Set of drawers $7.50 and another $2 for Dazor lamp.

Made by Wright and Company Worcester Mass

If sturdy enough (probably is), looks like a good bench drill press stand.

So, been talking to an older lady and her daughter about helping cleaning out the shed... didn't expect more than a box of tools... holy ****, tools everywhere! Then for cleaning out 1/4 of it today, and helping them sell larger items... the stuff I was about to throw cash on down, they said I could have. For free. Besides the near 150lbs of wrenches and sockets and ratchets (nothing too special other than a bunch of williams and SO 3/4" drive sockets), I got this greasy bad boy.

and after a bottle of simple green and some scrubbing...

I was awakened by a call from a friend this morning and he only calls when something is up so I answered and he said he was cleaning out his grandmothers house and there was an old Craftsman drill press there and he thought I may want it. He said that it was his grandfathers so I jumped right up and went over. The drill press is in the back of my truck, I'll post pics tomorrow but it's in rough shape and I may just part it out. All this was free for helping carry some stuff to the curb! The organizer has about 5-600 different size new zirk fittings, two craftsman boxes, some hand tools but mostly import with a few craftsman, 4.5" grinder, some grinding and wire wheels, nib torx sockets, b&d jigsaw, =craftsman= hacksaw, lots of 7" dewalt cutting discs, bench grinder missing switch, unknown condition, Wards(iirc) aluminum level with dual bubbles in the windows, old *** xbox, working ps3, couple games and dvds and an old Sonic tray!!

Free is always good. That's a good friend there! So maybe that Sonic tray needs an old car door hung on the shop wall with the glass down just enough to hang the tray on. Drive-In wall art.

Assortment of DBE wrenches, American forge 3/8" ratchet, snap on 9/32" square socket, rigid pipe wrench. Picked them all up at Monday's flea.

Down at Buzzards Bay near Cape Cod today with SWMBO to visit our daughter at Mass Maritime. We killed some time in the antique shops on Main Street. Not a great place to find bargains (they had a nice Heritage logo 4" swivel vise, but for $75), however I rifled through the "Rusty Tools for a Dollar" box and found these four brace bits and a Mac 9/16" x 5/8" DBE. The store was having a 25% off sale, so I got them for $3.75.

The rusty tools for a dollar box is my favorite!! I have the same MAC 9/16X5/8 wrench. It too, was relegated to the rusty junk tools box at an estate sale

I have bought several small items over the summer but nothing worth talking about. But yesterday I bought a Craftsman brown wrinkle bottom box full of junk tools. I did find this in one of the drawers. A staple gun with Bell System cast into the frame!
Jeff tell me about this!

Here is the continuation of my score from yesterday. I went back and helped more today, found a few more things to bring home.

Craftsman drill press
02090.jpg

bad pic of a bunch of galvanized flashing, gas weed eater, electric chainsaw, Columbian 4-1/2 vise with a broken base plate, riding lawn mower seat I will make a creeper seat with, a big argon bottle dated 96 but still has pressure, lots of knick knacks in the corners.
02091.jpg

Sheet hangar for up to 1/2 ton, the broken vise, cry baby and a Fender switch for guitars, Felpro intake gasket set for a BBC, small bottle of tap magic, a bunch of nice 2" cut off discs, craftsman adjustable, not shown is a bunch of misc parts I plan to weld together or just hoard up my place even more until I decide to scrap it

Picked up Saturday for $15. Belonged to the father of the retired fellow running the garage sale. Said his father was a machinist in Chicago in the 30s-40s, and this was the box he used. Very cool piece of history.

No label, stamp, decal, sticker, or marking of any kind to indicate brand. I've seen this color scheme on Dunlap boxes of that period. Used to own one. The construction was inferior. This one is build like a tank.

The center hasp is original to the box. Plenty of rust. I'd like to repaint the outside and leave the drawer faces alone.

Great find. I especially like the reciepts - it gives perspective on the box' previous owner and history of use. Well done!

a few items from one garage sale last weekend. There was mainly clothes and household goods, but I found these buried in the back, under some junk, all for $10.

