    Shopping at Harbor Freight

Re: Shopping at Harbour Freight Don't worry about it. You're not missing out on any thing. There are some decent buys at Harbor freight, along with a bunch of junk, and lately even a few decent tools that are way over priced. But there are no must haves at Harbor freight. I think you guys in...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Those polish vises are very nicely made. I used to have one, and was very impressed with it. I can't tell you a whole lot about them, but I did a little digging when I first found mine. FPU was the maker, and I believe they are still making vises of this type today. They were imported by several...

Yes, basic, but very nice IMO. They fit my hands very well. I have them stamped Blackhawk, Challenger, and Challenger/Proto.

    Challenger Tools

Well now you've gone and confused me, LG. I thought Challenger replaced Fleet as Proto's value line, but your post indicates that Challenger was a Proto line at least as early as 1940. How exactly did Fleet fit into things. Challenger and Fleet were the same tools right down to the part numbers...

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

I haven't been able to get out to many sales this year, and haven't found much when I did, but the last couple weeks have been good. Here are my finds from a couple weeks ago. At the first sale I spent $28 and came home with a brand new set of German made Dewalt drills, a set of US made Blu-...

    School me on vises

The short answer to your question is any American made machinist vise. Here is a great thread on vises. Post #2 discusses different brands. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62716 There is really nothing special about Wiltons IMHO. They are nice, but so are Parkers, Morgans...
