1/2: nice looking son and your new daughter in law. i'm sure your sister will appreciate knowing she is on a Ferrari when you posted her on the biggest and coolest thread on Garage Gallery. BTW besides the little red car that little car the bride and groom are standing next to isn't too bad either.

glad the day went ok and now that the shed is heading into it's next phase and the kids are heading out of the nest how about sitting back in a chair in your shop and enjoying a few cold ones and just relaxing while you dream of the next phase of the SHED.

cheers Mate.

Thank you drives ,

There was a Ferrari, Lamborghini and Audi parked on display outside the reception, my sister ( never let a chance go by ) after a few red wines was keen to have a photo shoot with the Ferrari so I obliged, she made me promise I wouldn't post them on FB and is not aware I am doing it on the GJ so here some of the shots would almost qualify for Lets see your pin ups, Well I did say almost.;)

The car they are standing next to is a 1937 MG SA named Elenore owned by my now daughter in laws Uncle.
My son drove to the ceremony in his 1950s MG Magnet.

Looks like a great weekend. Glad it went off so well.

An absolutely fantastic weekend HOTFR8:thumbup:

Wish them all the best from all of us at GJ!

Many thanks Rivenn, I will certainly do that.

This is my first post on here, and I've read every one of you posts.
I'd love to have the time, patience and skill to fabricate "things" like you do, but I don't. So I have to just look in awe at yours. Well done.

BTW, you're only 15 minutes away from me at that winery. I used to help launch hot air balloon flights from there years ago. Hope the day went well.

Matt.

Hi and welcome aboard Matt, many thanks for dropping by. Getting through 80 odd pages is an awesome effort and I hope you have enjoyed the read.

The day went great and thanks.

That was fast oncoming wedding or was this planned for awhile?
Looked like a great wedding.
I think anyone of us would have done the same as your sister to anyone of those cars you mentioned.

akdiesel,

The wedding was 12 months in the planning for everyone, it was a comparatively small one with just immediate family members, some 24 people in all. Many of my daughter inlaws relatives I had never met before. There was one couple from South Africa and another couple from New Zealand.

We all had a ball and it was truly a memorable occasion with out doubt.

My sister was in fine form on the night and it did not take much encouragement to do the shots.

Regards

I would like to take this opportunity to wish every one a happy Easter

We have a four day break in Australia and our Daylight savings ends here tonight. The weather here has been perfect with cool nights and daytime temperatures into the 70s. with very little rain over the last month.

I am not one for joining the masses on the roads here over the break, just taking time to catch up with the fine detail in the garden that has gone wanting during the Carport build over the last few months, we spent a solid day yesterday and are pretty pleased that it is in order now.

The newly weds are having a ball in Tasmania, touring the island in and MG B.

To get there its an over night trip on a ferry from Melbourne and is a fantastic holiday destination out here.

Next weekend I am off to Sydney, an eight hour drive from here for our number one grandsons third birthday. Quite looking forward to putting the party hat on for the occasion.

I intend to start the civil works beside the Carport this weekend as well, boxed gutters, grouting the columns in place and the footings for the brick nib wall at the front.

Anyway guys have a good one.

We have seen the cartoon here.:D

My sister still doesn't know about her picture being posted here, she hasn't even posted them on FB yet.:lol_hitti

It has been a great few days here, not much that's photo worthy to post anyway.

Thus far over the last few days:

. We spent a whole day detailing the yard from front to back, roses trimmed, Chinese ficus wall creeper detailed to the nth degree by Mrs 1/2 Cup, lawns edged and mown.

. A trailer load of scrap steel to the recyclers.
. Cleaned up all the off cuts of timber around the place that weren't of any use and gave it all to my neighbour for fire wood.
. Grouted the Carport columns with a non shrink Hilti grout compound, I can really recommend this product is sets hard, I mean hard.
. Picked up some pavers for the storage area.
. Picked up a load off blue metal rock screenings for the storage area.
. Poured the footings at the front of the carport for the brick screen wall. A 1/2 yard of concrete by hand..:(
. Started on the storm water pipes in preparation for the in ground boxed gutter system.

There is a swap meet near here today, however I think I will give it a miss this year and keep plodding along here, just too much to do.

Regards

Its been a busy time around here ( so whats different you might ask )?? And a while since I have updated.

Mrs 1/2 Cup decided her Mum needed a new car, on here own undertaking and with the help of her brothers and sisters purchased a one owner Mazda 2 with low miles. from as it turned out, a work colleagues Mum.

We spent last night detailing the car after we picked it up from the previous owner.

My M.I.L. didn't have a clue what was happening and there was tears all round when she was presented with the new car in Melbourne today.

drives, Yes Evie has her Australian Champions title.

I do attend the odd show with Mrs 1/2 Cup. There has been a lot of hard work and dedication that has gone in to reach the milestone which has been basically over two years and every other weekend attending shows all over to attain the points required.

