Well the guy just sent me a message so I'm taking the trailer back tomorrow and grabbing the rest of it. I know there are 2 craftsman boxes, maybe 3 and a couple other nice things.

I just discovered the Snap-On date coding system thanks to the collectingsnapon.com website. These wrenches are dated 1958, which is the very first year Snap-On made these wrenches!!! :rocker:

Does anyone know if collecting "first issues" is a thing in the Snap-On world?

Nice hauls everyone. I spent 30 minutes just drooling over all the finds.

I only got a few small tools this weekend, and nothing to brag about. There was a clampalooza at the restore this past week (see picture) but I only bought the one clamp that wasn't missing parts. Big buy this week was a 98 Jeep Cherokee for $500. Wasn't running and the owner didn't want to mess with it. I was happy to. It's already running and its sportin a new muffler.

It had a leaking intake manifold and needed plugs and the muffler replaced. That was it. It had four new tires a new alternator and battery and radiator. I guess the owner dumped a lot of money into it then gave up. He was so close!

That THOR hammer is just cool as is. Heads mushroomed, chunks out of the handle, it looks like Thor himself was keeping the peace with that one. I'd leave it as is and frame the thing and hang on my garage wall.
Nice haul you found there for the weekend.

I agree, frame it is. I see lots of those copper hammers laying around on picks, but very rarely can you make out the manufacturer. One of my favorite things for the weekend as well.

A quick run up to the flea market this morning didn't yield much, but I did see a Waterloo "All American" top and bottom stack (didn't have my camera with me). I was too enthralled to remember to ask the price.

I did find the last wrench I needed to fill out an SK metric set, so that was good. The other wrench is a Cman (-V-) 6mm-8mm DOE. I paid $1 for the pair.

So I grabbed the rest today. Paid him $60 more. I'll sort it all out but one tub is full of nails and screws and paslode strips. Another is full of hand tools, and the third is just random stuff. Also got 4 20 ton bottle jacks, and two 2 ton floor jacks as well as the propane cylinder and handtruck.

You did get alot for your money but what are you going to do with it all? Selling it piece by piece will be a pain unless you really needed it all and are keeping it. My family would kill me if i brought all that home lol.

I'm in the process of building my new house / shop. most all of this is stuff that I don't have and will end up in the new shop because one house is becoming two. There will be a little bit of stuff that I will probably sell to try and recoup some of my money but most all of it I will keep.

The Thors are British. They were part of the tool kit for cars with wire wheels and knock-off hubs.

Mattblast, if that is what your slow days look like I can't imagine the big weekends. That's a really good group of tools for under $20.

Went to 3 yard sales while the wife was in church this morning. First one was a bust, They sold out yesterday, but was too lazy to pull down their signs and craigslist ad.
Yard sale two, was a place that buys storage units, so he has yard sales all the time. I got a small box of snap on sockets and an old craftsman ratchet, an old Plvmb ratchet and a thorsen 1/4 inch drive ratchet.

Yards sale #3, My sister called me and told me that she had just left a sale that had tools and a couple old vises. So I went right over and he had just sold the vises but I picked out another old craftsman rachet, a snap on breaker bar and a few nuts for like a small angle grinder. I spent 32.00 total

It'd be fun to just act simple and keep returning to the closed sale.
*ding-dong*
"Oh. I just saw the signs and stuff. Do you know where the sale is then, there's a sign down the street? I think it's somewhere on this block."
*ding-dong*
"Hi. I'm looking for the garage sale?"
*ding-dong*
"Is the garage sale in the back, I can't find it?
*ding-dong*
"I'm just here for the yard sale!"

I've taken old signs with full addresses down and placed them under the wipers of the seller's vehicles. (This is the most fun when its a new/expensive rig...) :pimpflash

As funny as it might be, don't be surprised if you get assaulted. If they don't value your time (by leaving the signs up), I highly doubt they will value your life. Furthermore you could be charged with harassment.

Yeah, by a soccer mom swinging a bag full of baby clothes! :lol_hitti

Or by her recently laid off, hung over husband that is angry at the world and has nothing to lose. The problem is, you never know what type of situation you are walking into. :dunno:
