Today, SWMBO and I took a drive up into New Hampshire to pick up our son from Scout camp. I had one planned stop and we free-styled two others (there were a bunch of YS signs out today!)
The first stop, a family YS, yielded some tool goodies for me - total price: $15

1/2" Apco Mossberg torque wrench, 0-175 ft-lbs
2" - 3" Slocum micrometer with case
3/8" Snap-On speeder with owner marks
3/8" Snap-On universal joint
3/8" Challenger by Proto breaker bar w/ 9/16" Challenger by Proto 6-pt socket
1/2" Craftsman V-series breaker bar w/ Powr-Kraft-100 11/16" long socket
Two 1/2" extensions marked R-22 & R-26 Made in USA ALLOY (anyone know OEM on these?)
1/2" Bonney 10" extension
12" steel "belaying pin" (I can't recall the proper name for this thing)
Kobalt drywall saw
Stainless steel surgical clamp (made in Pakistan)
Proto slip joint pliers
Wiss scissors (9" long)
18" Craftsman flat blade screw driver
4 Eclipse-branded DBEs, ranging from 1/2" to 13/16"
1 Barcalo-Buffalo DBE 11/16" - 3/4"
1 Giller DBE, 15/16" - 1" w/ owner marks
Three small wrenches, a Snap-On metric, a Williams Superwrench DOE, and an auto kit wrench to add to my collection.
I passed on a few toolboxes: a Snap-On handheld that was kinda beat up, a hip-top no-name antique, and an '80s Craftsman with mostly same vintage wrenches inside.
The first freestyle YS was a dud - no tools. But the second was another older couple who were selling everything and moving to Florida! (I'm coming to love our recent harsh winter for a whole other reason!) The first thing I bought was this Rubbermaid rack chock full of hand tools. "$2!" the old guy said. "I PULLED IT RIGHT OFF THE WALL." (I think he was a little deef)

There was a lot of junk on it, but also several neat tools. I bought the lot to get a few of them.
He also slapped an old G-E 1/4 HP electric motor on the ground next to him. "IT RUNS GREAT! TEN BUCKS!" I smiled and chatted with him about it before moving on up to the porch. I found more tools and chatted up the lady of the house as I plucked them from the tables. SWMBO adds her picks to my pile and ask how much. The lady does some tallying and says "$11 total." I said "Can you throw in that electric motor and make it an even $20?" She said yes, so into the car it all went.

I won't try to catalog all the stuff from this pick, but will highlight a few.
No 410 Channellock pliers that are also stamped "Champion DeArment - Meadville, PA" ???
L26 Crescent slip-joint pliers
Funny French-made offset sidecutters
Craftsman crowntop rasp
Craftsman regular and oil filter sockets
1/2" 110 Ray ?? speeder
After getting home, I still had time to make it out to a sale in the next town over that JakeMac pointed out to me (I'm starting to owe a lot of my good deals to you, Jake!). It was a moving sale, and while the adult kids were greeting the public, the "old man" was still very much alive and had priced most things for what they were worth. I managed to bundle a few things and get some bargains.

Eastwood Co. powdercoating kit, new-in-box. Bought 14 years ago and never used - $70 (Been wanting one of these for a while!)
Snap-On 1/4" Torqometer torque driver, in case with hex quick change adapter. Also like new - $27 [Snap-On's web site has this retailing for $385!!!]
Two "***********" Craftsman c-clamps, 3" wide and 4" deep - $3
All in all, a pretty good day. Now I just need to get it all cleaned, put away and the flippable stuff listed on E-bay. Picking is definitely more fun.