No shed time last weekend, I did the 9 hour drive to Gosford which is north of Sydney to celebrate our No.1 grandsons third birthday and spend some precious time together.

We had a fantastic few days together, with a party on Sunday to celebrate the occasion.

The view from my apartment at Ettalong Beach. which is on the New South Wales Central Coast.

In anticipation of driving through Sydney I had purchased an old 1 ton chain block as an adornment for the Carport on Ebay two weeks ago. The seller was agreeable to holding it as it was a local pick up.

One thing I did not bargain on was the Sydney traffic that turned my 9 hour trip into an 11 hour marathon with the deviation out to Sydney's west to Richmond to do the pick up.

Richmond is on the picturesque Hawkesbury River and one lovely part of the country.

Aha! Another piece of rusty gold to restore back to former glory. Sorry about the extra travel time but I'm sure this item when re-finished will be worth it on display.

If you go anywhere around Sydney on a weekend, especially going from Richmond then back up the C/Coast you can always add 2 hours on. Our traffic is dreadful at present, and has been noted in the papers as being worse on weekends.....

Glad you had fun with the family though.

rmmalkow,

I am not sure whether I will leave the chain block as it is or give it the full treatment, the trouble being some of it is riveted making it difficult to strip down as you would. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but some of the rivets are major structural components of the unit and I really do not want destroy the patina it has.
My first thought is to just clean and lubricate and that's all??

It has certainly been worth the trip that's for sure.

Lyndon,

I found the Motorways great but the trip out to Richmond was just so slow until I reached Agnes Banks, that said it gave me time to take in the view of a beautiful area that I had never been before.
The return trip was via Windsor which was not to bad and I took time out to have a look at the RAAF base as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the family, such is the tyranny of distance.

Thanks for dropping by guys, have a great day..

My house is not to far from Richmond RAAF base. Great with the planes and choppers flying around doing there training.

Aaron,

That's the first time I have seen RAAF Richmond and they have some awesome gear there. I only wish I could have spent more time tyre kicking so to speak.

Think your self lucky to live in and around there, nice part of the world.

That's cool ½cup, I love checking out that sort of stuff - were you allowed close to it, or view from a distance?

Many years ago I used to drive a truck delivering building materials, and had a couple of small loads for the RAAF Amberley base.
I would have to wait about 30 minutes at the gate until someone would hand me a specially printed map that had a very specific route marked (with all other references hidden) - needless to say, I did not attempt to deviate.
They appeared to have an F1-11 (I did say it was many years ago) anchored to a large piece of concrete and steel that they were trying to pull out of the ground - that was pretty awesome.

1/2: i like your chain hoist and whether you use it as a hoist or just some Shed art doesn't matter because it does look cool.

speaking of cool items i forgot to comment on your awesome old wagon that was your Grandparent's or Great grandparent's. that is in great shape and very nice gesture offering it to the local museum, but happy to hear it's still in your hands. I know it's a bit of a struggle to keep it in that condition and find room for it so good luck with that.

nice looking kids.

I just viewed from a distance, there was about eight C130 Hercules on the tarmac and a few light aircraft.

I could have watched all day absolutely fascinating.

Here is a link to RAAF Richmond site.

Nice score on the block and tackle, your view from the appartment would of been nice to wake up to as well.

Thanks Lee, the block and tackle cost a princely sum of $45, local pick up of course.

Thanks drives

The chain block is purely shed art or in this case carport art.

The wagon is in fantastic shape and I have resisted even cleaning it up to maintain its "barn find"condition.

We are pretty proud of our offspring, they are doing great.

I just wanted to stop by and say hello! Looks like all is well with you guys!

Thank you Sean, things are ticking over nicely.

The dowel kit is not the most high tech but does the job nicely, borrow away

Hi 1/2 Cup,

Great thread. I have spent a good part of the day going through the pages. I envy your skill at welding, as I am a chippie, but have not welded.
As I recall, you have a triton workstation. I have a biscuit joiner attachment for mine, and in conjunction with my router, it works very well. Much less time with measuring. If you are going to do much, might be worth the investment.

Cheers,

Ken

Many thanks and I can assure you your comments are appreciated Ken.

Basically I am just a self taught welder and by no means a master at it. I have been fortunate over the years to work with some old school tradesmen and had the opportunity to be able to work in different trades outside Electrical work.

A biscuit jointer is certainly on my must have tool list down the track for sure.

Once the Carport / Storage Solution is completed, my garden shed will become my dedicated woodwork shop much like Herb Spencers and sean buicks setups.

Once again, many thanks and have a great day.

Been watching biscuit jointers on EBay a while now.

Weekend hire is around £25.00

So if I could own one for that price........

Need it to make up the truck bed boards.
