These are all 3/8 and 1/4 ratchets and breaker bars.

Outlaw,
I knew you'd like that piece! :)

Yeah, either the extensions are missing or what I have is the "short model" of the same assembly referenced in the instructions. I need to study it closer. It's quite ingenious, actually. A nice little item for a "jick" (Just in Case Kit), as we used to say.

I'll post pics soon.

EDIT: Here's a close-up of the pieces that came in the can.

20161014_1458221_zpsfu3ctx3s.jpg

If you go back and look at the instructions, what's missing is the spit handle, the spit extensions, and the spit point itself. And, in doing a little more research, it looks like those came in a separate box. The handle and extensions form the shaft for the spear head and also the gaff, unfortunately. (Not very self-contained to put a survival kit in two separate containers!) Although if you really had to use just what was in the can, you could tie a line onto the eyelet shank and troll the gaff like a treble-hook. Easy enough to make a handle and extensions with some rods and dies. I just need to gage the threads.

Dang 3Bay, you found a lifetime supply of ratchets at one sale!

Yeah, definitely. I was quite impressed with what was all there. So many old sockets they barely got touched. A ton of nice newer stuff went unsold too. I have never seen leftovers quite like it. They were happy to move it the last day but that's what happens when they price high to start.

Well done 3Bay, I didn't get a chance to hit that sale. I especially like the Facom and Craftsmon NOS wrench sets. Have always liked those smooth handle NAPA ratchets also.

Excellant scores

A little late season luck here in MN. Nothing spectacular, but plenty I'll put to good use, especially for $20. Some of the finds include a Challenger by Proto hacksaw, Eastwing leather handled hammer, Stanley USA 100' tapemeasure, and a made in the US metal dual sight level.

Cool wall hanger ratchet!

So I have to ask: whats with the "minaret" in pic 2 & 3? :wtf:

It's raining here, so I may be rained out for tomorrow - after missing 2 weekends too! :(

Awesome find wrenchguy and dngrmse!

Glad you finally posted Merc, I think they thought I was joking. You have been on a straight mission lately and I'm sure that's not all you've found either! The Shop Smith will get a good cleaning this weekend and either listed complete or parted out asap. If we can't mod the casters to fit your Delta, maybe you can sell them to buy the Delta set and not be out much money.

Nasty wet day for sales. First time I've ever seen a Chapman set, the 1/4 ratchet selector switch was odd enough to get bought.

^ I see a long handle 1/2" Craftsman

3bay
Is that Facom nos set France or non France? Either way they are very good wrenches and I would have bought those if I saw a set.

They are marked France on the beams. I bought a lug nut socket once and it was Japan made surprisingly.

I finally got my a** out of bed this week to check out a few sales this morning. 3 sales and a TOO. Only the first sale was worth bothering with. The listing advertised "mechanics tools". The sale was mostly the usual household cast offs, but there was a small table with tools on it and for once it wasn't the usual garage sale junk. Mostly SnapOn, Cornwell, SK, Craftman, with a smattering of no name junk. All the SnapOn was tagged with eBay prices. So for the most part, no joy there.

Still, I was able to pick up a couple of things. He wanted $30 and we settled on $20.

SK/Dresser #4913 13pc 1/4dr SAE socket set (complete - including the plastic tray)
SnapOn SSDM80A 8" magnetic bit driver w/bits

Today’s small haul…

Billings M1723 (1930's), Danielson's "44" slip joints, Diamond Calk 11-inch auto wrench with the US Navy stock number (N.A.F. 1106-4) and a black oxide finish, and a vintage rawhide mallet in exceptional shape. The thing in the NOS box appears to be a hydrometer. Not the syringe type with the rubber squeeze ball at the end, obviously. This type would have to float upright in whatever it was testing. Marked "GOULD STORAGE BATTERY COMPANY, DEPEW, NY". Gould was one of the early companies that eventually became Exide. I am estimating 1930's, perhaps 1940's. Can anybody school me on this type of hydrometer?

That hydrometer, as you say would have to float free in the acid or other liquid so if in fact it was from the battery company it was used for testing bulk acid. Back in the day the batteries were shipped dry and the acid was added at the garage. The garage would often carry a quantity of acid and fill the new battery only when it was sold. In fact some batteries are shipped this way today for motorcycles. So the hydrometer could be from the factory or the garage.

KayakR, The Wilton is long out of production so likely parts won't be available, but contact Wilton and see.

Its missing 3 sets of jaws -- smooth, serrated, and pipe. slip fit pins, in all cases.

I would fab up some aluminum plates, and match drill and make some pins and call it a day. The original jaws were thin; less than 1/4" so maybe 3/16 or so.

I can't complain about today's visit to the pawn shop. A perfect T72 Snap On ratchet, a 6mm raised panel wrench and 9 USA Craftsman sockets all for 5 bucks.

I've been using one that size in my shop for well over 30 years now RF! It does the job well! A second holds medium length metal stock and pipe leftovers.

This one was holding $.50 bundles of wood at a garage sale today. My great uncle used to have a bunch of Pure Oil (later Union 76) stations. If I ever get to build my dream shop, it'll go good with all the porcelain Pure Oil signs and Union 76 globes.

Six planned stops, I skipped the last one (not started yet when I was done, and out of my normal range...)

Nothing earth shattering, but worth the time!

Wicks (mostly one size, two orphans...), Watering wand, and two pieces of silver plate: $1 all

attachment.php

$3 for Bling bits for SWMBO and/or my daughter, and a P&C DBE
- this one has the (R) next to P&C and I can't recall seeing that marked...

attachment.php

Proto combo and driver, 2 Plvmb, 2 MAC, and three metric Thorsen. These were same model of some I got a few weeks ago, and two sizes matched... The scraper has a hardened insert the last 3/8" or so of the thing. $5 all

attachment.php

A crystal Shot glass, emergency candles, an illustrated Hobbit, and a 1903 edition of "Beautiful Joe" about a dog that was abused and rescued. Reputedly a true story. $1 from a last day Estate sale

attachment.php

And last but not least, a quick charger (It even has a fan to keep it/the batteries cool!) for AA and AAA NiMh batteries. $2 I like this as it has an 11-18V DC input and I just happened to have a 12V cord that fit it in the "collection" (took 4-5 tried but I had it!) So this will be great on the road instead of fussing with an inverter... Well worth $2!

I dig all the cabinets. And nice little SK set Jakemac.

Haven't been out much lately but went out today on a cruise and hit a few stops.

Little Columbian USA vise, Tote-All, Proto 1/4" & 3/8" speeder, PowrKraft chain wrench, Almost complete Indestro hex set + some extra hex sockets (they had the parts scattered all over the barn. Spent way too long rummaging around trying to find everything, got most of it I believe) Stanley clamp, Vaco P4 screwdriver, KD USA metric hex set, 2 Knu-Vise VW-7 locking pliers (interesting little pliers, never heard of them before, no COO but look pretty good and older so maybe USA?) last two little clamps. $17
