Changing spark plugs done....and based on the condition it wasn't really necessary



But I now know the condition and age...and it didn't take long so not a big waste

Just found out we are having a play date tomorrow though so now I need to go mow so the water jumpy can be setup so won't get to the plugs and distributor cap next as I had originally planned ...oh well

For sure worth it! $1,700 is a lot. Now you can use that as justification to use on something you want but don't need! That's what I do anyways...

I always admire your ability to get out in the garage for a few hours here or there, and tackle something small or even incomplete. I often struggle to do that, but when you stack it up it amounts to getting things done!

I feel the same. During the week it seems that by the time the kids are down and I've got some time, it's nearly bedtime! Weekends always seem to have some sort of activity, too.

Thanks for taking the time to comment while you dodge the Minnesota state bird I mean mosquitoes lol As this was wife's show...she did what she wanted to do with the money...being overly responsible she deposited it into the kids investment accounts lol ...how boring. But I did end up with some more sticks of 3/4" emt conduit for ceiling light additions! As if I needed another project to distract me lol

I've grown very "attached" to the fully conditioned, attached garage...I wasn't expecting getting it comfortable all the time would be this damn nice. Most of my weekday garage time is short increments ..10 minutes while cooking...an occasional 30 minutes if I went home over lunch etc. With a doorstop to hold the door to the garage open I can hear the kitchen timers, kids getting too rowdy etc so it works well for picking up ****, little organization projects etc. A couple nights a week I get 1 to 2 hours out there after kids are down, weekends may get a couple hours but are just as likely to be nothing depending on what else is happening. Recently the garage time has been maybe a little more "supported" as I've been working on the Nova family cruiser...not sure how long that will last. The list of incomplete projects is growing rapidly so I'm trying to get the Nova initial "work" done so can drive it more, shake out the other gremlins that come up and maybe figure out next steps on it. Kids enjoyed getting groceries and donuts in it on Sunday morning

Still need to do the tuneup on the HEI distributor

Got the dash pulled back apart to inspect speaker wiring, no loose connections found yet but the head unit was doing some weird stuff so going to reach out to their customer service. When it was on Bluetooth input but nothing playing on the phone, it was playing the last FM station listened to very softly. If the car was running I couldn't have heard it...so no solution there yet

Tonight I started in on the subframe bushings, there are 3 on each side tieing together the front subframe to the body and they appeared to be original.

Appear to be original once I got them out. They at least have Chevrolet in the rubber bushing so if not original at least OEM


The bolts came out shockingly easy...I had hit them a couple times with PB Blaster but was expecting a fight...didn't happen. Rear and middle swapped well. Had more issues with the front/radiator core support one, but eventually got the passenger side done, torqued and back on the ground. See if I can get the drivers side going tomorrow after I drill out a washer as they shorted me one for the 5/8 bolts and gave an extra for the 1/2. If they weren't 2.5" OD I would just buy another washer but don't feel like finding those locally

Yeah, little nervous about this as they were pretty worn. Going to deal with it once both sides are replaced... Not excited about having to tweak those big ole doors

If you do have to adjust the door, use a floor jack with lots of towels to cushion the lift point for paint reason. Or you could use a cherry picker with a strap, but I would opt for the floor jack and trying to lift the door behind the lip, use 2x4 to spread the load and lots of towels on the contact points. But, if the body panels haven't been touched after the bushing were worn out, then you will just probably notice the door closing better and the fender lining up better.

When you're "volun-told" that you're cutting down some vent/louvers for toe kicks on your wife's day job project and forget to do it until she reminds you the night before at 10:15....you get to get up early to do it




Angle grinder, M12 bandfile and some white paint and they're ready for install...well once the paint dries

And this is all of course purely hypothetical as husbands never forget anything added to their to do list

Finished driver's side yesterday, went a little faster but the radiator support was still the worst.

Had to drill out the provided washer for the larger 5/8" bolts on the rear two...easy peasy








These bushings didn't owe the car anything

Next up is hopefully engine and ****** fluid(including new pan with drain) then radiator hoses, heater hoses and coolant. Still have lots of paint correcting & polishing to do as well

****** pan off, fluid looks good. Turns out this pan did have a drain plug but the new pan is shiny so it will go on lol. Ordered an external seal/gasket kit to replace the easy to access ones with the pan off.



Valvoline VR1 shows up in the morning cause I couldn't find it locally, if i'm smart I'll take tomorrow off work and work on projects.... so I'm probably at work

If it's that easy maybe I'll replace engine oil pan and get 10 extra hp!

Gasket seal kit for the ****** won't be here for a couple days so I'll get things cleaned up, filter changed and new pan in place to keep it clean and get it off the jackstands and probably go back to paint correcting and the other things on the never ending list. At least knowing in my head it's not driveable takes a bit of pressure off me to get it out this weekend.