Stevens Walden tool box, full of sockets, etc. Includes about 20 Walden (1/4", 3/8" and some 1/2" drive) sockets, 8 Craftsman sockets, a 21/32 Hinsdale socket (??), a Blackhawk spark plug socket, a 1/4 Indestro socket wrench, and a 3/8" HiTest (??) wrench. Also got a Starrett center head, and Wiss 10" snips.

Looks a lot like my S-K box, but in better shape and with the front cover. Nice find!

I need all your advice on this potential purchase. I have a chance to buy this Old Sears Craftsman Motorized 10 inch Table saw for $60. Do you all think I should pull the trigger? It turns on, and seems like it works great. I would want to clean it up as a reliable used saw when needed for plywood cuts, and 2x4 cuts. The model number is 113.29580

Zkling and bluebomber thank you for the quick replies. Which models would you recommend around that price range? And gee, I had not even considered one with extension tables due to limited shop space. I just Google images for table saw extension tables, and there are some big ones custom made out there.

I'm digging the middle set of pliers! Any maker marks?

So after a few days in the electrolysis bath and some wd40 and scotch bite I was able to expose some of the makers mark on these very interesting slip joint, sideways, bizarre, pac man tyranysaurus jaw looking pliers. Unfortunately, I cant make out every letter, but here's what I could see:

MECHANICS TOOL CO
RENCH PAT FEB
ILL

Cant make out the patent date, the rest of the "rench," or a city to go along with ILL.

They cleaned up nice though, the teeth are crazy.

Nice. The company name is kind of generic and thus hard to search for online. You might post your pictures in a standalone thread in the Vintage Tools forum to see if anyone knows anything more.

I agree with both members on this.

As for which model? There are more than I can count! I personally like my Craftsman 10" "contractor" series 3hp (it isn't really that much hp). These saws have nice big tables - which can be taken apart for storage, a stout fence, and enough power for any homeowner. These are always listed on Craigslist for $150-$250, but every week or so, one comes up for $100 or less - you just need to be patient and wait for the right saw to come along.

The saw in the picture sold at auction for $80.

The missing lines say

EAGLE CLAW WRENCH PAT FEB 6-1912
ROCKFORD ILL

(apologies that I originally wrote CHICAGO, misread some history .... I think.... grrr, seems it could be either ROCKFORD or CHICAGO http://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?id=15912 )

Does that help?

:) No probs, I'd be intrigued to know how well those jaw tips work on a coach bolt (assuming that type of bolt has the same name your side of the pond)

How much space do you have? Odd thing is... you can actually fit a full size cabinet saw in less space than a 10" contractor table saw due to motor location. Some of the older 8" saws are nice and a little more compact.

I went to a sale looking to get a craftsman grinder, but ended up with a delta homecraft saw, some oil cans, and this SK tool box.

Nice score, I love old machinist chests. Any interest in re-selling? I may be interested in giving your money back some day down the road.

Earlier today I saw an ad for a garage sale tomorrow morning that's right around the corner so I emailed them to see if I could come by today and shop. The lady called me this evening while we were unloading the thing in my second pic so I rushed right over and bought a few things. There are Craftsman on the left and Snap On on the right, pittsburg impact adapter and a Williams wrench up top. Prices marked I spent $14 but gave her $15 and thanked her for letting me come by a day early.

I changed his ujoints the other day and he said I can have this for helping him for FREE, as long as I keep it. He asked that I split the cash if I sell it but I think it will be full of beer soon!! I got the keys and all, working condition!!! :willy_nil

How much space do you have? Odd thing is... you can actually fit a full size cabinet saw in less space than a 10" contractor table saw due to motor location. Some of the older 8" saws are nice and a little more compact.

I guess, space is relative to how much walking room I prefer to have. This is my current setup. The far left wall is nothing but shelves, and on the top, under the latter, are kids power wheels.

The dog, well, don't mind the dog. He's the neighbor's dog which hangs out with me when I'm in the shop.

Wow  good on you for giving her the extra buck.

Spend the money, get a 220v cabinet saw, put it on wheels.
