Here is the tool portion of my finds today. The rest, which filled up the truth was all reloading stuff like presses, ammo and loading components.

I'm going back tomorrow for more:D

Plomb combo wrench
Plomb offset DBE wrench
Plomb mini slotted screwdriver
Plomb 1/4" driver
P&C 3/8" to 1/4" adaptor
Desert water bag
1/2" NPT tap
Plumb axe
Plumb hammer with script loge. Never seen one before but it looked neat
Stanley corner clamp
Stanley no 400 miter clamp, not pictured. It was still in the truck
Stanley tape measure
Box of half round/barrel files

Metal nail advertising sign

Nice pickings so far guys.
Another busted weekend for me here.
There was a large vise in a picture in an estate sale listing, but they sold it last night for $40.
I wasn't even able to identify what I missed out on.

Craftsman 1/2" ratchet and some metric wrenches and an SK 1/2" ratchet.

SK locking extension and tiny crescent adjustable.

$5 for all of it!

Then this little propane cylinder. Needs a repaint but only cost me a buck.

Nice scores guys! I'll post mine later I'm just taking a break from working on the rig. (Fixed a vent "full tank" fuel leak. need to go do the front brakes, and finish getting Lithium grease between those rusty spring leaves - one down three to go...)

GP: light touch on a Fine wire wheel on that surface rust on the Hex bit sockets. and I have a couple of those smaller Prop tanks, great for camping...

Rusty: I think those translucent grips are 50's or 60' aftermarket; and yes, RR track Anvil. The Herbrand is just what is says and yes automotive, as "back in the day" a lot of plugs had square drive

Just got back from the flea market held at one of the drive-in theatres around here. My plan was to buy a few cheapo screwdrivers for work (we use 'em for everything but driving screws so they get lost/destroyed quickly) but the vendor who usually has a bunch wasn't there today. Picked up the wrenches and pliers for $14 and thought I was about to get outta there without spending too much money when I saw the Milwaukee. It wasn't staying lifted at first, but after fiddling with the release screw and the two nuts on the release needle I got it to work right, which killed any reservations I had about spending $50 on another jack after buying a US-made Snap-On YA642 a few weeks ago. The release screw has a pin that keeps it from unscrewing fully, turns out this had broken and let the whole thing screw itself apart, so I made a new pin out of a brake shoe retaining pin.

The Channellocks are also kinda neat, dunno if those jaws are factory but they sure look handy.

Another weekend, another sale. SWMBO asked me to find one close to her office, and suggested we both go before her first appointment! :bounce:

Here's what we got for $130 (apologies for the blurry pix--they always look good on the phone when I take them):

One external frame backpack, a mess kit, a metal water bottle, an EMS candle lantern and a vintage Optimus 8R liquid fuel camp stove, made in Sweden in like-new condition.
9295a1550256823a2d10da7f1820de91.jpg

Two 5-ft Pony pipe clamps, three 36"x3/8" threaded rods with unions, two Asian 24" pipe wrenches, two tubing benders, a Stanley masonry hammer, no-name fencing pliers, large ball peen, slightly rusty Vise-Grip brand pliers, big Craftsman screwdriver, Craftsman 3/8" VM ratchet, a small crowbar, two big boxes of coated deck screws, a box of drywall screws, a box of 3/8" washers, a big bottle of WD-40 and two 9-drawer metal cabinets.
c7e1186427b7f85522a7e16af3698a51.jpg

The Lincoln AC-225 looks like it was used maybe once. It came with gloves, cheapo helmet, a 20-ft heavy duty 220V extension cord and a big tube of welding rod.

This set of precision centering punches, with one size missing. Does anyone know what these are used for?

I've been looking for a machine vise for my drill press. This Jet one fits nicely.

Two wood planes, one a no-name and one a French Goldenberg, looking unused.

I had to dive deep into a musty basement and remove these two cabinets from a stack of hanging shelves, surrounded by junk. They came with everything in them, to include a few drawers full of fine calligraphy and writing leads....

...some fishing gear, to include two nice Shakespeare brand fly reels...

...molding head cutters, deburring tool, B&D steel drill bits, mini brass and steel wire brushes, three different sized drum sanders (not pictured), and a pile of other smalls that I'm still sorting through.

