I picked up this Snap On tool box today for my dad but he told me he doesn't want it because it weighs so much. Any idea what model this box is? I looked on the bottom for a number but couldn't find one anywhere. I guess I am going to sell it since he doesn't want it.

I think sales are waning. Lots of kids clothing for BTS, reruns from **** that didn't sell at previous sales or sellers have already had their summer sale.

Starrett ($1), Lufkin ($.50) and Fowler ($10) measurement tools. The squares needed Evaporust treatment.

So today was the annual "40 mile garage sale" along route 11 south of Winchester, VA. I'm not kidding when I tell you I got there at 0630 and left at 1100. I made it approximately 1 mile (but I doubt it was that far). Got this all for $40. The worm drive circular saw is a friggin beast! The package on the SK snap ring pliers is beat but the pliers are both absolutely unused. Not sure who made that little vise but I couldn't not buy it for $1!

Stopped by 2 sales today. The first was an estate sale of a former pipefitter, it was chock full of parts, tools, things I've never seen before. A lot of homemade and modified tools. Some highlights:

The second was just a driveway garage sale, nothing too special.

My purchases:

Custom modified Apex awl/screwdriver, snap ring pliers, Williams and Fairmount wrenches, Ridgid pipe wrench springs, anchors, some terminals, mini screwdriver, Fairmount punch, Xcelite hex driver from the first sale
Klein drill bit set (full) and Craftsman pro driver from the second sale

I had a better day at today's estate sale. A packed property and a huge crowd, but not as many tools as I had hoped. On the brighter side, the company holding the sale decided to have a drawing for $25 off your purchase based on your entry number and guess whose number was called?!

I was shopping for myself and SWMBO, so I came away with tools and garden stuff. Here's what I found:

2f59c292503b4d82026dd115d0bad5bd.jpg
Two Park brand rolling cabinets, 28" x 21" x 15" - $10 ea. Not a screaming deal, and I actually bought them to hang on the wall before I saw they have wheels.

e376625570b0c7f668d15687409447ef.jpg

One Craftsman crown top sandstone wet grinding wheel in gold livery, complete w/ a 1/4 hp Westinghouse motor and switch - $10

0baff382ae498f5614b28d2f232d3cad.jpg

a5e8497e6b8a5ffedf551da9894626c8.jpg

One Armstrong Mfg Co. model 833 three-legged pipe vise - $10

c688cdbddc96713258539ff08b8fad88.jpg

Two plastic toolboxes full of first aid stuff - $15 for both. I've been meaning to put a first aid kit on the garage, and these will do nicely for anything short of a mass casualty.

ce7d8b2201419bf563a58c8ba86f2d03.jpg

Two Bridgeport model 56 nail pullers.
One shows "Bridgeport Howe Mfg Corp" and the other shows "Crescent - Bridgeport"

200c0095b07f89a03af41f3e86165117.jpg

One Snap On 17mm combo wrench, 1989 date code
One Billings Vitalloy 11/16" x 5/8" DBE wrench
One Shurline Brush and Roller Cleaner (never seen one of these before - it spins your brush or roller to clean them)

07c93fca65e7bb24a0bb4e3d01371cae.jpg

One Skewdriver Pro driver kit from Spec Tools, new in box

001d83593b9f8d7ddaeb226902982403.jpg

149fdde5a2e4ebdbafa4ab9759c79f80.jpg

One Pena (?) Bros No 3 hatchet, beaten hard and in need of cleaning up on the grinding wheel. Can anyone confirm the maker here?
One Sears & Roebuck hammer, not original handle
One pair Ford pliers
One pair CeeTee Co pliers
One pair Snap On needle noise pliers, dated 1988. Funny, I grabbed these to pry out the staples holding the grinder wiring to the work bench and although they were stiff with rust, they just felt like quality, so I threw it in the pile. It was only after I got it home that I saw the Snap On logo. [emoji5]

ab86fa4eceaa88a8ffbd6ea316ebd342.jpg
90c0de531e0460b49896aa87059367bf.jpg
An assortment of 1/2" sockets: S-K, Indestro Super, Patriot (a new one for me)
Two Proto 3/8" crowfoots (crowfeet?), 9/16" & 1/2", look unused.
One Mustang brand 4" double male extension
One Snap On F-10-HD 3/8" x 8" breaker bar. Any guesses on the date code?
One pair Williams tiny 5" multi-groove pliers, mdl 1518
One abused Superwrench, 1/2" x whatever-the-hell-the-PO-grinded-it-out-to.

