Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

I found 3, 25# tubs of deckmates :) Thanks for the heads up!

I left one tub because I didn't want to risk taking all 3 at once, and having it all taken away by the cashier. I actually also grabbed a small box of screws just so my order total wasn't $0.02.

What's the best way to pay for pennies at SCO? I used a gift card to try to speed through, but it was actually a store credit and it required cashier assistance. Luckily she didn't do anything.

Coins is best. I had to use a $20 dollar bill and she did not say anything.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

One other dumb question - my store seems to only sell tan and green screws. Tan makes sense, but are green supposed to be a generic color? Or are there really a lot of people out there with green decks? Now that I've got 50# of screws, I need to plan out how to use them.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

When I was first doing penny deals and was skittish I would make sure to have pocket change with me and to pay cash to get through as fast as possible, trying to time it when the attendant was helping someone else. If nobody else was as SCO then I would ring up my normal priced items first because they would always glance at the screen.

One time I went for a couple penny deals, had no change / cash... Paid .02 on my credit card... hahaha...

Tan is a good match for natural wood, the green & red are common colors that people will paint decks I guess...

When i got my first 2 buckets of screws the sco wasn't taking cash so i ran my debit card for .01 twice because i did it in 2 trips.

I use tons of these screws for deer stands and shelves for storage so i dont care about the color.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

anyone know any HD promo codes?

not currently, but ppl here rarely post the barcode list...
the barcode list is a few white pieces of paper, usually at sco, customer service, or sometimes appliances too. ask them for it and expect some cluless answer but be persistent about 'barcodes'. the barcodes on the paper give some sizeable deals and change at least monthly, if not sooner. lots of time you have to fight for them or they require an override but they usually do it. theres a menu they can click on their screen that will pull them up too. i used to be able to tell the clueless ones how to do it but i dont remember now < im sure someone reading this knows tho >

also some associates can give a random $50 off.

another good tip is to collect harborfreight coupons for competitor matching < ymmv >... ace runs excellent coupons for matching too < also ymmv, but much higher success rate than HF >. the garden center checkout is usually golden for the harbor freight coupons bc the person out there can usually override stuff themselves so that someone doesnt have to walk all the way out there

Usually any employee can give you 10% off your purchase if you ask. Anything higher requires an override but if you are getting a bunch it doesn't hurt to talk to someone over at the customer service desk if they aren't busy...

Found a 25 pounder up high. The guy got it and did not scan it. Two rolls of trim coil @$20.03. The lady scanned all of it and said it was my lucky day.

Finally! Husky 60 gallon compressor for $123. SKU 911625. Other local stores have stock but not clearance pricing, so perhaps just a single store deal. But these usually go for $499, so worth a look.

Had to search the entire store about three times, they ended up being in the back employees' area - which is actually right where I started and hour earlier and they said 100% for sure they are not here. They finally let me look for myself and BAM. More compressor than I'll likely ever need, but isn't that what you're supposed to do for compressors?

Lots of Deck Mate 25#ers but still full price, was able to get a few of the 5# at what seemed to be 1/3 pricing but not $.03

Oh wow you ****! I'll trade you the deck screws for the compressor any day!

I'm going to try and swing by HD tomorrow while running errands... I doubt mine will have any compressors like that marked down but you never know!

Volo

Under 'Pick Up In Store' it just states that 'This product isn't currently sold in stores'

I wanted to search the local inventory to see if anyone had one on the shelf at $99.

Go to the Crystal lake store.

Do you think their webpage would reflect these prices? I checked my 4 local HDs but all $499. Would I just have to go to each of these stores and hope for the best?

As people have said previously, if it shows in stock at 499, they aren't clearanced (for that sku). If not available, then there is a chance.

Mine actually said no longer sold at store going thru the regular website with my store selected (I saw that when the employee looked it up on the regular website). But I was there to look for the screws, just checked the PCA for some usual suspects. Told the employee to check the PCA and then the treasure hunt began.

They don't have them at the register because they are in the Online Cashier Book. They are updated weekly but many run for a month or more. And they don't require an override.

hey jeep send my regards to queen tim!

ahhh yes the 'online cashier book'. tis the name. tis the name.
you are correct that they do not require an override if you play by the coupons stipulations but something to note is that it doesnt always precisely say what the stipulations are and once you venture outside the stipulations or add on a HF coupon on top of it then it triggers the override...
ie: if theres a barcode for a free battery or free tool when you buy 'a drill set' the barcode wont stipulate which drill set triggers the coupon.. so you can literally pick up a clearance drill set and unless you have a smart cookie who knows which drill set the promo stipulates they will usually just override it and let you have it 'for being so patient'. prepare to waste 30 mins and get lucky 80% of the time.

Re: 2018 Home Depot Clearance Thead

So I swung by my HD while running errands...

Looked at compressors, there were some hotdog models at .06 pricing, but then I saw that little 8-gallon for $38.02, I remembered seeing a bunch in the store last time up front at like $76.** pricing... Inventory said one so the hunt was on! One of the guys saw me staring up at the rafters and asked if he could help. He looked it up on his phone and we went to a few different areas (including up front where it said they should have been) but we didn't find it. I looked 90% of the isles in the rafters and finally just gave up. It was only an oil-less, I didn't even really know what I would do if I did find it. Next time I'm going to look more closely at those other compressors on clearance see what their specs are. Definitely no upright 60 or 80 gallons though. :(

I did grab the very last compact pneumatic impact wrench for $33.03, I don't know if the display model works, I figured leave it for someone else as I really didn't even need this one. But I'm pretty sure my neighbor wants it. lol

Found 8 x 1-lb boxes of 2" screws on the shelf, they were a penny.

Found 6 x 3-pk of Diablo CARBIDE 6" 8-TPI metal cutting blades... penny!

The girl at self-checkout was even kind enough to de-magnatize the diablos so they wouldn't see off the alarm... lol

My store had some other diablos, like 9" bi-metal 5+1 packs I think they were that were still at .06 price. The blades to look for aren't on the tool isle, they are near the front of the store / by the pro desk / possibly by ladders (depending on your store layout) at a stand-alone display that had recip blades, circular saw blades, flap discs & grinding wheels, and screw bits...

Last time I saw a promo code was for $5 off $50 for in-store pickup orders. I think this was when they were advertising the ability to do online orders for in-store pickups? Like 3 years ago I think!

Yes, CLCJD.

Monte needs exhaust right now, but I'm hoping to have it on the road this spring.

Thinking I'll be hitting up HD tomorrow after work though. Thanks

Wow, that would be amazing! But finding out this may be a no go for me, the $1200-$1500 to bring out a 240v line definitely offsets the $375 I saved on the compressor. Or maybe my wife doesn't need to use the dryer anymore? ;)

Maybe she doesn't need to use it at the same time, though! ;) Average household loads of laundry per week is around 7; at no more than 1.5 hours each, that's only about 10 hours a week that the dryer actually needs to be plugged in. If you have enough space to leave the dryer outlet reachable for easy swapping, it doesn't seem like that big of a problem to me. Your wife might disagree just on principle, though. :p

Edit: IDK if the outlets/wiring are different or what, I was just going off of trijeff's comment making it sound like they were compatible. Just having fun with it anyway.

A dryer receptacle is wired differently and is not safe to use for a compressor or other 220V device.

How is it wired differently? All new residential electric dryers are on a 4 wire 30 amp 10 gauge wire. At least all the ones I have done in the last 20 years.
