I think it has to be available to ship for free for the other location to work.

My boss picked uip the 2 battery Ryobi +charger with the 1/2" impact gun for $99 with the free tool deal at HD. Great deal on that. Saw the brushless 1/4" driver was there too.

I used the deal to get the Ryobi vacuum for around $50 after returning batteries. Bought a milwaukee adapter to use my 9ah milwaukee battery with it.

Unfortunately you can't use a HD coupon with the "free tool" deal.

One of the stores close to me is absolutely loaded up with tool boxes as well. I bet they've got close to 100 in stock.

They're $99 here too. It's hard to tell how well any of the various impacts/drivers work.

As for boxes, the store near me doesn't have a ton on the floor, and the deals are OK, but not great. The really wide ones aren't on sale at all. They have three huge ones for over $900 each. Would love to see those on clearance, because they have huge (wide) drawers.

I was in the Fargo ND store, who has a #@it load of them including the workbench in white, and they wouldn't budge a penny.

Their tough luck as I would have taken two of the workbenches and a upper/lower 42" chest.

The $99 Ryobi BOGO deal has been mentioned already - but I thought I'd mention a specific "free" tool that I think others may be interested in:

Ryobi 18V Portable Band Saw - $129

This band saw is a new tool from Ryobi - just released in the last month I think. After returning the battery kit, it comes to $59. I've found myself needing a portaband on a number of occasions but the one made by my main 18V platform (Bosch) very poor reviews. I already have the Ryobi batteries for non-essential tools/gadgets, so for $59 I think this portaband is a great deal. A portable band saw fills a niche that other tools can't really match.

You would be better off with harbor freight $99 bandsaw corded stronger then the ryobi one.

If you are getting ryobi tools my suggestions is only get these. Any impact; grinder and sawzall. Get the brushless version IF offered under the free tool program! The double pack of 4ah batteries are also good bang for your buck wise.

Keep in mind the multitool packs are cheaper designed tools. Look at the sawzall if it's not a big one it's a cheapened tool pack. FYI you can buy home depot return ryobi tools cheap from CL; offerup; FB; or that direct website ppl post. Good returns batteries are hard to find though.

Anybody know the deal with all the Home Depot products on OfferUp and marketplace? There seem to be some people that have a lot of items new in box that are Home Depot brands. I can't imagine they are buying all these on clearance for cheap. Is Home Depot somehow unloading this stuff at auctions or something? Seems like too much for it to be five finger discount stuff.

It is home depot returns you can buy by the pallet and the cordless hand tools are very profitable quick sales.

Unfortunately you can't use a HD coupon with the "free tool" deal.

You should be able to use a coupon if it is percent off or dollar off the transaction. The free tool deal is an item promotion and the system will allow one transaction level per transaction and one item level per item.

Or else they changed the promotion engine recently.

Free tool is considered a "group promo," same as a dollar off or % off the transaction. Now, taking a % or $ off the individual tool is allowed (item level), but not the total purchase price. This is why military & free tool discounts don't stack. Nothing has changed for quite some time either.

Thanks, will check my local hd. Could use that light. Anyone have one? Any good?
I have one that a bought last year. I use it all the time. I mostly use it for doing electrical work when a circuit it off, but I also use it for painting and for working in the garage.
I think a 4ah battery would last you all day.

Hows the vaccum?
I have the little 3 gallon shop vac. It sure is handy not having to lug the big Rigid vaccuum up and down stairs to clean up small jobs.

There has had to be some sort of policy change within Depot's upper management. The three stores I visit are all swollen with merchandise, the clearance endcaps are packed, and there are new "clearance" sections being created anywhere they can find open shelf space. Those tool boxes that didn't sell are still piled up all over the store, including seasonal.

I'd say 80-90% of the clearance markdowns were $2 or less. There was one faucet on the endcap that was marked down a whopping 52 cents.

Yes I’d say for the last 6 months or more I’ve noticed all clearance end caps are markdowns of $1-2 only. I used to enjoy swinging by and taking a peak at the clearance section every once in a while but it’s pointless now

I've seen similar tactics around here, both at HD and Lowe's. I think I've also seen yellow tags with no actual discount. Now that's irritating...

That's how the majority of clearance items have been around me for well over a year. Every once and a while I'll find something worth picking up, but not often.

My local HD is packed with tool boxes. The "clearance" ones are like $100 off $798. Not exactly a clearance.

I get the impression that both HD and Lowes are trying HARD to increase profit margins in recent months. I have not seen the killer deals that I've been able to get easily in months and years past.

I was in Lowes today and saw an item on the Closeout Shelf that was marked down 1 cent from $49.99. Couldn't believe it.

Keeping stuff that's on clearance is not increasing profit margins, especially when stores place those items on the endcaps, where the majority of traffic walks past.

The good managers are happy when they see me come in, because I buy so much clearance. I had one manager tell me he would even give me an additional 50% off the clearance price, just to get it out of the store! If it's on clearance, that means it didn't sell. I'm not talking about the stuff i find on topstock, it's obvious why that stuff didn't sell. The endcaps should contain items that people walk past and think, oh yea, I need some of that.
