Just pottering around today in the shed in between rest breaks, my benches look nice and clean, no clutter and tools back where they should be..

Great news for Christmas!!

Oftimes at work when someone asked how I was, I'd respond "I'd rather be here than ICU", and when they agreed, I'd add "Of course there's no better place than ICU when you need to be there". What a great invention!!

HIJACK! Surely you remember Picabo Street, the Olympic downhill gold medalist in 98 I think. Lots of people don't know, however, that she was a nursing student. Had trouble working in intensive care however, answering the phone, Picabo, ICU.

If you can really run the wife's A/C with 8kva they are not too dear, especially the new inverter ones. Just buy it and face the music...

The ICU experience was just part of the fault diagnostics with me really and I got pretty much one on one care which was fantastic. I totally agree that if you need ICU there is no better place to be..

No hijack at all.

An 8 kva unit will be ideal and have plenty of punch for what we need as I can load shed easily, bear in mind that is at 240 volts AC, single phase. 415 volt 3 phase is still an option as well.

1/2: isn't there a welder that also doubles as a 10k generator? just saying if you end up building the STORAGE SOLUTION or maybe a new metal framed building or gazebo next to the West Wing's garage you might need a bigger welder?

great to see you are back in the SHED if only for a few minutes. We had a light snow yesterday morning, but with the sun out it's gone and even if we don't have a WHITE CHRISTMAS it will be a chilly one.

My taste buds are still dragging the chain a bit though and I still have to balance rest and the physical stuff just right otherwise I do a little puffed but other than that all's well.

We have been in the 30s out here for a little while now and have double our rain fall totals for December which has just made the lawns go gangbusters so you are welcome to some. It has still been quite pleasant over night but those 40 + days are not that far away..

Drives, you are spot on there are welder/ genset combos available ( we have a few new Lincoln's at work ) however I am pretty right for a selection of welders - MIG - TIG - MMA and gas . Point taken there is space savings and taxation advantages to be had..

Snow, unreal - too cold for this Black Duck. That said I would like to experience a white Christmas just once in my life time..
It has been in the mid 80s out here and cool nights.

I am starting to get back into the swing of things around here not over doing it at all but enjoying those little milestones every day..

The weather here has been reasonably pleasant given that it is 10/10th overcast with a light breeze.

Looking at your forecast sends chills down my back, I think a long sleeve shirt or 10 plus coats just might be the order of the day. I really don't know how I would cope in temperatures like yours

Plum pudding made the traditional way. ( with cream, custard and ice cream ) mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Brett: I have to say the same, have a great Christmas and New Year with you and yours..

Nearly firing on all 8 now but just taking it easy as well. I have been potting on the sister car to Andrew's MG F yesterday afternoon and this morning.

I also received the nod from Mrs 1/2 Cup today to mow the back lawn ( its only small ) but I managed that with no problems before it got hot.

This month has been a lot warmer up north ( Blue Mountains ) and around Sydney than what it has been here and as an added bonus we have doubled our average rain fall so watering lawns hasn't been a real issue as yet.

i spent Thanksgiving in California and it was 90 degrees (about the temps you are quoting for your weather now) and it just didn't feel right so for Christmas we don't always have a White Christmas, but it snowed 4 inches last night so this one will be.

I'll keep sending a few of my prayers DOWN UNDER to 1/2 Cup and his family and hope you keep recovering cause when you post on all the threads you do i can usually see your smiling face in all of them.

(I'm only posting a couple snow pictures out my front door in case you don't know what SNOW looks like and yes the 3 grandkids had a blast playing in our front yard last night right up until about 11pm when their parents grabbed them to go to their homes)

It would feel vastly different for you guy having temperatures in the 90 s at this time of the year. A white Christmas is one thing I would like to experience at some point.

We do get snow up in the mountains during winter which are about a two hour drive from where we are, I have to admit to not having been up there for a number of years..

All is well and feeling fantastic, the Steroid's and Antibiotics have done the trick.

I have been much more active ( within reason ) the last few days since Christmas.

Just pottering in the shed and garden for the most part as Andrew has been here working on the sister MG F #74 car.

Naturally I have been out and about chasing the after Christmas sales so both Andrew and I brought a decent low profile aluminum trolley jack each at REPCO Auto parts 60% off sale which was a great buy at $216.00 AU

My old 4 D MAGLIGHT was in need of a LED upgrade so I have ordered the kit.

I managed to score another shop chair and shop stool on EBAY yesterday to compliment the couple of mid century BENDIX Industrial
Australian made chairs that I already have. These are bullet proof and will be around for a long while to come.

Our temperatures over the last few days have been in the mid to high 30 C but we received a cool change which will last into the next week and about 1/4 in of rain over night.

Our lawns are growing like crazy, however I can get away with a once a week cut..

Iced tea is extremely refreshing

Ralf, the Bendix chairs and stools come up occasionally but they are getting pretty pricy.
The taller one at the back came from my Dads place that was destined for a Garage sale and that's what got me started. I am still debating wether to fit castors to it and reupholster each in matching vinyl

I vote for castors - but I'm probably biased. In my first job out of university as a young Project Engineer I spent many hours rolling around on one while working at a cast iron hydraulic lift based drawing board updating old drawings for blueprints. Good times.

Was pretty chuffed when I managed to convince the powers that be to move to AutoCad version 2.53 - but I still have most of my old pens and drafting kit.

AutoCAD 2.53 goes a way back and there is still nothing like pen and paper in the right hands..

I love those old vintage chairs and i had more until i ran out of floor space (yes my FSD-flat surface disease doesn't stop at just bench tops). since the SHED DOWNUNDER is usually ready to work i agree that casters might be the best for you especially if the locks work to keep the chair steady when you are working on something with tight tolerances.

JB, now that's showing my age.

We use CAD out here at work, but I still like pencil and paper as there is just so much personality that goes into each drawing and they look just fantastic..
Not saying that I am terribly proficient with the pen and pencil..

Drives, upholstering is something I have never really tried to be honest and I will leave that to the professionals, I do have a couple of that I know do a nice work on Rods and cars so these will be no brainers to them..

The Bendix chairs and stools personify the era and they work well in the shed for me..

Thankfully I am a fully recovered FSD type person and mobility in the Shed Downunder is paramount to make it work well.

All, as my GP was going on leave for the next month Mrs 1/2 Cup suggested we make an appointment to basically get a few scripts renewed.
Anyway that standard consultation turned bigger than Ben Hur as we did a further medication review ( more changes to meds - note my GP is also a qualified Phamacist ) and just a general review of how my specialist Oncology treatment has progressed.

The verdict " you are really kicking goals "

I was / am stoked
