On that note I found a nice beer last weekend whilst away.
Matilda Bay Brewing do a beer called Minimum Chips.
Went to the Bottle shop here today and asked for Minimum Chips and the customer behind me looked at me as if I was a bit odd but the guy behind the counter new just what I was looking for.

A Waldowns look like it should be a straight forward rebuild
You could look at a keyless chuck, single phase motor conversion or a single phase to three phase converter if getting three phase on becomes to expensive.

I have three phase to the meter.. so hopefully not too expensive to run the 10m over to the garage through the roof.
Where would i look for a converter? I assume it would need a 15a socket?
I have no idea where to get a keyless chuck either.... i guess one step at a time..
If you have three phase there that's a great start, post a pic of your switchboard as its not the 10mt run that will be expensive, but the upgrade of your board and metering if its required.
There are plenty of proprietary brands on the market.

Not much to tell.. I had 26x260w REC panels put up. (18 facing due north, 8 facing due west).
Fronius Symo 5.0 3 phase inverter (it has wireless connectivity too so I can log in via wireless and check performance!)
Its been in since September but as I've had tennants in until last friday I have no idea how its helped!
It creates more energy than the inverter puts out but in WA we are limited to putting 5kW back into the grid. I was told it was better to feed it more and it will be better in winter when there is less sun...

Any plans on that Hot Water Service. I had a plumber looking at mine to day and he was shocked to learn the power had been off to it since November last year.
HOTFR8, HWS is high on the list for sure but I have not progressed any further at this point in time as there is a few projects taking precedence, dishwasher replacement just to name one. Yours is doing well.
We have been gradually replacing our 12 volt halogen down lights with LEDs as a trial and I must say there has been some mixed results thus far.
Some of the no name lamps have failed straight out of the pack, with some clearly not having the same light output and dutifully returned to the place of purchase for a replacement with mixed results again.
I can recommend the Osram BC LEDs, there is not much difference in terms of energy savings over a CFL but the light output is fantastic to that end where I have a 60 watter I am considering a 40 watt lamp.

1/2 cup: thanks for the welcome and i'm sure i'll enjoy the reading. i did read that a 6 pack of good beer is about $15 US and i can get a case of Stella Artois, Heineken or Corona for $22. so either your beer is 20 or 30 proof or damn expensive. if it's good that counts for a lot in my book because quality overrides quantity since i turned 30 about 30 years ago.
aside from the great beer and stories i'm sure i'll learn a ton on your thread as i read and catch up.

In regard to the beer, typically one of the more popular every day beers like Victoria Bitter or Carlton Draught we would pay say around AU$12.00 per six pack, a Slab of 24 is in the order of AU $45.00. Standard alcohol content is around 5.2% with heaps of half strength variants ( Mild, Mids ) on the market.
Prices for Beer do fluctuate here, much like our petrol prices do.

On the topic of football and that includes most codes, it is just a general interest thing for me. I like keep up to date with what's happening in football around the world for sure.
I did see some snippets of the game on the early news.
I don't have any one particular team that I follow in Aussie Rules and that helps me do pretty well with the tipping competitions we have at work as I tip with my head and not my heart as most pundits do. ( and that's a very un Australian thing for most )
I do follow our V8 Supercars and NASCAR with keen interest, even Mrs 1/2 Cup is a big fan.

Just makes sense. In a few years i can see myself investing in a battery storage system. 7c a kW return for excess is ridiculous.

A Hybrid or battery backup up makes so much sense. Why have all those Solar Panels doing nothing if the mains power is off.

Well not over the moon but when they (power suppliers) power shed in the Summer and turn off different areas in the heat it is good to know you still have your own power for cooling, water pumps etc. Even a short time without power can be terrible for business.

Another reason why I went Hybrid. If the mains is off I still have power.
I think we will slowly see the rebate go out like we did with the LPG for cars.

I am hoping the weather will be a little more conducive to getting a start on the Carport roof but failing that there is plenty of other small projects to keep me in the shed.
The draw slides and handles for the under bench draws arrived yesterday.

I have a good solid welding table, but do like the mobile one.
I picked up a Zimmerman frame this week, which means I have an adjustable for height, frame, some ply on top and we have a lightweight free painting, prepping table.

Upwardly mobile is great in a small shop like mine Rian, your Zimmerman should do the job well.

The angle isn't bent although it looks that way in the picture, I think its the camera angle and the chamfers I put on the angle iron that makes it appear that way.
The utility benches - the one with the timber top will remain as is and the new one will have a 5/16 plate. Keeping it simple and functional.
There is a real trend out here to do stuff like your buffalo, wire balls out here, barbed wire, garden art out of spanners and so on. Its a great way to get your hand in with a welder for sure.

Nearly half way there with the Carport roof thus far this weekend.
12 of the 30 sheets home and its nice to have a roof over or heads so to speak.
I have had a limited window of opportunity as it has either been too hot, 90 F or too windy to be putting roofing iron on and in consideration of the neighbours I can't start as early as I would have liked to.
The first sheets took a bit to get right but once I sorted the best way to tackle the job they are going up with relative ease.
I have put up all the mesh and only enough foil insulation as I go other wise the wind plays havoc with it.
So far so good.

Great work! Looks like you've made really good progress. We've been fertilising our paddocks over the last couple of days, pretty unpleasant in high 30s weather with the smell and flys associated with chook manure! It was meant to rain this afternoon, but it's still hot and sunny at this point. Hope the forecast rain for tomorrow comes through.
