Work as a fleet mechanic for a logging company in northern ca. 20+kenworth log trucks,12+gmc "crummies" and an unknown amount of logging equipment (bulldozers,skidders,hot saws, delimbers etc). Mostly work on trailers and basic stuff on the trucks while I try and learn more about diesel motors...

i don't have one personally...yet. a coworker had 2 old chicago pneumatic and just bought a new 3/4 ingersoll rand. the shop also bought a 3/4 ir for the service truck as well. another coworker has a blue point 3/4 and my other coworker has an old ir rebrand from mac i think? im working on...

i own some snappy fdp and they are awesome. the one downside i really dont like is how thin they are. Ive contemplated mac knucklesavers but change is scary so for now i just grimace every time i use my wrenches with an impact...don't forget that outside of the fantasy land that is garage...

I have a set in sae and love them. They are my goto set. They obviously wont replace deep or shallow entirely but if I need a socket and it doesn't need to be either deep or shallow I just grab those...perfection.:drool:

Why do you want to lube up the ratchet?unless its not ratcheting properly I wouldn't mess with it it should come prelubed.just use it constantly and you will be fine.im sure the oem lube that came in my ratchet has been replaced with a diesel,coolant,gear oil,atf and various other chemical...

mac has a line of sockets that has these little ridges in the center of the "flank" if you will allegedly they are able to take off damn near fully rounded bolts. it looks like snap on flank drive plus but in a socket.i think they are made in taiwan but they seem legit. a coworker has a metric...

working on heavy trucks its mostly standard but lately i have noticed a lot of metric stuff has been appearing...

i used to have all craftsman in torx and hex. now i have a collection of cornwell and napa stuff.the napa stuff i got on sale just recently and they work daily with so far no issues. btw i think the napa stuff is rebranded gearwrench or maybe its the other way around either way they look the same.

for one to three trucks ask your snappy man if he has a used 3/4 gun.il be honest with you in my shop it is a mix of snap on cornwell and ir guns and if you ask each guy he will claim that he has never EVER oiled his gun he uses his gun 36 hours a day and he claims to tighten down truck lugnuts...

just an update i bought a box of ravens from napa and i love them. they are only 6 mil thick but they are surprisingly rip resistant. thanks for all the suggestions :3gears:

i agree with you on the instincts i love my instincts but on my ratchets i prefer the hard handles because they are easier to clean and dont get torn apart as easy.before i switched over to hard handles my soft handles were all torn up and nasty and i only had them for a few weeks my dealer was...

snap on, blue point, napa, cornwell, craftsman, harborfreight, evercraft, knipex, channellock, otc, no name stuff,and ingersoll rand theres probably more but this should do for now

Whatever you do don't get brake cleaner anywhere near that green handle. I did on my new handle for my 1/2 in ratchet it immediately melted off the snap on logo and seemed to "melt" the handle just a bit. Sorry to get off course just a warning from somebody who learned the hard way

RalloZ the ones we use at work are light blue I can't think of the name ill check tonight.Lennox when I fiery saw the price for a case I flipped out I thought that's how much per box they wanted. I think I will try the ravens first and then maybe those black mass form dash. Thanks again guys