You guys have been killing it. Some really nice scores. I went to 5 sales and picked up these items. The drafting set is Charvoz, the Snap On sockets are metric and brand new, the carving tools are Mifer and the I think the mallets are Lignum Vitae they are stamped Haiti I ended up paying $35 for everything.

bluebomber..... i believe those are called transfer punches.

:+1: transfer or pattern punches: you have something with hole sin it already, you want to duplicate the pattern: clamp in place, find a tight fitting punch for the holes, and Wham-Bam thank you ma'am, you are ready to drill. VERY handy in Fab work.

(I'm on another break, had to repack wheel bearings as well on the left side...)

BB, that Optumus SHOULD be a white gas (Coleman fuel) stove. I have one identical. Those work EXTREMELY well, but are noisy as all get out. The pump (you have a pump?) is for priming only generally, unlike a Coleman the heat keeps it with enough pressure for the most part.

I mention the fuel as many European single burners are NOT gas, they use alcohol...

BTW lighting it is a bit of an adventure:

set it up, get a little pressure in the tank:

  • Open the valve until you seen fuel collecting in then bottom "drip tray", this is what it is for...
  • You shut the valve off and light the fuel in the drip tray.
  • When it is almost out, crack the valve open again and nurse it until the primer fuel is gone, and it is burning well.

The ritual is for preheating the burner head assembly so you get vapors and not raw fuel up there,

Got a early start this mornin'......stopped by the BK and got 2 chicken-n-chesse croissants (I'm a growin' boy :bounce:) had my big mug of coffee....started out to find the deals......

......I made about a 30 mile loop that normally has lots of yard sales, but today....NOTHING!!! (I followed a couple dead end signs that were from sales weeks ago )

Heading back to the house on a back road about 2 miles from my neighbourhood was a yard sale sign that said "TOOLS!".....:rocker:....hurried and parked and rushed up to the tables.......there were a couple of cheap pocket knives, a half broken torpedo level, old B&D drill and jigsaw (the old tan colored ones) and the items I picked up in the pictures.....

I gave a buck for everything then headed home! :wtf:

Magnetic bar and two SS rulers....

Thanks for the pointers, Outlaw! We briefly considered putting it up on Ebay, but decided to keep it for cold weather camping.

You made the right choice on the jack, my favorite jack actually over the Snap on / walker units. The release setup is goofy in that it never really tightens against a hard wall. It just takes some time getting used to. If you send milwaukee your serial number they can give you an approx age. Yours looks around the same as mine which was states to be 70's 80's. :headscrat

Here's. What I've picked up over the last few weeks.
Some Craftsman tool grease, a couple CM drill chucks, a 0-1/4" drill Chuck on a Jacobs straight. Thought this would be nice for using my smaller bits in mr drill press.

Finally found a IR 2135 1/2" impact.

OK not done on the rig, but done for today.

It's picking up a bit today compared to the past month:

Friday was a good omen as the Buck 110 folder with the busted tip came back. looks brand new, and the blade is brand new! It was fully polished on the brass - it looks off on the right end, but that is from me and my acidic fingerprints... (just since last night, so I'l hit it with Mothers and that lasts quite well)

attachment.php

First yard sale was the Bonney 1/4" ratchet, an SK Stubby, (marked france so Facom? :dunno: ), and a Matco hose decoupler thingy... Buck and a half

The rest was from an Estate sale, run buy the family and OMG what a bunch or offensive "rules" nazis...

In any case, an AC/DC high speed motor. a small fan blade, and two handles. Three Bucks.

attachment.php

Yardsale 2 had all the tools gone before I got there, but I did get that small pocket watch in the glass dome case for $5. another buck for the candle stick and candles. I'll have to get better pics of the watch as I suspect that is the score of my day...

attachment.php

Yard sale #4: ten bucks for Surgical scissors. Plvmb combo Proto DOE Cornwell Combo, 2 Craftsman; the old push drill, and a newer "fathers day Special" I wanted for using as a handle in larger chisels, Diamond Duck Bills, and a TrueFit DBE.

attachment.php

I came home and went back out for the late openers :wtf: 10 am? :dunno: Seven bucks for the body hammer (looks Plvmb/Proto, but no markings and not a hexagon handle...), A really nice brass backed Sheffield Cast Steel Saw: J. Beardson & Son. - For all that rust it's ****** sharp!; A Leatherman sheath, and a rosewood? handled multitool. I've seen one or two surface here, so now I have one! :D

attachment.php

The last two yard sale: $3 for a box of Square nails for my daughter and I to make stuff out of, and 4 silver plate soup spoons for my camp set for a buck.