3b175eac7907e709b6e65379e0968339.jpg
One heavy duty Workforce wire brush
One small hand plane marked C-247 with a Stanley blade, made in USA.
One Yankee No 130A ratcheting screwdriver by North Bros out of Philly

8dcd457e09ef713be11270da32ba8c48.jpg

One Craftsman mdl 83972 fluorescent utility reel light
One Taiwan-made 12V fluorescent work light with 15' cord. This is going in the truck if it works.
Not pictured: one hammer handle.
$20 for all of the tools above.

d29358d31f5cc5794576ce7ff154cf8d.jpg

One Coleman mdl 228F liquid fuel camp lantern
One no name "squirrel resistant" bird feeder
One weatherproof outdoor outlet enclosure
One pair lint rollers
$5 for the above.

1ef01fcbb23cddbf49d561ba90be02d4.jpg

One Nelson tractor sprinkler - $5

375fcb47dbccf7f860d42d978113cbf3.jpg

Two snow shovels and a hand harrower - $10

3ce8cb766b2db960f153931aeec19514.jpg

Two Series 4000 Raincatcher rain barrels, Canadian made - $15

5e18cb85ea0181a84c375cada0bf46fd.jpg

One artsy concrete bench - $5 (after applying my $25-off coupon!)

7121feb625734113596f57c3447855ee.jpg

25 12"-diameter stepping stones -$40

A full load in my truck and fortunately, they helped me load those stepping stones. [emoji12]

I knew another GJ member would be there! I was the young kid with the SK hat. It seems like you got the 2 other crows feet I needed, I found only two. I missed out on the multi purpose vise, and a really nice metal parts organizer.

But I did end up with 10 different snap on tools, etc and the Ariens Rototiller.

Cool - there are several of us up here in the greater Boston area!

I'm tempted to go back tomorrow for half price day.

Sorry, guys, I just saw how crappy some of the pictures are. I'll take some better ones tomorrow.

Pics look OK to me....Nice haul...

If I found that much stuff for the whole year let alone one sale, I'd be a happy camper..

Lots to chose from, but the sprinkler is my favorite.

Got skunked myself today.

You guys are finding some great things this week.

Here is items from Friday, 8/7/2015

Pic 1--Columbian WW Vise # 5 CD with 7" jaws, 4" depth and extends out to 10-1/2". However, missing handle, metal section that keeps the 2 bars and screw from extending out too far is missing and a break in rear section, which someone in past brazed/welded.

Pic 2--Cast Iron Coulter Junior and used for holding ladies shoes (I think).

Pic 3--When I saw this pump and "Made in the United State of America" spelled out on cast iron side, had to get it. When big pulley wheel is turned, can fill suction on one pipe and exhaling on other pipe. If anyone knows what it was specifically used for, would appreciate info.

Pic 4--Red Metal cabinet with door, couple shelves inside and even handles to push it along. No mfg name found on it, but it could have been modified by prior owner. I bought it for an old 1955 Dewalt Radial Arm Saw that didn't come with a base. Together, they look like Christmas colors.

Pic 5--Craftsman Miter Saw Stand and Saw.

Pic 6-- W M Co is only maker marks on it. Definitely different looking than your typical pipe vise.

Pic 7--Couple of bottle openers. Coca Cola is marked made in Taiwan on back, while the aluminum one with Progressus is marked on back as Made in W. Germany

Thanks, CT. Try looking for sales on estatesales.org - it seems like there are always several down in your area that are too far away for me.

More than Pristine; are there any heat marks on the burners? It doesn't look like it from the one pic. If not, that would get top dollar from the collectors.

Outlawmws:

Here is a few more pics of that Coleman.

It has been used, but well cared for.

BTW, it even had the small pamphlets books on operation inside of it when I got it.

Nice Plvmb Score! Not often someone nails so many at once!

I went to a Yard sale this AM, and the next door neighbor also had one.

Semi Estate sale; clearing out the old man's (93 YO! - WWII Vet) garage. He wasn't a guy that worked with his hands a lot, but his father and grandfather were a bit, so he had some of their stuff.

I spotted this wood box and opened it and it had mostly Bits for a Brace (half a dozen of so?) and a few smaller files.

attachment.php

This is what caught my eye when I opened the thing:

attachment.php

I asked "how much for the box" and was asked full or just the box? So I said both ways. after a lot of angst on the part of the son (probably late 60's or so?) he offered it for $25 complete, I asked how much for just the box, and again after some angst, said $20, but the Father, who hadn't heard him, said $5. I said I liked the fathers price better.... :pimpflash The son worked on me a bit for the higher price or at least A higher price, and I said I'd think about it.

