That is a stunning collection of MGs! Love the duck-egg-blue TC, and the B's beautiful too. Congrats on their wedding!

My B's in a bit more of a sorry state, but I can't complain. I only paid £0.99 for it!

I've got big plans for it though, which luckily don't involve much original bodywork :S

Love that prewar 1/2 Cup, very pretty. There was one very similar in style to that at the Natmeet last year, black paint and red interior. Magic. I'd own it in a heartbeat if I could.

BiTurbo thank you.

The B needs a little TLC by the looks of it but at that price who could complain.

What are your plans for it??

It definitely does! The roof's alright though :S

I've got a Rover V8 lying around that came with another project, a 5-speed LT77 gearbox and transfer case from an LR Discovery, the IRS from my old Jag XJ40 and a Subaru R160 diff that's pretty slim and has very, very nearly the same diff ratio as the Jag unit.

Add in some flares and big knobbly tyres to lift it slightly and I'll have an AWD Baja B!

Eventually that is...

1/2 cup that sounds like a fun but tiring event. Is this a tradition with a lot of companies there or just the one you work with?

WOW, sounds like a great day . I'm pretty good on a Go-Kart track, and since I've lost 33 kg, would probably be even better (wish I was 16 again). Just haven't had the time or opportunity to try. :dunno:

Give it your all!!!!

Dan, just our group really in the scheme of things, some do it some don't. We do have a traditional Christmas in July to beat the rush.

The company would take a dim view if we did otherwise.:shocking:

Looking forward to Christmas in July.....

1/2: it's probably attitudes and days planned like that to just have fun mixed in with a little biz that keeps you and your staff coming to work and loving your jobs. remember you are not as young as you think so be careful. more guys get hurt having fun than working is all i'm saying.

Cheers

I am hearing you when you say I am not as young as I used to be. Never fear I will be careful not to over do things..

I just wanted to thank you for continuing to drop in on my thread. It means a lot to a young guy like me to have the encouragement of someone of your caliber. Your work is amazing and second to none. I went to a race last night and there was a driver from Australia there in little, old New Weston, Ohio. I'm pretty sure he was only born there if I had to guess. His name was Pete Britten in the 18H car.

He finished 2nd after starting in the rear of the 25 car field in a 25 lap exhibition race. The leader had a 1/2 lap lead by the time he got to second place and he cut it to less than 1/4 lap by the end of the race. I think another 5-10 laps and he would have been in victory lane. Sounds like he is a pretty good driver in the Bib Block Modified series.

Hope your Christmas in July is a great day.

Thank you HOTFR8,

I just popped home from our bonding session to change for dinner.

We have had a top afternoon so far, no injuries me included.

The go karts were a buzz all 35 of us had a lash, divided into 5 groups.

View media item 62064
Next was the rock wall, now that was a challenge but we got there after a couple of goes. The unreal part was letting go, falling backwards with the inertia reel:shocking:

View media item 62065
Laser tag was a treat as well, sadly I was too busy shooting people to take pics.;)

Time to shower, shave, shampoo and change for dinner.:beer:

Note to file: 1/2 Cup don't wake up tomorrow with little men knocking away in my head.:shocking:

a_thiel24 Believe me the pleasure is all mine, this is what the GJ is all about.:thumbup:

I don't often post war and peace but it is great to give our members a few words of encouragement and support that they justly deserve. The issue I have is keeping up with it all.

Thank you for your kind comments as well:thumbup::thumbup:

I would dearly love to get state side some times and watch the racing over your way, it on our bucket list for sure. Mrs 1/2 Cup is a big fan too.

By the looks of it you certainly enjoyed your self...

Thank you again and have a great day.

Looks like fun.

A wise idea would be not to wake up feeling like some one is running the mower across a gravel driveway inside your head throwing stones in all directions.

YOU ****!!!!! Okay, maybe I'm just a little jealous. The carts and rock wall look like a ton of fun.

All, we had a blast.

The dinner was fantastic, good company, an excellent meal, great atmosphere and of course the odd Crown Lager went down easily.

The evening was also a bit of a reflection on the year that was and a forward look for the team, many may recall our Managers ( Ian ) passing earlier this year and the profound impact that it had on the team.

HOTFR8, I did sleep in just a bit this morning ( late night;) ) and I must say that I am nearly running on all 8 cylinders now.

drives, I have a confession to make, the rock wall was conquered  but I did take the beginners way to the top.;)
One of our team members did the climb three times now that was a top effort.

xtremex, heaps of fun for sure and I must say it was a real challenge too..

Thank you guys for dropping in and have a great day.........

What would happen if you slept past 9  Loss of QST maybe? Sounds like the day out and the dinner was like a battery charge for you and much needed.

HOTFR8, I really don't think I could sleep past 9 am and I cannot ver remember doing so:dunno:

It was a great day and evening, just what the doctor ordered.

Just a tad slow this morning but..;) No little men tapping in my head with sledge hammers.

Andrew dropped off the new engine stand last night so I have been assembling that this morning and repurposing a 15 lt paint can adding some cheap castors that will make a nice rubbish bin for the Shed Downunder.

Mrs 1/2 Cup is in the West Wing slaving away on the paint roller.

I will be in there later and pulling up the carpets.

Have a good one.

That looks like a great work bonding session. Nice.

hewey it was most certainly a great day with everyone getting into the spirit of the day. Its amazing how something like what we did really brought out the competitiveness in our staff which was great to see.

I'm jealous! It's been ages since I stepped in a kart. Great fun :)

Hear hear :)

BiTurbo, Me too, we had go karts in our teens, certainly not refined like what we drove on Friday, great fun and if you get the chance I can highly recommend doing so.

Weekend Update:

I have to admit I was a tad slow on Saturday after a big night out with the team.

The West Wing:

Mrs 1/2 Cup continued on painting duties for most of the weekend, she has gone through 6 gallons of paint so far and doing a great job I might add.

Three bedrooms - completed.
Lounge - completed.
Hallway - completed.
Rear Sun room - completed.

With the Kitchen, toilet, laundry and bathroom all cut in and ready to go.

I removed the toilet suite today ready to install a new unit as well as two floor tiles that needed replacement, luckily the PO had left a few spares in the shed.

And some minor spot repairs and door removal for Mrs 1/2 Cup so she can continue on during the week.

The K series engine build:

The new cylinder liners have not turned up from the UK yet so there was not a heap to be done.

Andrew brought an engine stand which we assembled and mounted the block on it today. This will make life a whole heap easier than working on the bench when it come to the final assembly.

So all in all a pretty lay back week end.

Thank you one and all, have a good one...

BF, karting is one of those things that every one has to do once in their lifetime, we had a ball.

Mrs 1/2 Cup is really getting stuck into the painting and I must say the results speak for them selves. The West Wing has taken on a life of its own form becoming just another house to a warm, light and inviting home just with a coat of paint and some simple improvements.

I think she has missed her calling and should have been a professional painter, the more she does the more fussy she is getting.

You should make her an offer..

Thank you again for dropping by and have a good one..

Good weekends progress 1/2 cup!

The karting is always fun. There's several different karting places around Newcastle/the Hunter, indoor and outdoor, and we probably go karting about twice a year with family and some friends. Always good fun! My brothers and I normally take up the top 4 places, but the order always varys (as much due to variations between karts as anything). Dad always used to win when we were growing up, but we overtook him a while back...