Picked up a Rockwell drill press, metal parts bin (loaded with parts), Alltrade 3/4" drive set (Japanese manufacture), Greenfield MA tap and die set, full set of 1"+ drill bits and assorted wire wheels. All for under 300. I LOVE the drill press.

Still early in the season for my area, but I did manage to pick up a couple of items.

Pictures 1 & 2: Bought this Black and Decker value grinding cabinet off craigslist for 25 dollars. The cabinet is pretty good condition for its age (I am thinking it is from the around the 1950s). The body is solid with no dents, however the top drawer needs a little work, there should be some hangers on each side, and it is missing the wheels.

Picture 3 & 4: There was a moving sale that advertise tools, but I didn't get there until around 3 pm. This Greenlee model 849 PVC pipe bender was 10 dollars. At that price, I didn't even haggle.

Picture 5 & 6: This was the best buy of the day, Ridgid Model 700 electric pipe threader. It works great and I got it for 40 dollars.

Striper:

You scored on the drill press, that aint no avg. 15" bench top drill press with 6" drill depth; nice find. They have a nice big table. One of the nicest bench top drill press you can ever find.

I think you maybe surprised that the vise is probably in better shape than it looks. If the pin comes out easily and the rear jaw swings then your in great shape, does look like the jaws needs replacing, not a real biggy (Hit up GJ member KMScott for new set) and the swivel base appears to been welded. I think it's an "American Scale" vise.

And the cabinet as well. I'm jealous

That black and decker cabinet was very close to me here in Pittsburgh.

Did you travel up here for it or was there another one for sale?

Joe, Nice score on the DP. is the counterbalance a weight or a spring?

I forgot this First aid kit in the rig today. Another think I got on Round two today while on the parts run. Two Bucks " 'cause it's not cleaned up.." - OK!

This is the same size box as last week only this one is oriented "portrait" and is blue, and last weeks was "Landscape" in White.

And some closeups of the watch. I need to work on better shots of the Proof marks inside the cover (Struggling with lighting tonight):

Here is one big item from this morning that might be making a permanent stay in the garage and uprooting the craftsman I bought a few weeks ago:lol_hitti

We hit 3 stops and I loaded up but not everything was tool related. Lots of gun stuff and other great items. I'll post more later this afternoon

Bigcaddy,

I'm jealous, those are really hard to come in such great shape and looks complete with both tool rests. The two lighted eye shields are the best part and the biggest score. I bet that grinder will look stunning when restored.

Between you and Striper, I'm getting really jealous

I'm jealous

Thanks Mcgee. I appreciate the vote of confidence and love how the head works. The table is pristine. I'm getting a Bridgeport vise for the table that I wont need to bolt down. The reverse is WAY cool. The cabinet is loaded.

I'm always worried when I come across stuff I haven't seen before and the DP and bench it is on was $200, which is more than I normally spend but the 3/4 hp motor was a big sales point for me as well.

VA grouseman wants the vise so I will try to get it cheap and send it out. The jaws look good. He had a ton more stuff but how much can I spend? Seriously.

Some other stuff was a Craftsman Black 1950s floor model drill press with 2 axis work table attached ($125) that I'll buy and an all aluminum high speed buffer that was a straight shaft. Also had 2 sets of HIT combination wrenches with a zero backlash non ratchet on the box end. Really cool and still in their presentation boxes...$40 each set. $104 each new on Amazon.

He also has a second cabinet that is missing a drawer and no big door that is loaded that he wants $25 for. Also TONS of GIANT clamps ($1 each most are missing their pads) and giant pipe cutters. Boxes and boxes of grinder wheels for 4" grinders. Just too much stuff...
