Some of my favorite sockets, especially with a smooth Plomb ratchet and metal case, for $5 is definitely a green light. Nice find.

It's rare to find this much Starrett in such a short while. The other chore is getting rid of the 600 pounds of lead I found there:beer:

There ARE people who will buy it out there. Is it in pigs? Metallic lead isn't very toxic by itself.

Dammmmmnnnn! I'm lucky to find some roll flashing lead at yard sales! Any idea what those were? Almost looks like they were lead bricks used as some sort of shielding.

The small anvil is cast and is marked JSB. The larger one is much better quality and has layers of paint over a small oval label. I'm trying to removed the paint now and see what it says. It's weighs 8.5 lbs.

BC I'm 99% certain JSB is a Japanese co. I have two of those that are probably identical with yours. One was my Dad's and I know it's as old or older than I am, (but post WWII)

BC, is it soft (relatively) pure lead, or alloy? might be good for bullet making; or if Linotype, cutting with pure lead for bullet alloy.:thumbup::thumbup:

Hi Outlaw,

This is going back a few weeks, sorry, but I'm thinking that "Mastery Quality" DOE was made by Bridgeport Hardware and Manufacturing. (They did make MQ wrenches for Ward's, but they marked them Ward's.) It should have a BHM logo (all on top of each other) above the ISN, in quote marks, on the flip side. What are the sizes?

And what are the sizes and markings on the Barcalo?

If you're not attached to either, I may be interested in buying them, depending on the sizes and markings.

Sorry for the delayed response, and I think I have a PM from you I owe you a reply on, but some questions can take time to find the items in question.

The Barcalo has "Barcalo Buffalo U.S.A", on the raised panel and 19/32 & 1/2 on the ends on one side, and "25" on one end on the other the raised panel on that side is blank.

and the "Master Quality has grown legs? I can't find it just now... (I may have used it somewhere and... :dunno: )

I passed up a number of coffee cans with the hard, zinc/antimony blended stuff and got just the pure lead. You can drop a cube on the pile and it hardly makes a noise unlike the alloy stuff that pings. It's good soft lead

The guy that lived there did Linotype many years ago. I'm not sure what this stuff is from but no matter, it's mine

Two sales this morning, zilch for tools but I found a cool display glass for $1.50 just like the one that I got from my grandpa that holds his railroad pocket watch in. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1422133434.634491.jpg

That grinder for $25 is SCORE!!

I went to a sale and got a bunch of stuff, here is a overall picture.
img_3234.jpg

I got some respirators and a bunch of new filters for projects and such, a bunch of staples for a staple gun I have, and some 500W halogen bulbs.
img_3235.jpg

More filter cartridge, and regular dust mask.
img_3236.jpg

Coleman lantern with pyrex globe, looks in good shape just been sitting for a long time.
img_3237.jpg

img_3238.jpg

Another respirator and cartridge, some tape, squares, cutting torch tips unused, vise grips clamps, small dietz no.50 lantern, Brillo pads, and red rags,
img_3239.jpg

I got a LOT of saws all blades, different types and teeth counts, I shouldn't have to buy anymore for awhile!!
img_3240.jpg

img_3241.jpg

img_3242.jpg

And some hand tools, mixture of SK, craftsman, wilton c-clamp, snap on, cornwell, and a dayton breaker bar.
img_3244.jpg

Oh and 2 boxes of utility blades,
img_3245.jpg

Gave $100 for it all.

OK, I seem to have broken the January slump, but just barely! :willy_nil

I stopped yesterday on the way home from work and got a few things at one in my town. I was one of two buyers he had all day... :dunno: I spend $20 there.

A pair of Wiss "Specials" (for SS and heavier gauge metal) and a pair old Wiss inlaid alligator "7's", 8" 3/4" drive Proto Extension, an odd body work dolly marked Porter Ferguson JD-6, ans not pictued a small SO "O-ring pick" P/N 3ash45h
attachment.php

The 2 PB Hammers, a 20 oz. Blue Point, and a nice but unmarked 32 oz. and lastly a 24" bar clamp marked "LUSI" (Italian?) never seen one, but seems to be good quality.
attachment.php

Today sucked till the end. all the drive by's had nothing worth getting and the one on my list locally were" Yes we have tools, lots and lots of tools but way back in the pile" "So later today?" "No probably in about three weeks!" :eyecrazy:

Because things were so dry locally, I drove 11 miles (well out of my normal range) and went to an "estate sale", and hit what could have been the mother lode! I was restrained though because while they were selling off 60 years of tool collecting the knew some were worth some $$, and I even asked if they any any bigger vises, that he one exposed screw on the drive and was told that sold yesterday to a neighbor...

I should have take pics, but hindsight is 20-20; There were simply boxes and boxes of tools, most very clean, almost no rust, and many old turn of the century adjustable, braces, saws, a wide variety of tools, but mostly, not automotive. Some wrenches and sockets, but not a ton. I was pretty selective in what I got, but did well I think!

from loose tools here and there:

Proto ignition wrench, Thorsen 11 MM, Plvmb DBE, old hex drive ratchet, 2lb engineer's, hammer, a pump (needs a leather cup, which I think I have) leather stretcher - Pat 1887!, Bemis &Call adj, and a pair of mini tongs - I also had a "Superwrench" ignition wrench, but I think its dropped in the rig...

attachment.php

I saw this right off the bat and asked how much, and that was part of why I was selective, but wound up with it anyway!
attachment.php

Inside was all Long C Craftsman ratchet sets! nearly complete on sockets, and possibly over complete om the rest as there are dupes, including 3 long C ratchets! At Last! :rocker:

attachment.php

And a few non-Long C sockets, mostly Craftsman, but one Williams one Champion and one no name.

attachment.php

Total at the estate sale today? $70! barely $1 a tool! :bounce:

Oooh, looks/sounds like possible Snap On. I have some Ford factory stamped tools of theirs. I take it that is a hex to square drive plug then.

First stop was a guys barn... been talking to him for a week now, he made it sound like he had a ton of stuff.... ehhh, not really, but is supposedly cleaning out his machine shop so I guess we'll see what else he finds. Didn't do bad, but not great...

Not crazy about the amount of files... but eh. Also, not pictured, a plastic 4 shelf storage thingie, and a sweet old firemans axe.

Second stop, a CL find for a "craftsman-like" box... don't know why he just didn't post a Huot, but whatever. It's an awesome box, I want to keep it but have no idea where I'd use it at this point. Maybe sell my CMan machinist box after I clean this up? No idea... anyway, here's the box:

An 11-drawer 26" wide beast! Damn this thing is heavy! Oh, and came with tools too:

Well thats most of it, bunch of other stuff in the box still.

Yep! Hex to square! P/N is R . 716 if that helps.

Nice. Definitely a snap on wrench then.

Rick nice Huot box. I'm picturing the seller saying "So it's not a Craftsman, you say it's called a WHO?WHAT? box then?".

From last Sunday:, hit up a junk shop and picked a few tools for 8 bucks.

Klein & Utica pliers, Craftsman drivers, Proto pipe wrench. Jabba at an antique shop nearby for 5 bucks, couldn't resist.
More finds from today to come.
