No I haven't, but I have now. Thanks!

Sounds like Buckley could be my long lost great-grandfather.

Shorty, if Buckley was your long lost great - grandfather then I have every confidence you have inherited some of his genes..

Ok, 672km one way is a long drive. How about a race to Adelong Crossing Cafe (184 Hume Hwy), the half way point. Loser buys lunch and pays for all speeding tickets.
Need a car cam so we can see video of the action!!!

Shorty, sounds like plan.;) however I have one concern the police impound cars on the spot out here for doing the speeds that I would expect to being reached..:lol_hitti

Car cam is all organized..

Thanks again and have a good one..

Like your choice, but a better place might be not far from there - The Dog on the Tucker box, outside Gundagai..... :3gears: :3gears:

From there are some nice back water roads that wouldn't be "policed" so heavily..... :lol_hitti :dunno: Especially one fittingly called Gocup Road that runs down to Tumut. Who knew? I just found that, and it looks like it deserves exploring in a fun car..... That's going onto the list. ;)

But I don't know if Andrew's car is road registered.... :dunno:

Just a thought.

All, its been a busy Saturday around here.

While I was out and about this morning I could not resist calling in to Total Tools.

http://www.totaltools.com.au/

Picked up a few MIG consumables, a couple of 1/2 " drive Allen sockets, a couple of Sidchrome flare spanners and just generally meandered around the shop not realising the time and catching up with a mate ( as you do ) until I received a phone call from Mrs 1/2 Cup asking was I lost???:willy_nil

Andrew's AP Racing calipers have been a real challenge to get apart, I think every socket head screw must have been assembled with Loctite's "Now try and get me apart" product range.

An 18" long x 1/2" drive breaker bar and those set screws fought me all the way.

But yet again good triumphed over evil and we got there in the end.

Now all we are waiting for is the rebuild bits to arrive from the UK..

After lunch it was around to Dads to catchup then take him around many of the car yards here to look for a replacement vehicle for him.:dunno:

His car was finally assessed by the insurers who have written the car off and he gets the agreed value payout.

We still have to maybe make the hard decision about him handing in his licence and get him a mobility scooter first up. :dunno:

A few honey do s out of the way as well so all in all a productive one..

Thank you one and all, have a good one..

I think our partners and wifes set a timer as soon as we walk out saying "be back in an hour or so". Then as soon as you are in the hardware or tool shop, feeling the serenity and thinking about getting a sausage on the way out, they call or txt. :D

GB, Mrs 1/2 Cup is notorious for it.:willy_nil

Note to file: lesson learned 1/2 Cup..

Gocup Road:rocker::rocker:

Gocup GO!!:rocker::rocker::rocker:

On the calipers they used "Unscrew Me Now Ya *******!" Good stuff!

Maybe car shopping and not finding would be good for while for your dad...

Thanks for the link. I shopped around Total Tools for a bit, then instinctively looked for the nearest store:sad:

And to think cell phones were billed as a luxury? I don't own one anymore. Bummer!

Lyndon, Gocup road, I like that one..:3gears:

Sadly Andrews car is not registered so there adds another few demerit points...

Andy, Gocup now that is GOLD.

Your "Unscrew Me Now Ya *******!" sounds like it comes from the same product range as Loctite's "Now try and get me apart"

The family are taking a strategic approach when it come to " replacing his car" and yesterdays tyre kick around the used car yards was helpful in that respect as Dad is just a little bit out of touch in regards to the cost of buying a used car.

He had been replying to advertisements in the local paper and when I was around there yesterday he showed me one he was keen on. mmmmmmmmmm

After reading the add I said you better call the seller back and cancel the inspection, Dad goes why??? I replied that it has a 5 speed manual and your licence conditions are for an automatic car only...:eyecrazy:

Did you have a look at what we pay out this neck of the woods for tools?:scared:
I think you should keep shopping locally..;)

And to think cell phones were billed as a luxury? I don't own one anymore. Bummer!

Bobby, I am supplied with a mobile from my work and Mrs 1/2 Cup has one. We still have a landline as well.

Handy at times but can be a real pain at times. Even at work if I need some quality me time I will not always answer it and let it go to message bank. I rarely retrieve messages preferring to call the number back at my convenience.;)

Thank you one and all, have a top day..

I suppose the market does dictate a lot and what miles, condition etc. would vary the price. Did you go to the Auction or hear that locally ?

HOTFR8, I did drive past and there was not a park for miles in sight, they live streamed the auction so I could come home and watch it on the TV that has internet connectivity..

Cheers..

