It sure does you credit 1/2. I like to see when someone's heart and soul are into it. Well done.

The engine looks great and like a real hottie. Imagine that little gem turned in the north/south direction and hiding under the hood of a lowered Model A roadster hot rod!!
Hmmmm….. maybe you need to build another and start a new project.![]()
Steve
That engine sure is the ducks nuts, isn't it.
Looking forward to seeing it in a car, on a track.

Engine looks great 1/2 Cup!
That's a popular option for Midgets and Sprites, there's at least 2 different companies who offer conversion parts for that swap. Lighter than the factory A Series, and easily double the power of a well modified A Series engine? Makes a lot of sense!
Steve, no need for me to say it but I will. Top job (as usual) on the engine. I'm not sure but I think I missed a birthday party, so happy belated birthday.
It's been pretty hectic around here and I haven't had much time to devote to the GJ. Hopefully soon I'll be able to be more proactive again.
I hope this week finds you well and brings joy to you and all those around you.

1/2: i had a SORT OF busy weekend, but looks like you had almost as much joy in your days. WELL DONE SIR!!
i know i mentioned this when you first posted a greasy picture of that engine block that i didn't have a clue about this stuff (and i still don't know much), but i've really enjoyed the journey watching you and Andrew maybe even grow closer together with this engine rebuild if that is even possible.
i can hardly wait to hear you and maybe see the faces of you and Andrew starting that up in his car.
i put a new little picture in my sig line so you might want to check out the fuzzy pics i posted. i blamed the camera, but it might have maybe been a little water coming from my eyes.
congrats on the engine progress and maybe if you still have the greasy first picture of Andrew's engine when he dropped it off for a before and after i bet it might even make you smile a bit more. WELL DONE!!]
that storage project should be fun. also in case you haven't seen it Don Long made his paint booth out of something about that size. just saying if you haven't seen is there might be an alternate plan to just storage for that cool container.

A couple of hours later and its all one, now for the detail..

One productive week end...
Note to file and warning: No fasteners were clocked in its assembly..
dw _ riley thank you.
I am amazed at just how much like a Mini the Rover K series are, many of the bits are stampeded MOWOG and I am sure would fit a Mini.. go figure..
Regards

Always nice to look back and reflect!
That is one of the things I like best about GJ: you're ability to look back and see where you were at a specific period in time. When you think you're not getting much done it helps to see where you've been.
You'll be lost without the Rover to greet you every night![]()

Wow Steve! That's gorgeous!
For this application, "correct torque" beats "clocked" any day.
MOWOG??? (Mo)rris (Wo)lseley M(G)?
MG got "G" because Morris already took "M"?
I'd forgotten what MOWOG meant... thanks Google.
I learnt to drive in a Mini Clubman (which was interesting, as I'm 6'3", but so much fun!). It was officially painted in "Camino Gold", which we affectionately called "Australian Racing Brown"

Thanks Dan, that saved me a lot of typing - it's pretty much exactly what I wanted to say.
The MG engine looks great 1/2cup.

"May be I should just retire and have seven Saturdays in a row."
I can highly recommend retirement - if - you have lots of things you want to do. There are those who wish they had not retired, and I feel for them.
Saturday tomorrow!!![]()
I agree with the others... almost a shame to cover that up!![]()
Imagine all that QST. But then I can also imagine the Boss not being happy if he lost his trained up drone pilot.

Steve seeing that engine in pieces laying up on that stainless bench begs for some barbeque sauce. It is that close to looking like a banquet fit for a master mechanic!![]()

I had said for several years if I could always have a four day weekend I would keep working. After all these years they really didn't need me all week doing mundane tasks at times. My last "job" I worked occasionally for a guy I trained. He would email me a document and I would scan through it while watching TV with my wife. I would list my questions and concerns which took very little effort on my part but provided the company with my full input as though I were a full time employee. I did none of the followup or issue resolution, there were plenty of employees who could do that. Then they would pass the final document back to me and I would make another set of comments. Then it was up to them, consider my comments or ignore them. It hardly mattered to me, they had my input and if they chose a different path that's OK. Unfortunately I received several "wish we'd listened to you" comments.
My guy changed jobs and the new guy thought my hourly rate was exorbitant. Which it was, but for two or three hours per week it was a bargain. I declined to help out at my guy's new company as I got real busy cleaning up my shop...
If you can work three days per week you can let the young guys do the part you don't relish.
Another comment on retirement. I've found that thrifty people never seem to find the right time to spend their retirement savings. It becomes a family legacy. So if you don't need it, why do you work longer to grow it?
Not that you asked![]()

Holding my breath for an update.
Turning blue...

She is on good organiser I must say. When Mrs 1/2 Cup gets a bee in her bonnet and a tape measure in hand its time to be scared, real scared![]()

1/2: while you say you don't have a lot to pass on as your LEGACY i respectfully disagree. first of all you have passed on lifetime skills to both your boys and i'm sure a lot of their friends and yours that will be talked about years after you are gone not to mention all the fun times with your grandsons coming up.
a couple homes, some cool old cars and an old 100+ year old wagon, and a ton of cool old and new tools along with some awesome benches i'd love to own and i already own more than a few.
you sir have SKILLS and even better than that you have a great personality that keeps the likes of me and a lot of others smiling almost daily.
I know we are OLD, but we still have a thing or to get done and hopefully many years to do them.
cheers and hope your weekend was productive and or fun!!

That is FUNNY!![]()

Hey, I know how you feel, DW has a small 3m tape in her handbag at all times.

I don't know how that will go down..

I have never dealt with a wife with a tape measure. My hat is off to you sir!!
The "legacy" thing is what financial advisors came up with when they started encountering folks who already have enough and didn't really need the financial advisor. Fortunately I'm not in that boat, either one, no financial legacy to leave and no financial advisor I need![]()

I had trouble seeking some respite after work in the Shed DownunderAndy, it is about the application of a tape measure..![]()

Obviously no intention to cast personal aspersions here, but when I think of "wife with a tape measure" I'm thinking the potential like "drunk with a gun". You're just not sure which way they are going and how much it may hurt.
Or maybe they are just going to put it away![]()
