For your re-sale efforts do you find CL the best way to market or eBay or some other method?
I've been thinking CL for the large stuff, cabinets etc and possibly eBay for the small to medium size/weight items.

I like eBay for most. I post a lot on both though as well as a local Facebook classified page. I prefer shipping over having people come to my garage/house, but sometimes it's unavoidable. I sold a snowblower, drill press, 2 lawn mowers on CL this year and just had the items out in he driveway. I sold a tool cabinet on eBay and the buyer came to get it with no issues. At least on eBay and PayPal you have a name address and phone number. I'm trying to get away from buyers coming to my house.

I am pretty well set on tool boxes, but I know some of you like Craftsman Crown items. Came across a

tool box at local estate sale, $14. If any GJ ers are interested pm me and I'll get it if it's still available and arrange shipment. ac5b5e8eb25e8deae0133635a9528543.jpg

Went back, someone was just buying it.

Thanks for the feedback. I've been using CL more than others but should ramp up some eBay listings as well. I also try to meet CL buyers at a neutral location if possible rather than my home. And, I put them through a small vetting process starting with email responses only, then if serious, personal email and then phone numbers. But you have a good point that eBay provides you that info easily when the sale is completed.

ZK, thanks man, I missed you guys but had to finish up a job and there is no way I could concentrate on it and keep my post count up here at the same time.

Bubinga, if that is a Delta tilting table saw, you may want to sell it, the tilt tables are tough to work with. hard to tell the vise brand, try some pics of it from both sides, possibly the bottom as well.

Bagged, cool vises and machinist stuff!

Bryan, cool box, too bad someone else got it.

Eborcim, only Mods can sticky a thread and this one is only good for this year anyway so it's not really worth it imo to sticky but thanks! Another 6 months and we'll be voting on who gets to start the 2016 thread. :willy_nil

Pretty excited about my CL score today. It's 1978, I'm going to pair it with my matching 1976 top box.
I paid $35.

Very nice. That would work really well with my 1974 SO boxes. I never find those mid-levels around here in decent condition for anything close to that price.

May weigh more than that limegreen! Hard to tell condition on my phone app but I do see it has a quick change gear box and some tooling. Did he mention an asking price or just expect an offer?

At over eight ft long, I'd agree... I'd be thinking over 2000 lbs initially unless its a LONG bench-top model nor over 12" swing.

nice, l am looking for a center box like that, how wide and deep, 26 x 12 or are they the full 18 deep

~26x15x8.5 Designed to fit up to a KRA59, but it doesn't look right, so more for the 12" deep boxes. They are nice, but I'd do some thinking before spending serious money on one to make sure it will work in your application. The top 2 drawers have dividers left to right IIRC.

Mike, what make you say Craftsman on the aluminum clamps? I have 4 of those marked identically, and no Craftsman in sight....

Unfortunately, I've never heard of that brand lathe, maybe someone else here has or you can try one of the machinist forums. Can you get a pic of the entire machine? Like Outlaw said, it could be a ton if its a full size 8' long lathe, hard to tell from those pics.

Edited: a 12" swing means it has 6" from the center of the chuck to the bed(ways). Also look at the ways and see if thy are flat or triangle and if they are smooth or beat up. Damaged ways could make that a parts machine but if they're in good condition and triangle, could be a quality machine. Flat ways are more of a hobby machine like the Craftsman I own. Google Southbend and/or Logan and look at the bed pictures, you'll see what I mean by triangle. Google craftsman lathe and you'll see the flat ways on the bed.

The part number cast into the clamp looks like a Craftsman catalog number. 9-66703 (?).

Could be! The 59 catalog shows an aluminum Clamp and the (Generic) Catalog No. for that series clamp is 9 M 6670; so a part No. of 9-66703 for a three incher makes sense.

I wonder if the MFG, had that number and Sears adopted it, or the MFG simply adopted the Sears No.? (it wouldn't be the first time)

A little crusty, but if it comes with a motor at that price, you ****.

Like this one?

It's complete with stand, motor, fence, table extensions, dado head/knives and dado blade insert cover.

