Do you recall the model of the one you used? What kind of floor coating did you put down?

    Floor Grinding Prep

Thanks FJ…do you think I can get 2000 sq ft done with one set of grinding inserts, or will I likely need 2 sets?

    Floor Grinding Prep

Making plans to do a full flake polyaspartic job to the floor of my pole barn here soon, 2,000 square feet (40x50). The Edco dual disk grinder is the largest floor grinder that any of my local Sunbelts carry...

    Quality Moisture Barrier Primer Suggestions

I am planning on doing a full flake polyaspartic coating on my pole barn floor within the next few months. I'm also planning on using a moisture barrier primer as the first coating. Would the moisture barrier primer replace the first coat of polyapartic, or do you still do the typical 1st...

    Liquid Vapor Barrier Primers

Update..... I taped down half a dozen plastic sheets two nights ago. Yesterday we got about another 3 inches of rain, with the ground already saturated, water laying everywhere outside. It is typically drier around here than this, we have had more rain than usual over the last couple months. I...

Polyurea or Polyaspartic as base coat?

That's some good information, appreciate the responses. You guys are likely correct about the fast cure time of polyapsartic allowing them to do multiple jobs a day, although I am going to have a vapor barrier primer used on my floor as the first layer, so the 1 day install is going out the...

Polyurea or Polyaspartic as base coat?

I've spoken to numerous local companies that do full fleck floor coatings in Polyurea/Polyapartic. Pretty much all of them use polyaspartic as the top clear coat, but I'm getting contrasting opinions about the tinted base coat. The largest and most notable company in my particular area told me...

    Liquid Vapor Barrier Primers

I posted a recent thread on polyuria/polyaspartic floor coatings. Looks like I have at least some minimal moisture issues along the expansion cuts during times of excessive heavy rain. I'm doing the plastic sheet test now in various locations, and I'll be conducting calcium chloride tests in...

    Garage Floor Coating Estimates

I received quotes from about half a dozen local floor coating companies recently. Quotes were for my pole barn, 2,000 square foot. Two of the quotes came in about $6 a square foot, and the rest of them went up from there. This was for a full flake polyurea/polyaspartic coating, grinded before...

    Floor coatings and moisture

Yeah, it was only half that to pour my current slab last summer.

    Floor coatings and moisture

I had a local company that does polyuria coatings come out and look at my slab. They used a moisture meter to check the floor in various locations, and their readings varied from 4.5% to 6%. They recommended using a liquid vapor barrier primer as the first coat, and said there shouldn't be a...

    Floor coatings and moisture

Thanks… I’ll work on getting it tested to determine the MVT. Let me ask though, acid staining with some kind of clear top coat is another option I have considered. Is that something I could do, or would I run into the same problems that polyurea would have if there is some moisture occasionally...

    Floor coatings and moisture

Thanks for the response. I’m pretty certain there isn’t an issue with moisture in the slab, other than where the expansion lines are cut. Pretty sure they cut all the way through the concrete pad and got the poly liner, as the only moisture seen so far has been along the expansion joint lines...

    Floor coatings and moisture

So, let’s say theoretically that you do a full fleck polyurea coating to a floor during a dry period where the concrete is completely dry. Then at a later time there is a moisture issue from excessive rain, dampness or some other reason. What happens to the coating? Does it start peeling up?

    Floor coatings and moisture

Is there something that can be poured in the expansion joints to prevent moisture from coming up through the expansion cuts? I believe I read that some recommend filling in the expansion lines prior to coating the floor anyway.

    Floor coatings and moisture

Hi guys, I had my pole barn built last Summer, concrete was poured last August. I had a 15mm vapor barrier put down under the concrete to mitigate moisture issues. The floor has been completely dry throughout the Winter except for where the expansion cuts were made in the concrete. We have a had...

    DIY floor grinding/Full flake polyurea

Would this grinder be a good choice to do 2,000 sq/ft? In other words, would it be sufficient to do the job in a fairly timely manner, or would I want something larger? I would also have to buy the diamond inserts. Would one set be enough to do the entire floor...

    DIY floor grinding/Full flake polyurea

Is there a reason not to use a gas powered grinder? Working on getting electric installed now, but will probably be a few weeks until it is completed and in service. Is there a specific grinder model number anyone can recommend? Looking for the best I can get to make this as easy as possible.
