What template is that on your router?

Workspaces between 485 and 705 squarefeet.
No idea if it's still sold as I've probably had it 10 years, but sure there are others like it. 1/8 diameter pin/drill bit for pivot point. I picked up a couple extra bases for my bosch routers at some point on a garage sale and just keep it permanently attached to a plunge base as I find it easier to swap the motor to the other base vs find the template, screws, get it screwed on etc

The mount on top of your cyclone is very similar to my Oneida. How big is the opening?
The blower fan is a 10" diameter. Dimensionally the cyclone seems very close to the Oneida C950, main difference is this has a 6" inlet.
Did get a vfd and some other components ordered, so maybe early next week I can spin it up if I get an outlet wired up for it

As I'm thinking about it...my 2 complaints with it
-I lose the center pin...but it's an 1/8" so drill bits are easy to find and I needed one for the pivot point anyway
-its designed for 1/4" cutter diameter....I rarely have them so make adjustments to use my 3/8" uncut
Neither of the complaints are even slightly significant... I'd recommend it. In full disclosure, I haven't used any others so not sure if I'm missing something amazing.....but it's a plate with holes in it so think they're all pretty similar
Bit more progress
Vfd showed up...a chunky little guy:
M12 portaband is very handy for cutting conduit. Going to run a new 3/4" run up along the top of the wall with 3 junction boxes. Immediately only the last one will be used for the dust collector
And in this mess I promise is shop infrastructure improvements in process lol. 3 new boxes are along the top of the wall above that high shelf and behind the bike trailer
At this point the conduit is done, wires pulled and terminated into the panel. Next up is to work up the vfd "panel" which will be on a piece of plywood to start and then get the blower motor on top of the cyclone. I debated putting plugs on the vfd panel and dust collector to make it easy to use to power something else but opted against and will hardwire it.
Also picked up some of the acoustic foam panels to stick on the corner and ceiling around the motor as a start to managing the noise level

Yup, new motor time. Not a sealed housing so it has a lot of debris caked in there and I just don't think it's worth it to dig deeper so off to find a new motor

No, but I did just get the case off and confirmed that at some point it had work done to the windings and they didn't make the other leads long enough to run into the splice box. I've dealt with this a couple other times on stuff that came from Boeing, they preferred to only use 440/480v on the 3 phase and if they had to do motor work on it they didn't care about keeping the dual voltage functionality so they wouldn't make the leads long enough to run to the splice box, just long enough to bond together as required.

Does anyone rebuild motors any more, or is it more expediant and cost efficient just to hunt down a suitable replacement? By anyone I mean electrical shops. I come from the time where you could get a faulty car starter rebuilt rather than spend the $$ for brand new. That may be a thing of the past now.

Have you reached out to Clearvue yet? Might be able to get a deal on an impeller/motor combination.
While most things aren't perfect, I have one of these and it is certainly handy! I would recommend adding one to any tool arsenal
For small stuff like this where I don't care about used, it's likely going to be cheaper to replace. There are at least 2 shops here that do motor service work and I've used one of them for motor repair work from my time in a prior role with factory support. That was on much larger, longer lead time units where new was 5 figures but bigger issue was 6+ month lead time.
Great minds! I did reach out to clearvue as they used to sell the individual cyclone components but they don't any longer. There is an impeller housing for sale on the bay....but the 15 or 16" impeller if I'm following Pentz recommendations is harder to come up with for a semi reasonable fee. It appears Grizzly has a 15" I could try but for $350 bucks for the impeller only it's a spendy thing to try but might give it a shot.
What I may try here in the "near term" is to rob the 2HP jet motor off the dust collector and rework the top end of the cyclone to get it functional and see how things work as I sort out longer term options here

Good luck on getting a motor for the dust collector! Do you have some options on getting a motor? What are the specs you need to ensure that the new motor has to fit in the dust colelctor?

Ok, well it's slightly better than nothing, but it doesn't always feel like it.
We made a big step towards some closure in the case of the sister in law killed by a reckless driver(also drunk but doing 60 mph over the speed limit) in that the driver was sentenced and got more than a slap on the wrist...but it doesn't change what happens. Regardless, it's a big milestone the family needed to get put in the rearview to move forward.
Also spending a fair amount of time helping mow yards the last couple weeks with a cousin as we help try and keep up the father in laws side hobby/time killer I mean lawn service. It's fortunately been downsized substantially and is just a couple yards a week...but still ends up being 4 or 5 hours a week which adds up quickly. Hopefully this midwest heat wave will slow down grass growth
Had an improptu zoo trip one day as the kids daycare lost power so I got to take on surprise kid duty that morning. Very fortunate my job is flexible enough to accommodate that more days than not.....though it ended up more as a change of hours than a day of vacation as the house got made up over the next 2 nights. Still not something everyone has the ability to do