So I dug around in other stuff and eventually found this:

attachment.php

attachment.php

The old man said his army buddy who had stayed in the army longer, brought it home after WWII from Japan and gave it to him. We debated whether it was US or Japanese, and I said it looked Japanese to me.

The son said it had a word on it and he found that in the rust: "It's CASS **"

I asked how much and they said $5, and I said Sold. It actually Says "CASE" so I was wrong about Japan. :rocker:

It has the metal blade cover/sheath as well!

I managed to get inside the garage and the son helped me dig through some garage drawers. Where I found all this:

attachment.php

The Duck Bills and top Combo are long C craftsman, then three P&C Combos (all scattered in those drawers), A Herbrand Flair nut wrench, and the mini Vise grips,

That mini vise had a B on the static jaw, and a C on the dynamic,

The Stanley No. 79 trim plane, leather tool, and the mini vise he found and handed to me!

Here is the back side of the Stanley trimer:

attachment.php

After I was done digging the son priced it al at $1 each so with the Case I was at $15.

I gave them a 20 and while the father was getting change, the son offered the box to me at $5. Deal! :bounce:

The newspaper inside the box is dated 1948! And the brass plate inside the lid says No. 912 - I'l have to do some research on that; Who knows I may already have the tools that came in it!

And then I went next door and got this lock out of a tool box otherwise full of junk and was tools he'd wanted to sell it all together box and all for %4 but I said all I wanted was the lock. - .50c! :D

attachment.php

So a total outlay of $20.50!

Some nice scores this weekend everyone. Jammer that is an outstanding Plomb haul.

This morning I picked up this Craftsman Heritage logo carpenter's box. It's got some rust but all of the latches and handles are intact as is the piano hinge and the lid closes tightly.

I went back to yesterday's sale and did some more digging.

5448337583bd181204459abfd8c49cb3.jpg
I found the matching Park top box for one of the rollers I bought yesterday, so I grabbed it.

d2601cc867135626b2b029809116b070.jpg

One pair Stripmaster wire strippers
One pair Channellock 910 locking pliers (never seen this design before)
One pair LeverSnips 9R metal snips (a little beat up)
One hex-drive socket (part of the set I found yesterday)
One Snap On PPC203A metal punch, dated 1981
One pair Proto 276 pliers, handles dipped in plastic
One Vaughn 16 oz rock hammer

a38f06d2ae94bd57feffe343084cd7c5.jpg

One mini ball peen hammer, no name (found the handle and head in separate buildings)
One tiny hand plane, made in USA, w/LSO cast in body - Stanley?
One S-K 40970 1/4" ratchet (frozen, we'll see if I can get it loose)
One Ridgid 4" adjustable
One no name stamped metal adjustable
One Crescent Crestalloy double ended adjustable (spray bombed, but my first double:rocker:)
One box full of peg board hooks (now just need to buy peg board :bounce:)
One crusty S-K Wayne 5/8 combo
One Lumen 13-17mm DOE, made in Germany!
One autokit 3/4" x 5/8" combo
One 12" drill extension

c3dec613f6e4cc48e7fb4bc6eb7a4386.jpg

One 6" no name drop forged nail pry bar
One cheap socket holder
Two WC galvanized pulleys (1" & 1.5")

One roof rake head

52c3f14e7a687f34e8d00ed7d1b43b62.jpg

One broom handle with a metal screw tip

Two hand rakes

59dea5624271319d99e334108da2de97.jpg

5c9a648b74ee801e1438e662f797a2be.jpg

One Fairgate vary form curved rule
One Calcinator Automatic Control timer, good for 10 amps (may be dated 4.58)

And finally, the big score:
9d52e89079ff321af2d0f66f98f5326f.jpg

846707999f9817430bc33a6d7ea6911f.jpg

567f6de1d1b09448c98269e9d402e1b0.jpg

925a44c04eeb6584f6143c1d8fe61864.jpg

One Millers Falls Langdon ACME mitre box, Size 2, No. 1071A
One Atkins No. 1 25"x5" hand saw

I knew this was something special when I grabbed it from under a pile at the back of the workbench - this thing weighs over 20 lbs!! I haven't researched it thoroughly, but based on the Millers Falls logo, it probably from the 1930s.

My price for all of the above? $12.

We went back out for another errand and I hit up a local TOO drive by. I almost drove on by, then decided to see what the heck this was.

