You know, its a pity they don't sell Bacon and Egg rolls where I am this week. So will just think of yours, thanks.

Terrick, looking at that picture now I could do with one right now...

Bacon/egg roll is definitely the best way to start the weekend, I'd be ok if bunnings replaced the sausage sizzle with B/E rolls, can't say the same for my arteries though :/

Further note: great alternative to a roll is smashed avo :p

matty, I agree that Bunnings should up the anti and have B&E rolls on their menu as well. Every thing in moderation..
A bakery where I work opens at 6 am with B&E on the menu daily so you can imagine just how tough it is for me not to stop there or when my work mates walk into work with one after I have resisted the temptation..

Will you guys stop talking about bacon and egg rolls. :eyecrazy: That picture in a previous post almost sent me over the edge. I'm trying to lose weight here, not gain it.

Oh will the madness ever end. :willy_nil

Finallygotit, Ok the B&E stories stop right now.;)

Like I said every thing in moderation as a B&E once a week does make for good balanced diet...;)

Bacon and Egg Rolls reminded me of Wrap and Raps.............

HOTFR8, what a classic..:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Shep - Shepp - Shepparton - Greater Shepparton..:lol_hitti

A number of the places shown are either close to here or I drive past them every day..:lol_hitti

Thanks for sharing..

All, aside from all the running around this weekend I have managed some QST finishing the brakes for Andrew's MG F

Thank you one and all, enjoy your day...

tsk tsk tsk... Steve, Me thinks you're slipping. The calipers look very nearly lined up but not with the micrometer precision we're used to seeing in your work.

The bags, wrenches and thread locker bottle and tube of sealant - they're helter skelter -all over the place! :wtf: It hurts my eyes! :eyecrazy: Can't believe this is your thread!

:lol_hitti :lol_hitti :lol_hitti
I'm just thinking about you setting all this up just for the picture, then putting it all away again.... puts a smile on my face!

And, I know I'm REALLY late (by a month) to the party, but I'll just say congrats on the MGF engine start. Loved the video. Would've been just about as good with just the audio listening to that bad boy purring and growling when you hit the throttle!

Cheers!

I do believe the next one I watched was about cultures and different foods you can buy in Shepparton.

HOTFR8, I had to chuckle at both of the videos, we are certainly are a very multi cultural city..

Slim, I am glad you picked up on my randomness

You don't know how spot on you are, every thing was packed away soon after and Andrew picked it all up ( except for my tools ) 1/2 an hour later.

The first start was music to my ears let me tell you.

We have about three weeks before the MG Fs first run in anger at Sandown Raceway for a sprint event in June

option=com_registrationpro&view=events&Itemid=331

Wheel alignment then we hit the Dyno soon.

Thank you for pointing out my workshop foibles and tardiness..;)

Have a top day..

All, just a bit of an update.

Thursday - fun, fun at work.

Type training on the DJI Phantom pro.

Perfect flying weather for familiarization flying we spent 6 hours hands on..:rocker:

UPG provided us with two drones to work with so that made for plenty of flight time.

https://upgsolutions.com/index.php/upg-flight-school/

We get to keep the new smaller unit as a back up to the new unit ( Matrice 210 RTK )that arrives in a few weeks, it is due for market release next week.

http://ferntech.co.nz/dji-matrice-210-rtk/

The DJI units per form exceptionally well and are easy to fly..

Friday - grounded due to it raining most of the day so we spent 1/2 day in the training facility at work going over the O&M manuals which was fairly intense.

A top end to a working week..

Glad to see that you are receiving your drone replacement. The links you provided were interesting to read and also watch the video about the drone. Who said that work and fun could not be at the same time.

MG sounds like it is close to ready and looking forward to the first run.

Dwight, that makes two of us and it is great to be back in the air..

DJI make some great products that are well suited to our applications. They run rings around our old Drone in terms of performance and imaging technology.

I do love my job...:rocker:

The way you drone on and on it looks like retirement has taken flight, mate.

Andy, apologies for "droning on "

My work could be described as challenging, never boring, is fun, can be demanding at times yet very satisfying at the same time. It also gives me heaps of flexibility, access to some great equipment and a great work life balance.

That said I have been put in the cross hairs and basically being head hunted to a 3 year secondment position with our sister Project delivery organisation called the Connections Project.

http://www.connectionsproject.com.au/

My Managers are in a real bun fight over the proposal as we speak and I should find out the outcome this week but ultimately I will be my choice to set that direction.