Wife got a damaged piece of merchandise in, no surprise some threaded inserts for M6 screws that were threaded into MDF for a coffee table and shipped assembled pulled out. They weren't sure how to get the 1/2" MDF off the marble top without damage but I soaked it for about a day in the kiddie pool
Worked a chisel around the edge
And success!
At least there isn't a matching pair, so I'll recut a 1/2 or 3/4" thick plywood piece, edgeband and paint it then reglue it to the top with some construction adhesive. The gold painted flange is what gets screwed to it and I'll probably skip the threaded inserts and drill 3 more holes and use some #12 wood screws with painted heads and stay on the good side of the wife and her boss whose client this is for
Got practice helping to move a playset with a cousin. Fortunately he lined up sufficient help so we could do it in (2) halves...top and bottom so it was all setup and ready to go in about 4 hours from start to finish....way faster then when I did it!
That more or less brings us up to tonight...when I saw this after supper on FB Marketplace and was listed in the same town I was:
5 minutes later I was in the car with the wife and 2 kiddos for a quick car trip(was about 5 minutes away)
Based on this should be a 350SJ

I don't like the gloss finish on the plywood....her coworkers liked it...but it's the bottom of the table so doesn't matter. Apparently some of the office was amazed that it could be fixed in a garage....I commented that some of her coworkers need a better understanding of how things are made....she didn't disagree.
Then another wife project took over
Actually this one's my fault. Inflatable "water jumpy" as the 4 yr old calls it was up over the weekend and we got rained out so it took over a stall for a day to dry out
And back to garage related...more shelving going up to try and make some room for dust collection here soon....hopefully in another week or so it looks a bit back together and the major tools can be used without significant shuffling of **** around

I've been getting them from Menards which I don't think you have, but they have 3 or 4 different brands...all very similar but just different enough they're not interchangeable. Sure one of the other big boxes has them as well, Menards had a Rubbermade branded solution that was a bit more but was "more finished" looking as it was painted instead of galvanized and also came with option for wire shelving. I'm just using these from Menards as when I did the first round I priced it all out and this was cheaper and they had a few higher capacity brackets
The weight capacity is completely ridiculous for this though....the bracket on that top level is this:

300 pounds a bracket...I've got 7 of them supporting 200 lbs of lumber....wee bit of overkill.
I'm using GRK structural screws for hanging them, 2" screws for the top rail then I sink 1 or 2 into the verticals that are 3" long(as the vertical shelf standard projects about 1"). They go up very quickly once all the **** is out of the way and very adjustable which is one of the things I like. You do loose some storage space with the higher weight capacity/longer brackets with the support strut under them...but I'm probably only using it at the very top so it's tolerable. I've thought about drawing up some of the other style bracket like this:

At a 15" length and pricing them to be laser cut by SendCutSend or similar and see how the pricing is as some big, deep, lighter things it'd be nice to have that extra option....but just haven't gotten there and I honestly need to focus more on decluttering and getting rid of some stuff then going that extra mile to store it.....oops

I end up on the phone quite a bit in my shop. I put the AirPods in and pace mostly. Always have paced on the phone. When I’m at the shop, I clean, organize, and in general put things away. This really helps my horizontals. That and I really like them being a working surface and not a longer term storage location

Pacing on the phone is something I'm very good at! I'm fortunate I don't spend as much time on the phone as I have in prior roles so I get less "casual pickup of ****" done during those moments but I'd been thinking of making a shelf by the garage TV to be able to easily set my laptop on, hook into HDMI on the TV and be able to "pace" the garage during those moments with a presentation up....might have to move that up the list! Thanks for continuing to follow along and offering encouragement!
Didn't get much done over the weekend as was out of town for the bulk of it attending what my mother jokes is the annual reunion of "The men who wear pearl snap shirts." Between us in Chicago then Covid we hadn't been able to attend in 5 or 6 years so was good to be close enough to head down to Topeka, KS to attend. Nothing fancy, just a lunch meal bookended by conversations but did go down the night before and the littles played in the hotel pool with the brothers 3 yr old so good to catch up there.
Over the 6 or 7 weeks I've been nursing the air conditioning in the wife's Volvo XC60 as it required the occasional snort of not yet illegal R-134a....over past couple weeks it's habit has been increasing to weekly snorts....thank goodness it's cheaper than the 1234YF stuff! Finally had the long scheduled appointment at the addiction clinic(Volvo dealer) today...evaporator coil leak....great.....there goes $2,400 and change. It's a bear to replace it appears as most of the dash comes out and I don't touch AC systems really(except for the mentioned snorts)....so it goes back on Tuesday at end of the day for that to start...hopefully it's back to us on Thursday but latest is supposed to be Friday.
However I wasn't about to pay 164 bucks for a cabin air filter change....even when the service writer repeatedly said it'll just be part cost, no labor since he'll be there anyway....yeah still no out of stubborn-ness more than anything....so.....