1/2: sorry i haven't had my daily posts on your thread lately, but you seem to be even busier than you were in the past if that is even possible.

did you say you are hiring out the carport build for the WEST WING?

nice work on Andrew's brakes and he's giving you a little RIBBING (poking fun) over on his engine thread waiting for them. sounds like you are way ahead of his new parts and doing what you can.

best of luck with your Dad. since my dad broke his hip over a year ago he has been really not wanting to get up and function like he has for so many years. i had to teach my mom how to get her own gas and last night she called with a stuffed toilet so i gave her a couple ideas on how to fix. she called me up an hour later and was ecstatic that she fixed it. saved me a trip over there in the morning today and for mom it was a big moral victory that she did it herself (told her to pour a few gallons of water in the bowl since it was draining some and not to overflow and it worked to un plug it).

looks like you'll be getting up and heading to the COAL MINES soon so hope you get the drones flying and maybe some more time to cut a few more gems on that fancy tool you have available.

cheers

I try to ignore Australian prices, I just chalk it up to exchange rates I must not understand:willy_nil

Otherwise I'd be sending you tools, and you already got my DeWalt drills somehow.:willy_nil:willy_nil

1/2: as Andy mentioned with our exchange rates we don't feel the pain you guys do with the prices of some things. i guess it all sort of evens out cause you seem to be eating and are able to buy a few bits and bobs when you need to.

ANDY: i think your missing drill has doubled or has it tripled now? with the costs of what 1/2 and the boys down under have to pay for their tools maybe we should put a container of old vintage and new tools together to ship to them as a permanent loan?

We still have to maybe make the hard decision about him handing in his licence and get him a mobility scooter first up.

We have some nice mobility scooters here that your dad might be happy with.

Shorty, I am sure he would be pleased with a scooter like that:3gears:

He would be the talk of the Senior Citizens club that's for sure..:lol_hitti

Hey SK, that scooter looks like a Binford 6100

Terrick, it certainly does..

Have a great day..

So I'm gone for a week and you run off about 5 pages of quality reading. I skimmed over it and will have to go back and reread. You, Bob Heine, and Lyndon are some of the best and most prolific writers. Keep up the good work.

Drives,
The moderators work is not too bad to manage actually. The issue I have is work to be honest as we are getting close to the end of the financial year so it’s pretty full on at the moment in terms of project closures, financials, procurement plans, tender evaluations and secondly my internet access at work to the GJ has had the breaks put on it somewhat it’s so slow and takes ages to get anywhere, which is a bit frustrating.
:willy_nil
Other than that all is good and thanks for asking.

Drone Update;

Negotiations with the supplier of our original drone, the Albris Sensefly, have been finalised and the new drone should be here in a few weeks. In the meantime we are doing Type Training on the DJI range of drones in two weeks for two days which I am very much looking forward to.:3gears:

http://www.dji.com/

Given that the new drone will be in a different weight category and for commercial operation this requires us to have a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operators Certification which entails quite a bit of work in fact, having to provide Operations & Maintenance Manuals, Policy Statements, Operational Procedural Documentation and it goes on and on. Then should we be successful in gaining approval, the Civil Aviation Authority then complete a full audit at work.

We are nearly ready to submit the application as I write this.

https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/landing-page/flying-drones-australia

The West Wing Carport:

Manufacturing is underway as we speak and that reminds me that I should follow up today when we can expect the installation to start..

The Storage Solution:

I have not started to put the rubber to the road as yet until I get a few other projects of the plate and then it will be full steam ahead.

Dogs Shows:

Mrs ½ Cup has her first one in a long time coming up next week end here in Shepparton which will be handy, may be too handy for this black duck..

The Model A:

Sadly no movement or progress at all.

Dad:

We have taken the first steps towards having him assessed medically and for his driver competency. He has been pushing back somewhat and just wants to get back into driving in a car which I can fully understand as it certainly has impacted on his independence. His insurance company insists that these steps are taken before he can insure another car.
My sister and Dad have been shopping today for mobility scooters and has just sent me a picture of him on his test drive to which I replied in capitals – SOLD..

The weather:

It has been getting cooler here over night and the room heaters are on let me tell you. Our overnight temperatures are getting close to freezing and in the day time it has been in and around the mid 60s F

Fun:

Actually I am still enjoying what I do all round..:3gears:

QTS:

Waiting on the MG F brake calliper bits to arrive from the UK, my benches are clear and the shed is tidy, just the way I like it..;)

This week end:

Garden duty first up Saturday, just the basics mind you.
Take Shelby for her walk.
Do the material take off for the Storage Solution.
Mrs ½ Cup is starting to plan our en suite makeover so it’s the vanity, shower, toilet, tapware, lighting and tiles. So my input is fairly prudent at this stage…:scared:

Vieux, really appreciated the gesture. There is a little more to show as he finds some wall space.

I trust all is going well and have a great day:3gears:

Your dad's insurer is your ally. They can be the bad guys.

I noticed you rolled over a million views this morning. And 20,000 today! A very popular thread!!

Andy, you are spot on and you can include Dad's GP as well so much so that ( cutting a long story short and things have moved rapidly here today) that Dad has finally relented and handed in his licence after much kicking and screaming when his GP said to him that he was nearly legally blind so that was the catalyst for buying him a new mobility scooter this morning and he is proud as punch with it..

So in the end it was a win, win all round..

I did notice that the views jumped just a wee bit over the last few days:headscrat

Something that I need to investigate.

Any way I am off to Dads to test drive the new scooter..

Have a good one..