As for retirement any time soon to be honest I have not really given serious thought to it yet..:dunno:

I have also enjoyed the last few weeks since the MG F has been finished just to take some me time with no particular things on the To Do list ( can you believe it ). Spending a lot more time in the garden and those menial jobs that one tends to put on the back burner some times for years and I find that very satisfying as well..
( refer to Corperate policy below )

Thank you guys, enjoy your day...

Looks like an important project.

Very tough decision for our Prince of Shepparton.

Andy, the remainder project is worth nearly $1bn Au over the three years. My current role does see me spend a great part of my working week providing a QA and Design role in any case plus I still have a variety of other projects on the go at any one time. The issue will be is just how these will be managed moving forward. We are resource poor at the moment given our current work load.

Tough decision indeed.

All, just a short update:

An excited Mrs 1/2 Cup rang earlier to tell me that our rodent "Jackie" had just taken out two awards today at a show in Geelong some three hours south of here.

She won Best of Breed ( Silky Terrier ) and the Intermediate Puppy in Group. Well done.

I was an early start this morning up at four and she left by five.:willy_nil

It's good to feel that your work is noticed and appreciated when those opportunities are offered to you. Definitely a big decision, if you are anything like me you will grapple with your loyalty to your current employ. Can be a stressful situation.

But at the end of the day do what is best for you and Mrs 1/2 cup, remember to have fun too.

And I forgot to take a pic of the delicious B&E roll at yesterdays steam open day.

Earning their keep. Awesome.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The breeder was so chuffed at how Jackie performed he is considering taking her to the Adelaide Royal Show, which is from all accounts a fairly prestigious event.

GB, it does make me feel wanted so to speak:thumbup:

As Mrs 1/2 Cup said loyalty is a good thing but not when it gets in the way of what is right.:willy_nil

All this talk about Bacon and Eggs not to mention it is only a few hours to dinner and I am cooking for one tonight it looks like I will do my own version of a gourmet Bacon & Egg Sanga.

Thank you one and all, enjoy your day..

1/2: great news with the little Rodent (Jackie). i'm guessing the other one is close behind in the ratings? tell Mrs. 1/2 congrats from me (us) here on GJ for doing such a great job. or maybe it's her way to see a bit more of Australia.

i watched the fun videos on Sheparton and first one i could handle and the second one it felt like they were going to steel something to i had to turn it off. yep there is a diversity almost anywhere you live or visit in the world that is for certain.

also just an update for you and the guys watching your thread Andrew's thread on the MG that has 1/2 Cup's engine rebuild in it now just posted up quite a few more pictures of other cars and some of his before the engine rebuild which is nice. here's the link:

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=359184

i think whatever you decide about your job is going to be great cause i'm sure you won't go hungry either way. you do seem to have it pretty good at the job some days with the spots you oversee that look like vacation spots and now the new drones and your status as one of the only pilots to fly them.

take care and hope you enjoyed your cooking. or did you decide to run to the place where you can buy one of those great looking sandwiches?

Mrs 1/2 Cup is on a high after Jackie's win let me tell you, she does a fantastic job with the rodents:thumbup:

I have just read Andrews update and your kind comments, again thank you.

The secondment position will see some changes no doubt but I have not seen the exact position description as yet..

Warning the follow image may cause some distress.

In our world secondments like that often lead to no spot being available back at the original job when the project is over, and sometimes good folks being lost to the company because of the changing resource need. That's here. It is obvious things are handled a bit better there.

Tough decision to post your sandwich.

As I sit here catching up on your exploits of late and see that breakfast sandwich picture all of a sudden I'm hungry. As its breakfast time for me now I may have to try and make one of those. Mmmmmm.

Congrats on the awards for the rodents. :rocker:

And congrats on being wanted in multiple job positions. It's nice to have options and I'm sure you will ( with proper input from Mrs.) make the right decision.

I do like your corporate policy. I also like to mentally check off at least one task like that each week so it feels like progress is being made.

You know how to make a guy feel sad. DW is still in hospital and I am trying to get a lot of work done before she gets home so as to help her for the first couple of days with things. So I haven't had a E&B for a week now......hopefully next weekend.

Andy, our Enterprise Agreement covers off on Secondment positions well and there is no issue in terms of being squeezed out so to speak. In fact our Management encourages it as it provides for multi skilling within the work force.

We are fortunate to have a very proactive Exec Management team and Board who get actively involved at a coal face level and understand the challenges we face on a daily basis. They often turn up unannounced and will sit with you for the best part of the day to gain a greater understanding of what you do.

I could not resist posting a pic of the Sanga in the Shed, it was a no brainer..

rmalkow, I do encourage you to have an E&B for breakfast at least once a week. Normally I start the day with a bowl of fresh fruit or toast and honey so it makes a welcome change on the weekends to have a B&E..