Ok so not sure yet if the last one works....but I liked the standard size ones well enough I went ahead and "scaled up" one to hold the larger 2.5" diameter tubes then stretched it in the Y axis(bed travel dimension) to roughly max out the Prusa bed to hold the longer tubes better. It literally just got done printing since I started this post...so it'll get trialed in the morning

That ***** on the Volvo but I understand it’s a big job to tear the dash apart. I think tacking on an overpriced air filter is a requisite of going to the dealer…
every damn time…The garage is looking good and I like that little floating shelf for the track saw with the M12 holders underneath. Don’t think I’d noticed that before.
Close....though it'll be "over" cabinet lighting...and this is more for me...cause it's cool....and who doesn't like glassware that glows(that's a hint)

I'll be honest as we're all friends here....the focus on working "on" the workshop instead of "in" the workshop is because I'm too nervous about some of the larger projects rolling around in my head. With as much stuff as we've dealt with in the personal life, I'm overly(and admittedly) irrationally hesitant(procrastinating) starting any of the larger projects cause I don't want them sitting around partly finish....like the CNC....laser upgrade....list goes on....
I'm honestly feeling better about the condition of the workspace...and if I can get the dust collection working...even on just the tablesaw/router table part I'm going to feel a lot better about that and have far fewer excuses. Got some Adirondack style chairs to make...then some built in storage units....amongst other things

Yeah....so I screwed up there.....lesson maybe learned....
Part was supposed to be in Tuesday afternoon for tech to start working on once it showed up, wife dropped it off about 4....I picked up her at work(25 minute drive for me) at end of day and she's got my truck until her ride is back....good thing I work from home.
Part didn't show up Tuesday afternoon....actually none of their "critical" parts did
Called about 1:45 today to check status....service advisor out...receptionist was overly helpful...."critical" parts shipment didn't arrive again....great....claimed the shipper didn't do the pickup at the port...ok so they're not even driving distance from us if you're talking ports....
I was polite but insistent that we were tolerating the car in their shop for up to 3 days without a loaner but tolerating was the right word and that it was not acceptable for them to keep it over the weekend without a loaner. If it hasn't been started that's fine...we're getting it on Thursday then and they can try again next week after the part is physically in their possession....but pretty irritated with myself I agreed to drop it off without a loaner on a promised part arrival date.....1st world problems. Service advisor is supposed to call me back in the morning with an updated status...see how that goes.

Thanks....and the tracksaw shelf and drill holders underneath is pretty new...last month or two? Trying to make more efficient use of wall space...the holders were a print that failed on me but I didn't toss out for some reason but works ok for the M12 stuff....would like to reprint it slightly smaller but for now it works and gets them off a workbench!
And kinda sorta speaking of things that I procrastinate starting real projects over....
Was working thru some drawers the other day, trying to prioritize more valuable tools into prime locations and less used stuff into other spots...and came across this:
So yeah....I as the typical suburban indentured servant to the house I live in has a 24" steel Ridgid pipe wrench...that I'm pretty sure I haven't ever used as it was part of a $10 lot at an auction....but it's still in a prime location in one of the toolboxes lol. But now after 20 or so minutes its cleaner, fixed some boogers on a jaw, lubed it and need to find an out of the way place to store it as it's taking up far to valuable of space where it is....hopefully to forget it's there as I don't ever need it

Not overly impressed with a 1/2" drive ratchet set having 10 and 11mm in it....would much rather have seen it start at 12 and go up from there so I'm likely going to ruin the labeling and replace the 10 and 11 with the correct size lug nut sockets for my truck and volvo...as I'm assuming they're not the same size but can't remember offhand and it'll get dedicated to the truck but intended to move over to the wife's carriage for road trips

That Wera is a 1/2” drive set? What 10mm bolt or nut needs a 1/2” drive setup? Guess that’s when you just shear the rusted nut or bolts off at that size drive.
Agreed...10mm on a 1/2" drive is just asking for trouble! Here is a better pic with coffee mug for scale and the factory cheater bar hooked up
The factory cheater bar concept is cool and feels well executed as you'd expect from Wera. Should I need it on lugnuts.....no....but depends on how many ugga ugga's the prior guy/gal used...if I do need it will be glad I have it!

That cheater would be used every time you remove a lug nut in the rustbelt.
As for your 24" pipe wrench, I used to have 3' and 4' pipe wrenches. I am unsure if I still have it though. I might have left it on my dad's property when I sold the property. Coming from the oil field it wasn't common to keep those size tools around.

I've been eyeing some wera stuff when I go to travers, specifically a nice set of screw drivers, but keep himhawing....guess i need to find this hot deals thread and start keeping an eye out

We've got a couple 3' or 4' pipe wrenches on the farm....only time I can recall using them was on a John Deere 860A scraper like this one(image from the interwebz):
Couple of those hydraulic return lines were big...and this vintage of machine has enough hydraulic lines(and leaks) to keep a small OPEC nation in business if you run the machine often(we didn't). I recall 1 time when in anger those big wrenches had to come out as it was the best way we had to get enough leverage to break loose a couple of the fittings. We had the right size combination wrench but couldn't get enough leverage with it. Definitely one of those tools most are glad to never actually need
It wasn't an overly sad day when usage of that scraper was obsoleted by a pull behind pan scraper behind a 4wd articulated tractor that has air conditioning, a radio and far more operator comfort. We use them for dirt work on fields, terrace repair, waterway rebuilding etc so they may see usage a couple times a year and the pull behind pan scraper is far more comfortable and sits without attention much cheaper since we already owned the big horse to pull it
