That was what got me.

Althought you are always gathering for some project.
HOTFR8, you are right. No matter what I am currently working on I am always on the lookout for stuff, you just never know when it may come in handy.
Yep, we used to have to "look It up in your Funk and Wagnalls".
Mark, now that’s a blast from the past we did have a set of Funk and Wagnalls in the book shelf at home when I was growing up.
I miss encyclopedias, I also miss phone books.
Seems like just yesterday you were going on vacation, now I want to know where my three weeks went?????
Strouty, I agree, even today I still favour hard copy and we still have a phone book.
I can’t believe where the time has gone either.
1/2 please don't tone it down, we Yanks have learn somewhere.
Shorty, no worries and I will maintain the status quo.
1/2: I actually knew what you meant by GLEAN and happy to help if I can. not sure your Gumtree is full of commercial racking like our Craigslist is, but that's what I use in my spaces to get stuff up out of the way and off the floor. in my 20 x 20 storage unit I have 3 uprights along the back with shelving 7, 6, & 5.5 feet wide that take up that space.
of course with your skills and a little metal you can probably build something to customize your space since it's your own and you are not leasing it like I am.
in the front portions I put 3 9 foot wide racks that are about 4 foot deep sideways so I can pull a trailer or car under them. or when I don't have vehicles in there I just put up a few more racks. the nice thing about my storage is that my ceilings are 14 foot tall so my 12 foot racks can hold a ton of stuff above the 7 foot first shelf.
the nice thing about these commercial shelving racks is they don't need shelving at the bottom so I (we) can put cabinets, rolling tool boxes and machines and such under the first shelf that can be moved and accessed easily.
GOOD LUCK
Drives, we are pretty fortunate here in Shepparton as there is a couple of places that sell new second hand commercial racking at ½ reasonable prices and quite often some do pop up on our local Gumtree. My eldest used to work at a place that sold racking and I can always swing a deal with them when the time comes.
Many years ago a mate of mines brother worked with one of our big banks in the Facilities Section and in conversation one day my mate said to me would you like some shelving for your shed, never letting an opportunity go by I jumped at the prospect. Apparently when they refurbished a Bank Branch everything got thrown to land fill including the shelving which by the way had never seen anything other than paper records stored on them. The months went by and I thought nothing more of it until one week end my mate pulled up at home with a trailer load of shelving and said “ it all yours “ . Wow that made my day.

Thank you one and all for dropping by, I had best get back to work.
Eight hours to go and the weekend is here.
