Bubinga, I meant to ask about that pattern makers box when you last posted it, mind getting a pic of the insides?
ok, I'll get some when I go back down.
I didn't do anything to the inside, But It was In OK shape,
Had some lifting to the top veneer, got it on e bay, he said there was only one little spot, and you couldn't tell in the pictures, but there was a lot of lifted veneer. I had to do a lot of sanding after the glue up of the top veneer, but was lucky to not have sanded through.
And there was damage to the back, I let it go, but he never showed it.
And he didnt show the front panel, but said it was perfect, there was a nice chip out of the top. I fixed it though, I ripped a piece off the top, and glued a piece in. the color match is poor, but I let it go for now.
I ended up getting $125.00 back though, but I forget what I paid total,
$300.00 before the refund I think.

Picked ups some Craftsman Crown stuff for my collection along with other stuff.

Estate sale items from a week ago, nice little haul. $53 total.
Crown rotary planer for radial arm saw (RAS). Craftsman drill chuck for RAS, Crown sanding disk for table saw or RAS, Crown saw blade and router bit booklets.

The little aluminum box peeking out on the far left had a Craftsman Crown retractable box knife, Crown easy outs in the little yellow package, Coca Cola bottle opener and other odds and ends.

The Craftsman Crown toolbox had a 1/2" flying "V" selector ratchet, =V= extensions, the skinny bar to turn a breaker bar into a T-handle, Craftsman ratcheting offset screwdriver, Craftsman Pearlitic C-clamp, Proto adjustable wrench, Allen USA 3/8 ratchet and other odds and ends.

LOL I was doing some cleaning up and found the rest of the stuff from the $53 haul. Oops.

"Hell Box" for hardware, stuffed full, K-D 4 pc screwdriver, Falstaff bottle opener, Craftsman NOS battery charger clamps and Crown label drill bit set, grommet kit, Stevens Waldens 1/4 drive kit with added Boker pliers and Meteor wrenches, tool roll with Waldens Spin Tite nutdrivers including a 9/16, need to find a 1/2" which I might have.

A couple of friends and went to a massive junk pile sale just around the corner from my house and it was a blast. Tons of great stuff that you really had to dig to find. I did pretty well and might go back for some second day deals.

Here are the large tool items/electrical power stuff

Ilco mini mite key cutter
Foredom drill with flex shaft and 1/4" Jacobs Chuck
Unknown lathe tail stock with a ready tool live center. It looks to be 3T or 2T
Rockwell 8" 4 jaw chuck

Some nice finds today.
First sale, family estate sale. I just missed out on the big toolboxes.
I spent $22.50 total.
Guy said nothing much in the outside shed but I wanted to look anyway. Picked up both ammo boxes and the red and gray box for $2.50 each.

Red and gray boxes had LOTS of chisels and punches, most were Proto or Snap On, some Kraeuter, Craftsman and others. Stanley wood chisels, small C-clamps, Vaughn mini pry bar, drill bits, Craftsman vintage tape measure and other odds and ends.

Ammo cans had several like new circuit breakers, fence hardware and other odds and ends.

In the house I found Coleman mini propane bottles, mint looking Rayovac and Eveready flashlights, Liquid Wrench lube, big box of rubber bands, Challenger toolbox with Blackhawk, Craftsman, Challenger, Proto, Snap On, Thorsen including the open ratchet, Walden 1/4" ratchet and Wizard sockets. Plus and old floor nail puller Petersen welding vise grips.

At the other sale the garage was empty of tools. :( Then I found the tools were all in the laundry room. Craftsman Crown level and Dunlap pipe wrench made in Germany pre-WWII. $8.

And after a good breakfast got home and sold $100 of stuff off of Craigslist :willy_nil

Found one sale this morning. Father of a guy who's son cleans out houses and runs a shop. He gives his father most of the small stuff and tools. Got the 4" clamp spool of lamp cord and NOS wire nuts for $5. The wire nuts even have a little wrench inside for tightening them. Never seen that before.
EDIT: Upon closer examination the clamp appears to be NOS as well. Not a single mark or scratch on it but it just has a thin layer of surface rust.

I also found this old Camillus knife at the bottom. Figure that's worth the ten bucks alone.