I'm just gonna wash it and put it on CL for a fair price. It's a great project saw but I don't have the time to mess with it

Thanks to a heads up from Jakemac, I caught an estate sale in Stoneham, Mass today, along with another smaller one in Bedford on the way.

Here's what $20 got me in Bedford:

- An odd shaped mini-sledge with the handle rotated 90-degrees from "normal"
- Channellock side offset side cutters (No 447)
- Snap On 3/8" ratchet that doesn't ratchet
-Snap on swivel (may be impact wrench tool)
- Kawasaki vintage wrench set
- Handful of long and short Craftsman, Snap on and Bonney sockets
- 18" mortar spreader
- A beat up Wilton clamp on vise (missing parts, but my first Wilton in the wild so I had to buy it)

Next was the rich target environment in Stoneham. This place was amazing - Snap On, S-K, Craftsman galore. Also tools of every description, building supplies, auto parts. The former owner had also built a huge palatial garage along the side of his house that he never quite hour finished (I'll post some pictures of it over in the Garage Gallery).

Prices were high - they started at about Craigslist retail, but I still found some good deals:

- 5 mondo Snap On combo wrenches, sized 1-11/16" to 2"---$10 each
706d5bd979f9988efd190bc2c2cf91bd.jpg

- Oxy-acetylene welding kit with rusted old dolley, charged tanks and two torches---$100. I took a chance on this rig because the tanks are likely due for their hydro check, but I've been wanting a torch rig for a while, so I paid up.

adb034c24f2b3d1d4e7227c8f0afbafe.jpg

The rest below I got for another $50:
- Two huge Milwaukee self-feeding drill bits
- Two 1-1/4" Crosby brand shackles
- 1" Craftsman combo wrench
- Bonney 8" adjustable wrench
5cf51ed72196c2a8a1eea4a89714477e.jpg

- V. And M. bench-mounted hand grinder. Anyone know anything about this name? It "feels" pre-war.

ea6415cdd48fca28e7f8ad10e622cc6a.jpg

- Pair of Signode CU-30 strapping cutters (didn't know what these were til I got home)

34d22e015d4ba12a2e997348adbe1e4f.jpg
-Two Boston & Lockport double block pulleys
9a5c3e42f8ba0a7354e2c5b4b4fcf0a0.jpg

- 2 sticks of Snap On 3/8" deep sockets, metric and standard
cb6c77ee9a13aa15a28f2acfe91fa089.jpg

- Articulating lamp with magnifying lens and fluorescent light
9e12e952853f3597ffa0e24202172e93.jpg

- Finally, this crusty S-K machinist tool box, minus front door. Inside is in pretty good shape, and full of S-K sockets with some Snap on and Craftsman thrown in. The white pellets are packing foam spilled in by some previous shopper.

All in all, another good day. Plus, I'm pleased to report I am having success peddling some of my finds on Ebay, so this hobby is, if not yet paying for itself, at least getting a little cheaper. Plus, it helps to keep my garage from looking like some of the places I've picked.

Well, I fell into another honey hole this week. An estate sale from a former car dealer owner turned contractor. LOTS OF TOOLS !

I shared the listing with BlueBomber, so you can expect a post from him about this one as well.
EDIT : It seems that he clicked "submit" before I did. LOL.
Nice grab on the SK box. He was originally asking $100 for those large wrenchs

I went to a second sale after this one that turned out to be a dud, so I turned around and drove the 15 miles back to the first one and spent more money. The prices for each item were high. But if you bundled, the prices would drop all the way down to the high end of resonable.
:lol_hitti

This was the second day of a 4 day sale. I wonder what I missed from the first day. :shocking: I left a lot of good stuff behind because I'm trying to stay within a strict limit of overspending my bank account.

Here's what came home with me :

4 - MAC screwdrivers - P-202 XA, P-212 XA, PHR-3A, SDC-10A

Congrats on a very good score. Especially that Oxy-Acet rig. Every older set I bid on around me goes well beyond $200. With regulators, hose and two torches you got a smokin good deal. I like the cart inline arrangement too rather than the traditional side by side.
