Great bacon and egg sandwich
Steve.
I like my eggs a bit runny though.
Aaron, sadly I have to admit to a huge failure on my part in regards to the Bacon and Egg Sanga.
I do like my eggs runny and the bacon just so but I have to blame it on the
Garage Journal and my inattention to the fine art of cooking a
B&E . I have to fess up to paying more attention to the actual post on the GJ than actually turning out a gourmet B&E.
I am pretty ashamed of my effort to be honest but it tasted good…
I was distressed when I saw the eggs!
Did you ever get to really use the drone or did I miss it?
Strouty, I have to admit I was distressed as well, lesson learned
½ Cup..
Just to bring you up to speed on our drone journey:
This time last year our company purchased a
Sensefly - Albris, primarily for point cloud mapping, structural inspections and thermography inspections of our comms towers.
We did complete however complete a number of mapping assignments and cylindrical inspections that included thermography imaging of a comms tower that provides our primary data links which were very successful. This also was useful in respect in testing the units resilience to electromagnetic interference.
Our issues with the
Albris first came about with a prop failure that was subject to a product recall, fortunately we had a company rep with us at the time. The drone was sent back for repair under warranty.
Upon return of the drone it was put back in service, however we experienced intermittent, ongoing and potentially damaging problems with the unit. Things like battery cell malfunction, loss of data link between the drone and controller that caused the drone to land now, fortunately we were never over water at the time. Our confidence in the drone was diminishing as time went by.
The straw that broke the camel’s back came before a cast of many in a demonstration for our media dept. and fortunately there was a company rep acting as a spotter for us where the drone had another prop failure and fell from 40ft onto rock, say now more..
Other issues we had was that the flight times we expected from the unit were not as published even taking into consideration we were flying in optimum conditions.
Noting that the Australian distributor had subsequently lost two of their own Albris units in similar circumstances.
Our
Surveys Manager then went into negotiations with the distributors and to cut a long story short we are now using the
DJI platform, a day prior to our training last week our instructor completed a few of our backlog of assignments as a good will gesture that also provided a demonstration of the
DJIs capability.
The
DJI Phantom 3 has, longer flight times, completes mapping operations in under half the time in autonomous mode, has a far greater range and more agile in interactive flight.
The
DJI Matrice 210 RTK package is truly a hamburger with the lot, multiple camera options, dual redundant battery systems, dual GPS systems for far greater accuracy when it comes to our mapping.
All and all we have had a real win, win even though we have been through a little grief and angst to get there..
We will be doing a few more training flights tomorrow as we will do every week in order to keep our skills current, weather permitting.
so I'm just trying to catch up a little on this thread but please post the link of the Live Drone feed with the Bacon and Egg Roll so that we all can look up that!
that is all!
and thanks for stopping by my humble little thread to post positive comments!!
Sub, thank you.
I don’ t think our
management would appreciate any social media attention in regard to Drone live feeds and
B&E sangas.. I have yet to down load any images of what we did last week in training as I did try and get a close up
SELFIE with the drone, so that should be interesting.
It always a pleasure to drop by your thread, humble it is not. Sadly there is never enough time in the day for me to post in every post I read in a day.
Being a member of the
GJ community over the last few years has been the catalyst for me to get motivated and lift my game big time that being a success, a fail or an area that I can improve upon ( ref Shed Ugly Areas ), the encouragement here is just fantastic.
Thanks guys for dropping by and I trust your day is going well..