Mrs ½ Cup was over the moon when she returned home last night and it is just reward for the effort she puts in.
Jackie’s award for Intermediate in Group 1 ( toy dogs ) was a particularly great achievement considering she won it over 70 odd other entrants within the group.

We will be having a meeting this afternoon with all stakeholders in regards to the Secondment position, firstly we have to develop a position description to define the role. The issue being many of the stakeholders have differing expectations of the role –step 1.

This weekend I managed to tick off many tasks that have being annoying the heck out of me around our home and shed, we still have a bit to do but it looks a treat even now.

Thanks guys, enjoy your day..

Great bacon and egg sandwich Steve.
I like my eggs a bit runny though.

Aaron, sadly I have to admit to a huge failure on my part in regards to the Bacon and Egg Sanga.:shocking:
I do like my eggs runny and the bacon just so but I have to blame it on the Garage Journal and my inattention to the fine art of cooking a B&E . I have to fess up to paying more attention to the actual post on the GJ than actually turning out a gourmet B&E.
I am pretty ashamed of my effort to be honest but it tasted good…

I was distressed when I saw the eggs!

Did you ever get to really use the drone or did I miss it?

Strouty, I have to admit I was distressed as well, lesson learned ½ Cup..:shocking:

Just to bring you up to speed on our drone journey:

This time last year our company purchased a Sensefly - Albris, primarily for point cloud mapping, structural inspections and thermography inspections of our comms towers.

We did complete however complete a number of mapping assignments and cylindrical inspections that included thermography imaging of a comms tower that provides our primary data links which were very successful. This also was useful in respect in testing the units resilience to electromagnetic interference.

Our issues with the Albris first came about with a prop failure that was subject to a product recall, fortunately we had a company rep with us at the time. The drone was sent back for repair under warranty.

Upon return of the drone it was put back in service, however we experienced intermittent, ongoing and potentially damaging problems with the unit. Things like battery cell malfunction, loss of data link between the drone and controller that caused the drone to land now, fortunately we were never over water at the time. Our confidence in the drone was diminishing as time went by.

The straw that broke the camel’s back came before a cast of many in a demonstration for our media dept. and fortunately there was a company rep acting as a spotter for us where the drone had another prop failure and fell from 40ft onto rock, say now more..

Other issues we had was that the flight times we expected from the unit were not as published even taking into consideration we were flying in optimum conditions.

Noting that the Australian distributor had subsequently lost two of their own Albris units in similar circumstances.:dunno:

Our Surveys Manager then went into negotiations with the distributors and to cut a long story short we are now using the DJI platform, a day prior to our training last week our instructor completed a few of our backlog of assignments as a good will gesture that also provided a demonstration of the DJIs capability.

The DJI Phantom 3 has, longer flight times, completes mapping operations in under half the time in autonomous mode, has a far greater range and more agile in interactive flight.

The DJI Matrice 210 RTK package is truly a hamburger with the lot, multiple camera options, dual redundant battery systems, dual GPS systems for far greater accuracy when it comes to our mapping.

All and all we have had a real win, win even though we have been through a little grief and angst to get there..

We will be doing a few more training flights tomorrow as we will do every week in order to keep our skills current, weather permitting.

so I'm just trying to catch up a little on this thread but please post the link of the Live Drone feed with the Bacon and Egg Roll so that we all can look up that!

Sub, thank you.

I don’ t think our management would appreciate any social media attention in regard to Drone live feeds and B&E sangas.. I have yet to down load any images of what we did last week in training as I did try and get a close up SELFIE with the drone, so that should be interesting.;)

It always a pleasure to drop by your thread, humble it is not. Sadly there is never enough time in the day for me to post in every post I read in a day.

Being a member of the GJ community over the last few years has been the catalyst for me to get motivated and lift my game big time that being a success, a fail or an area that I can improve upon ( ref Shed Ugly Areas ), the encouragement here is just fantastic.

Thanks guys for dropping by and I trust your day is going well..

That's me in the yellow vest I still have some work to do on my zoom in and out but it was fun trying...

Note the two gum trees in the back ground, I did a few low level figure 8s around them too, great practice I might add.

Herb, I actually had to google Hominy Grits, I have never seen anything like that out here. Once I read the recipes I thought to myself mmmmmmmmmmm, that sounds awesome.

I will do some investigation at the supermarket next time I am there

Whist I do drink coffee, IMHO there is nothing like freshly squeezed Orange Juice to compliment Bacon and Eggs..