At least. That is a US Army Signal Corps electrician's knife from the late 40's or early 50's. They didn't badge them like that until after WW2. During WW2 they embossed the "TL-29" right into the wooden scale. If someone else already replied, please excuse the redundancy.

Hit a few sales this morning and picked up these items for $55. A Yankee ratcheting hand drill, Reed vise, Craftsman block grinder with sanding disk attachment, Craftsman sockets and a few wrenches, Williams, Thorsen, Billings and the ones with the W inside a diamond.

The < W > USA wrenches are also Williams.

Great score guys!

BC, if you don't have one already, you will LOVE that Foredom! Cool collet set and Plomb puller, that DBE is HUGE, you did well!

GP, what's the wrench look like, I never saw one either that I'm aware of.

BB, All kinds of good stuff! Those Craftsman hold downs go for good money on the bay, I have a set(unboxed) that I was considering selling.

nperkins, that Lista is freaking sweet! What are the rough dimensions?

4runner, love the grinder, can't believe you got the attachment AND the factory end cap. They are usually lost or misplaced when removed.

Y'all did well!

Thanks Nine4! I had an earlier foredom drill that was belt driven and was attached to a huge articulating framework. It was a pain so I sold it. This new one is nice nough that I might end up keeping it

I can make enough on the other parts I bought today and not worry about losing any money.

Today's score

Milwaukee Sawzall - Seller said it just died one day as he was using it. Picked it up for $10.00. Brought it home and the switches and relay were caked in drywall dust. Cleaned everything up and it fired right up.

Also picked up a 3/8 breaker bar, Craftsman 1/2 drive 7/8 socket, 1/2" brand new extension and a 4' crow bar (Not Shown) for $3.00

Also picked this up.

Sony 5.1 Surround with a powered sub. $20.00 - Original asking price.
Already installed into the garage and it sounds amazing.

Sigh. Another dry weekend here outside of Boston. I am having a little luck selling some of my finds on Ebay, but don't see anything worth running after tomorrow. Maybe I've been jaded by too many obvious honey holes earlier this year (I love it when they show pics of a basement packed with tools, junk, and cobwebs!).

Good hunting to the rest of you guys.

LOTS of scores! Bubinga, is the pattern makers box a Gerstner?

We are expecting a storm and rain tonight/tomorrow, so I'm not expecting much, despite any listings...

Bubinga, that thing is nice!! Great job on the repairs!!

Rain here this weekend as well Outlaw. They were talking about N Louisiana getting tornado weather too so Bluebolt, be safe if it hasn't changed!

Only one sale planned in the morning and tbh, I would not even be waking up for it but we gotta take the daughter to work early and supposed to look at an above ground pool afterwards. Fingers crossed I will be floating, beer in hand next weekend!

Gerstner, yes, always wanted one, (pattern makers) so the price was decent, needed work, so l got it.
I got to a point where I decided to not go for perfect, and went for good enough, and it turned out well enough.
need to do better blending of the front panel repair piece. :pimpflash

Thanks nine4, see comments above.
setting it on the file box things, and setting it under the wood lathe worked out well.

Bubinga go# damn it, I have to say you ****; Again!

I use to be really into Gerstners and many look so ordinary as the next one (to me) but not this one. Just looking at your photo's, this one seems to have a nicer tone in the wood and I like the fiddleback on the drawers, you generally don't see that on the drawers. I believe this was a special order box with nicer wood than the normal ones; I also like the drawer layout. Nice score

I'm jealous

darn Good, Is the Hole saw set for metal I take it?
And the Air hammer and Bits, Hammers, pliers, etc, all for $85.
I would say you did well!!

Thanks! I believe that they are for metal use.

Mk3Mike, SCORE!! Love the body tools man, you did well!

Thanks Nine! For a paint and body guy, I'm surprised that I didn't come across more hammers and dollies. Go figure!

MK3Mike, the weird crimper is for Buchanan wire crimp caps.
Great finds!

Thanks Jeff! I'll always grab unknown electrical tools since I know how pricey some specialty crimpers can be. I'll have to look into those crimp caps.

Ok, so here is my score for the day!