It's apparently a CMP INDUSTRIES TICONIUM NOBLILIUM DENTAL DRYING OVEN, I'm still looking for specs. Hard to do as the ID plate is mostly gone. I had a hard time even ID'ing it at all, but lucked into a pic of the same oven and got some leads. Pretty sure this is pretty old, one of the clay plates was dated 1978.

I don't think it has kiln temp capability, as while it does have a couple of Fire brick type clay plates in it (pretty sure not stock) it's not lined as most kilns I see are. I'l have to play with it to see how hot it can get. but surely Powder coating could be done. its vented on top, and I think it has a damper control built into the bottom. I suspect the air is drawn from the top, circulate inside the walls and is drawn up from the bottom.

Internal dimensions empty is a 13" cube

The guy wanted it gone and I got it for $5.

Looks like there were a lot of great scores all around this weekend!

Outlaw, apparently they are still making an oven that is very similar: http://www.nobilium.com/equipment-new/burnout-drying-ovens/model-drying-oven-2773.html

Looks similar to my burn out oven for doing the "lost wax" part of lost wax jewelry casting which will go well over 2000 degrees, but you can't go that high with a glass thermometer.

Looks like the hole in the top is for a glass thermometer which goes to 500 deg., so not as hot as a burnout oven.:

Great finds BB! The Miter box is my favorite for a manual back say miter box.

The 910 Channel lock Vise grips are my favorite Vise grips. The blue plastic handle is on upside down and a word of warning: those often crack or even break out. All is not lost if it happens though: I broke mine a couple of decades ago, and glued (Super glue), then wound the piece back on with 30 ga. steel wire, and lastly coated the wire with some of SWMBO's fingernail polish to lock it in place. Worked for well over 20 years and I only recently rewound the wire and recoated it.

Went to the Elephant Trunk show today. Picked up these beauties. Parker 835. 82 lbs, 5" jaws, swivel jaw. Very, very clean. Pd $100.
Heinrich 3SV machinist vise, pd $15. Custom machinist vise, pd $15. Broken Parker 3.5" - free. Picked up this little Yankee machinist vise for $5.00. Palmgren rotating compound tilt machinist vise-got it from Ford Superduty to restore, we are partnering on this one.

Got this gorgeous 1hp Baldor bench grinder from a member in a barter deal for that cool cash register stand that I had. I couldnt wait so I started its renovation. I have the side plates but they were in the baking oven drying.

Nice folding blade. Here's a short discussion about them on another forum, toward the bottom is a pic of one just like yours. Cool find.

All I managed today a the flea market was a couple of NOS Lufkin tape measures. 5 bucks for both. :dunno:

Put my 36" Starrett straight edge across it in various areas and only a few spot where a piece of paper would slip through......I'll never will use it as a precision measuring plate but it should be great as a sanding surface.....

BlueBomber and Bobcat - I was at Camp all last week and just got back. You guys found a nice little hotspot while I was gone. Nice job.

Unfortunately, my trip was dry for pickings up in Maine. But I did murder more than my fair share of beer cans while I was up there. :drink:

I stopped by a couple of new-to-me flea markets - one commercial, the other not, and came away with a few things I just couldn't pass up.

At the commercial one, I got a 7/8 BernzOmatic combo to add to my collection. I already had one, but this was really nice. A 1 1/16 x 1 1/8 DOE, unknown brand, but USA, just to add a size to my pegboard grabbers, and a really neat 3/4 x 7/8 DOE. I looked up the patent, and it was issued in 1935 to Bridgeport Hardware Mfg. Co. The size is an extra, but I couldn't resist that cool design. I'll have to look it up on Alloy Artifacts to see what else I can find. Wouldn't mind having a set of these little jewels!

Then, at the other flea market (church-sponsored; usually the kiss of death) I got a plain-Jane tool box filled with miscellaneous wrenches and other junk, and a Craftsman Block Grinder.

Sorry, no pix of the grinder, but it's the second generation of Blocks - all metal, but with the flatter top. Missing both wheel covers, but it's a half horsepower, has the spark arrestors and tool rests and (drum roll, please) THE LIGHT! I think the light shade may be plastic, but the rest is steel, and it all works great, even the light bulb.

Digging through the tool box revealed a set of 9 Craftsman =V= combo wrenches plus one of those funky open end plus socket thingies. The combos go from 3/8 to 1" but without the 13/16 and 15/16. There were also a number of Indestro flat wrenches, plus several branded Westline that look an awful lot like the Indestros. And, two pair of Proto 8" slip joint pliers, one pretty clapped out and one nearly new.
Total tab: $31.
