Steve, the little things can get you. So good to hear they found the clot right away and took steps to clear it. I have lost several friends who were on the mend when a clot moved. As good as my prayers might be my faith in Julie trumps them.

Bob that was a great relief and to be able to treat the clots so early. I believe it is pretty common in Cancer patients. Julie is doing a top job on the Celexane injections which will go on for 10 days then onto pills.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers to her..

And the pin cushion continues. So what's a flathead worth if you found it in a boneyard and it's been sitting there for 40+ years?

xtremek we have been able to avoid the pin cushion effect for a month or so at least.:thumbup:

I have had an insertion under local anaesthetic that eliminates the need to inject directly into veins for blood samples or chemo this was done yesterday under a local anaesthetics. So I have started on my next round of Chemo today on it an and it is working a treat.:thumbup:

Warning Gory Detail:shocking:

http://epiccholdings.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/fact-sheet-powerwand.pdf

Don't worry about the gory details it did not hurt at all.

So what is a flat head worth:headscrat
In one word any ones guess. We based our offer on risk to ourselves and that includes what would you pay for a scrapper/coffee table and what we had already detected that would need significant repair. Let me say at this point in time it was fairly low but attractive enough for consideration without being thrown in the bin as we are dealing through of a friend of an friend of an acquaintance. Detail to be confirmed as yet

Sorry to hear your New Year has started out hot and somewhat rocky, but it looks like your team is staying on top of the situation! Wow, beer and wine in the hospital; that's a new one, for sure, but if it raises your spirits(sic), I say go for it as a healing measure! Always in my thoughts and prayers, even though I don't get the chance to drop in often. Best wishes!

Ric we will get there for sure.

The lymph on my neck has reacted positively to the treatment so far and the team is doing well looking after me..

Beer and a nice wine is a healing measure for sure but like every thing it is about moderation for sure.

Thank you yet again for your thoughts and prayers they are truly appreciated.

Did your solar keep up with your aircon requirements today given the outages in Shepparton due to “load shedding”?

We lost power in the middle of the day for 2 hours or so at peak heat prior to the cool change coming through. I see you guys are still in the low 40s...

Ralf99 the solar is keeping up well but it does shut down on a power outage, time for a battery bank I am thinking:headscrat

Our power was down for about 1 1/2 hour tops which was bearable.

Still 44 C ( 111 F ) as at 6.00pm:shocking:

You will not regret a battery bank when you can sit under the cooler with a cold beer in front of the TV on a hot day whilst the rest of your city is in darkness. Yes I have been there and done that. Odd seeing the place in darkness when you can still have the cooler, lights & TV on. 1 1/2 hours. Sounds like you got caught in what they call power shedding.

Was great to talk via phone. You did sound a little worn, I am sure the heat along with everything else plays a part in that and sadly that looks like it may be the only way I catch up with you for a time. I'll update in the social group and some of it in Sheddwellers.

HOTFR8 for sure.

This is the first time in many many years we have had an outage and the first time in a load shedding outage.

Many thank for the call, I have to admit I was ready for bed last night but a good nights sleep cured that..

PS as I type this at 44 F we are now having a passing shower of rain.

Actually, thinking about it, shouldn't you be drinking a considerable amount of alcohol? It is a blood thinner, right? Just trying to offer sound medical advice. :lol_hitti:

That is correct but you did not take our (hot) weather into account. Alcohol is also a drying agent and in our hot weather at present you have to stay hydrated. Rum or Whiskey was once what was ordered by the Doctors. 1/2 may not be up to that.

1/2: hopefully your recent treatments are working as planned. maybe a call saying you and your brother were the winning bid on the flatheads might make you smile even more than usual.

I can't believe it can rain with 111 degree temps. is that like a hot shower?

prayers and good wishes sent and hope the heat wave stops soon in your part of the world. we've got mid 50's and sunshine here too which can't be normal for the middle of winter. I recall many of my birthdays shoveling a foot of snow 50 years ago this week of the year.

cheers

Drives the Chemo is working well from what I can tell.
Being a lighter dose so to speak I am not impacted as much with the side effects with just a little tiredness at this point so I am taking things very easy and just pottering in the shed and garden with nothing too strenuous at the moment.

