You guys found some great stuff this weekend!
I had to wait until today to find anything good. I'm beginning to enjoy Monday trips to the recycling yard.
They had this REED 204 vise sitting there for me today. Cost me the grand sum of $14. 3 patent dates with August 1914 being the most recent.
Of course, it's missing the base. Anyone have a spare? :dunno:

First weekend I was able to go to a few sales in a while, the first few I went to had nothin, however I did find a few goodies at one sale. A older guy who gave me a great deal on the handful I grabbed because "He loves seeing young guys who still enjoy wrenching"

Heres what I got, from top to bottom in first picture.

1 1/8" MAC 1/2" Deep Impact Socket

7/16" Proto Cold Chisel

9/16" Line wrench- I believe it is Plvmb, it has the pebble finish on the handle. Has a part # on it but the brand was ground off somehow, no idea why. Any input guys?

11/16" Bonney wrench

3/4" Proto wrench

13/16 Proto wrench- This one was 100% brand new! Still had satin finish inside open and box end.

15" Proto punch. Appears to me that this punch has never seen a hammer!

Got it all for $5!!!!

Heres a couple close shots of the 9/16" line wrench I believe is Plvmb because of the pebble finish, what do y'all think?

And the end of the 15" Proto punch that I dont think has ever been used before!!

Great find on the Reed and even if you can't find a missing base, you could take off the swivel locking handle and drill hole on the other side similar in size to what the locking handle hole is and use it as a fixed base vise.

Vette, your line wrench is probably a grind off due to the law suit between Plumb vs Plomb, which Plomb lost.

Wow I never knew that happened! I was very curious as to why it was a perfectly smooth grind, like a surface grinder did it. Couldnt wrap my mind around why anyone would have ever done that! But that makes perfect sense. Cool!!!

Im gonna research that lawsuit!

got these over the last week, $70 total:

- 2 Kennedy toolboxes. The 260 is in good shape, just had to clean up a bit. The 262 only has some rust at the handles, easily fixed.
- the 3rd box I have not yet identified. Great shape other than the splashed paint, will use as is. Had liners in all drawers.
- over 75 hand files that were in one of the toolboxes, mostly Simonds. Some surface rust. Will sell these.
- my 2nd workmate, I now love these.
.

Thanks, I had thought about that as well, but I may already have lucked into a base for it.

Thanks. I've been stopping by that yard on my way home almost weekly for a year asking about a vise. Finally paid off. I scored a nice old Kennedy machinist box from them a few weeks ago as well.

Vettelvr, the line wrench is a Proto, as you can see the circle R still, but they have the same part #'s as Plomb, as Plomb became Proto. So, yes. Sorta.

Wow!!! Where did you find a Plomb cache like that, Outlaw?? Great job!! I'd love to find a honey hole like that.

Mostly dumb luck: I went to a yard sale that said "tools" among other things; none in sight, so I asked, and a few sentences later he's asking if I would be interested in old Plvmb tools... :willy_nil I mean: Sure, show me what you got? :pimpflash

I think you should take the time to photograph those Plomb in the cardboard box so we can see what you stole bought.

Nice finds you guys.

Thanks guys. and Pics; yep planning on it, I'm just working extreme hours right now, so times at a premium...

I got lucky today! I found a craftsman 1/3 bench grinder for $20 on craigslist last night but i was a little late and missed it but then later on in the morning this gets posted up for only $5 more dollars and has a stand so i texted them right away and picked it up after work today. The grinder works great and only the light has some damage too it. The stand is custom and very heavy. Looks like someone welded a pipe to a car rim and added a bunch of concrete to it. I am not sure if i am going to keep the stand or not but for $25 dollars for a nice running vintage craftsman bench grinder i did very good.

The plastic covers are one of the few parts that are still available. There should be a link in one of the grinder threads over in the vintage section.

Good score on a nice looking block.

Stopped by a pawn shop, quickly spotted this under the counter, asked to see it, saw a price tag of $6.95, started scrambling for my wallet, nice girl offered it to me for $6 even though I wasn't even trying to haggle, walked out pretty satisfied.

SK 43875 fine tooth roto, seems to be in nearly mint condition and works great.

Nothing major but picked up a few interesting things from my local Habitat for Humanity store. A Snap-On socket tray, Plomb brake spoon, couple of Craftsman punches, and a Vaco stubby screwdriver $3

I did very good today and the first stop on my list there wasn't anyone there when it opened so i got everything to myself. He collects tools as well so he knows what stuff is worth so his prices were high on some items and low on others. I came for the ratchets and that is basically what i left with.

1. Very old complete craftsman socket set for $20! I got him to go down because everything was engraved. Can anyone tell me the date on this set?

2. ratchet lot for $20! Two proto ratchets 1/2 and 3/8, indestro 1/2 ratchet, sk 3/8 ratchet, craftsman =v= 1/4 breaker bar, firestone 1/2 ratchet.

I left some ratchets tho. He had a couple more usa ratchets and a craftsman usa ratchet that he was asking $10 for but i he liked his craftsman a lot and knew what they were worth so i didn't bother. I did get a bundle deal on these tho because he was asking $25 for the craftsman socket set and $5 per ratchet so i saved $15 dollars.

I didn't see until i got home that the firestone one is broken :( I don't know if i can fix it or it will end up being a display piece but i am happy either way!

Second sale there was nothing special but a snap-on wrench that someone butchered and a bag of around 15 usa craftsman metric sockets. I paid $3 for the lot.
