    Tools from the old world

Monte, great photos as ever :) I'm sure I have some of those Stanley screwdrivers under another branding, but I can't remember who! I have to point out my great appreciation to NWS. After I snapped the tip off my pliers pulling an r-clip out I bought another set, but thought I'd drop an email...

    Tools from the old world

Thanks for the link dave26, I'll have a look! I have my current metric set for the very small and very large sizes, so a Stahlwille set covering the core sizes would be ideal

    Tools from the old world

Where's that from? :D £80 is more in the region of what I paid for my AF set. I've never seen a Metric set, or set made from individuals, that low.

    Tools from the old world

Thank you. That is the place I bought my AF set from, but I haven't checked back there in ages. I think come pay day I'll have a matching metric set :D

    Tools from the old world

That's a really good comparison photo. I have inch sizes in 14 series and absolutely love them. I have looked for a matching metric set but can only find 13. Those photos make me definitely want to hold out for a 14 set, even if I get them individually. I've not really found a situation...

How do you keep your tools organized, when working from the floor

I use a cat litter tray too. I only have a single garage, so while the the car is on there on stands, I have to refurb the subframes out on the drive. Wandering around the shops at the weekend, found big litter trays for a pound each, so grabbed too, one for tools, and one for parts as I strip...

    Tools from the old world

I think I need some new needle nose pliers. Pulling a pin and suddenly it let go, and something flew past my head. Tip of my lovely NWS pliers! Snapped tip by bcjamesmini, on Flickr

    Halfords tools

Their pro stuff is rebranded Gearwrench level stuff for the most part. I have some of it I keep in a mobile box for on the road. It's not bad, well priced, and comes with a lifetime warranty. I was given a set of their screwdrivers for free when I bought some oil last week, marked made in...

My main hammers are a 32oz ball pein and a No.2 Copper. I really don't use my deadblows much.

UK 2 Car Garage Beautification - Step 1: Blank canvas

That's a nice garage for over here! Some good plans, looking forward to seeing this come together. At the moment I can only dream of getting out of this single garage!

    Sleepless nights

I have a fair few sleepless nights as a side-effect of other things :( If I really can't sleep, sometimes I'll stick the laptop on, do something semi-productive. Being in the UK, this is a good site to go on, since when I should be asleep, you lot are awake!

What do you use to clean your toolbox?

Mine doesn't get too mucky, so I just use an AG or Megs detailing spray as per the cars.

    Imperial or metric?.

Some of my Minis left the factory with Imperial, Metric and Whitworth on them. Throw in a few threads in Whitworth special form and it's great fun! The moggy I had used several systems pre metric.

What kind of breaker bar do you use?

18" Snap-on 24" Halfords Pro (that's a UK shop). I can get a lot more torque down on the longer bar, but it does flex a bit, so I think an SO 24" is on the cards!