Believe me it can rain at 111F it was only for a short spurt and I didn't shower in it. It has been quite a bit cooler these last two days if you could call mid 90s F mild.
We still have a bit of hot weather to come

Yes our bid on the 5 Flatheads was accepted :3gears:

We will be picking them up in a couple of weeks:thumbup:

Many thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Congrats on getting the Flatheads! I'm hoping they all turn out to be usable and someday one finds its way into your project.

Congratulations on the flatheads!

I assume some cracked blocks can be repaired. Sounds like your kind of job:bounce:

We have been over 115F here but there were no clouds in sight on days like that. 111F and rain would have been cool:headscrat Interesting, at least.

Keep up the good work on your cancer project!

1/2: are you and your brother going in on the flatheads as a team or did you just get involved for one nice one for your Model T (or is it an A)? in any case with both of your skills I hope you find that the worst case scenario isn't approached on the condition and that you can restore them all and maybe make a few sheckles or a free engine out of your work. I love picking up old rusty quality steel and cast iron stuff especially if it can still be made to work as good or better than a new item.

hope the side effects aren't too bad with the Cheemo and hopefully it's doing a great job getting rid of the cancer.

cheers

Bob many thanks

It will not be for the want of trying:3gears:

Good luck with your treatments mate, cancer has hit our family many times so I have a little idea what you're going through.

Danshell, thank you.

The Chemo treatment is making me a little foggy but it is getting there.

A rest week this week and Cycle 2 next week.

Every time I read flathead I get very hungry!!
But congratulatulaitons none the less!,
I'm off to the fish co-op......

Drives we will get involved together and just how that pans out I am unsure at this point in time, as it will be a longer term project with now firm plans as yet:thumbup:..

With the Chemo it just rest and more rest, taking things easy as it were

Sounds like you need to get some more engine stands 1/2 cup. Will be interesting to see your work on them - all in good time of course.

Hope you are resting well. We got the southerly change just before 5 today, it was very welcome.

Steve,
Just dropping by to say hello. Congrats on the flatheads and sorry to hear you have to endure another round of chemo.

This should cheer you up... because you're not here.
This was earlier this week (Jan. 29) Notice the windchill in small print below the big -33:
View media item 90274It's warmed up a bit to -5 today but now we're under a winter storm warning with 60 to 90 Km/h winds, and heading back to -30 in a few days.

Damn! My water bottle froze again!

Cheers!

Steve this is a whole new direction; flatheads. Stitching works well for the cracks. I have welded many but welding a block can make you crazy for sure. Now clocked stitching plugs could be real cool but what if the crack looks like a sine wave? That may be just too stressful Steve.:lol_hitti

1/2: how many years has it been since you and your brother have worked together on an engine? I bet with both your skills you might be the best team in Australia so good luck with that.

hope you are resting nicely and your meds are doing what they were designed to do.

how's your weight doing with all these rounds of meds and hospital visits? your attitude always seems amazing especially these last couple years while you are battling your cancer so keep smiling and hopefully this will all be behind you soon.

best wishes and prayers sent.

cheers

GB luckily our offer included some of the engine stands that are on them now..

I am quite looking forward to working on them myself:thumbup:

There is no real change in the weather here for a few days a least, staying in the high 30s. A change and rain would be most welcome.

I think he needs more cars...

Andy I luv it:lol_hitti

Hopefully being foggy now will allow you to get Froggy in the near future. Lol. Glad you’re taking it easy.

Shorty, seriously I am just kicking back as the Chemo does not give you a huge choice in the matter as it puts the handbrake on bigtime, what's more I have to let its job..

Steve's mellow is still twice as much as most of the rest of mortals do.

The second round of Chemo is just a 1/2 dose this time but I am coping well with it all things considered.

minus 33 c is way too cold for this black duck:shocking:
Stay warm!!

I am really hoping we don't have to stitch too many cracks.

Drives it has been many years since we both worked on an engine together however I have worked on individual bits and pieces for him:thumbup:

Rest and more rest it is:thumbup::thumbup:
I weigh in at 73 kg/158 lbs now, nearly back to my original weight of 171 lbs which I am extremely happy about..:thumbup:

With Chemo you do tend to loose your appetite and not to eat as you should but I am doing my upmost to avoid that.

I will be trying to keep cool.

It may be about time to add a surface grinder next to the mill in the shed before you wheel in the flatheads - not so much tetris that way. Just a thought....
