn basically everything from scratch, a lot of which I've learned here. I'm a young guy...

Go from 40amp breaker to 50amp?

The subpanel has: 50 amp main 15 amp 110v (lights) 20 amp 110v (outlets) 20 amp 220v (compressor) 30 amp 220v (welder/lift) Not looking to add anymore than that. Maybe I should remove some if 40 amps isn't enough???

Go from 40amp breaker to 50amp?

The NM-b runs from the house panel to a junction box by the riser. It is connected to wires labeled THHN I believe. Those run about 60ft underground in PVC conduit maybe a foot deep or so.