It was on the pricey side for the hand tools but I wanted them along with I figured I'd pick up one of the bonney to show the logo off.

img_3606.jpg

A challenger1/2" drive ratchet, Proto wrnech, Bonney wrench, 2 cornwell ratchet 1/2", SK 1/2" 10" extenison, snapon 13/16 socket, Armstrong double open end wrench, Bonney slider and one socket and a box of hout drill bits. I also got the 8 track player on a whim as I'm not sure if it works and the harness was missing.

img_3607.jpg

Here is the logo of the Bonney tools they had.
img_3608.jpg

Hout box,
img_3610.jpg

And score of the day for me since i've been waiting for one, is this hammer drill with bits for $30!!!!!!
img_3612.jpg

img_3613.jpg

I gave $50 for it all, $30 for the hammer drill, $4 for the hout bits and $16 for the other tools.

I didn't think I came out of it tool bad, and if anyone is interested in the bonney stuff I'll got snag them at 1 or so cause they close at 3:30 and it's one day only sale. See if I can get a better bundle deal on it all.

Red and gray boxes had LOTS of chisels and punches, most were Proto or Snap On, some Kraeuter, Craftsman and others.

I am looking for a 7 x 1/4 cape chisel and a 6 x 3/8 diamond point chisel. Any old USA brand. If you've got any in that pile you're not looking to keep please PM me. Thanks.
Edit: 1940's vintage steel, see my GMTK wanted ad

Wow. Thats awesome. Thanks for the info:thumbup: I thought it was just a regular old pocket knife.

You **** for getting a Hilti for $30!

Today for me was another one of those "baby clothes and Christmas decorations" kind of days. Only found 2 things. A waterproof pelican type case for $1 and a set of Duro/indestro metric wrenches for $7.

If you think that is pricey you would hate to see most of my local sales. Especially one I went to this morning. Ebay pricing.

Great score on the Hilti, Madison!

Only on thing for me today, CL score $20 delivered.

Dang  I've wanted a light for so long. Do it have all the sockets and bulbs?

Some of the stuff was good deals, but some of it they wanted $6 a craftsman wrench!

I got the odd branded stuff cheaper due to them not thinking it would sell.

But what I got was pretty good pricing I thought! The guy there actually went, you really want that old drill?? I was like well lets see it works? Yep, I'll take it for junk work around the house. He goes yea that's about all it's good for, but we got these great craftsman tool!! I was like, sorry I can't afford those good tools.

Went to 3 YS's and a TOO this morning in 3 different towns. Slim pickings.
I ended up spending $1.25 for :

a NIB set if Ladder Mitts
Bonny #4299 3/4"-1/2" socket adaptor
Williams B-20A 1/4" T-driver

I passed on a 3-wheel Craftsman Bandsaw (Power Bronze, no stand). I just didn't need a project like that right now, and I prefer the 2-wheels.

Yeah, I've been wanting one for as long as I can remember. Every time they come around, they are over priced for my budget. Got back this morning empty handed and refreshed the CL page and there it was, listed 20 hours earlier for $45. Immediately I text him and ask if he'd take $20 right now and luckily he replied yes, even luckier I guess, he was on his way through my area and delivered it no extra charge! He looked like a tweaker though... Probably done smoked that $20 :lol_hitti

It has the bulbs/sockets and he already wired a cord to it so they all light up. I plan to maybe find/make a three way flasher and try to get it to cycle.

The only one that I ran across before that I regret not getting was on a trailer at a flea market. It was about 7-8' tall, price reflected size. :shocking:

As expected, slow day after raining most of the night. The only saving grace was today was an organized area sale and a surprising number still setup.

Still didn't find much:

The sockets are 3/4" drive Armstrong in 1-7/16 and 1-5/8, and a 1/2 drive 5/8 hex.

A buck for a new US made rain poncho, Fram filter and the camping egg carton.

Not shown was a linked medallion belt that SWMBO got. (I knew she or my daughter would want it. .50c

All told < $5

Picked up a fifties vintage Craftsman toolbox while helping set up a fundraiser yard sale. They priced stuff to move so this moved into my truck for$5.

Here are a part of the tools that I purchased at an on-line auction. It'll be several days before I get it all sorted out, but these two selections are of interest here:

1. Set of metric ignition wrenches by Craftsman (Made in USA) - in original plastic holder.

2. Selection of vintage wrenches and three sockets - all were in a vintage cigar box. The sizes marked on a number of the wrenches do not represent the exact opening.
