Steve, you seem to be on here later and later these days, I think whether or not you know it you are training yourself for retirement. Join us you will enjoy it :lol_hitti

Good to hear you are having wins with your health

Lyndsay

Lyndsay, it has been busy here in terms of spammers we have all had our work cut out for us big time and they are getting sneakier all the time and it is just part of what we do.

I would sincerely like to be in training for retirement that's for sure:thumbup: however like all things in life we must get the balance right, last week in hospital I had plenty of time to kill as well:thumbup:

My health is going well now, back on track so to speak:thumbup:

The real reason he has been on here so much is SPAM. Whilst he has had time out due to health he has been busy getting rid of the rubbish that blocks up this place and posts we do not like to see.

HOTFR8 that's for sure. All the Mods have all had their work cut out.

Well, I appreciate you doing that Steve. This is my favorite forum, and I'm constantly talking it up.

xtremek thank you:thumbup:
We do it for the love of it to keep the GJ as good as it is:thumbup:

Plus one

Lyndon
Time on my hands for once....

Thank you Lyndon:thumbup:

I hear it is a little wet up your way, no damage?

Thank you one and all, enjoy your day:thumbup:

Woo Hoo - looking good!

Plenty of QST left over the weekend to make those hot chips fly..

Many thanks Ralf99

My next challenge is to work out where I am going to put the lathe in a more permanent position as I have plonked where it landed basically. So that will mean a bit of reorganisation in the shed but I am looking forward to it.

The fence looks great Steve.

Aaron , many thanks:thumbup:

Another one ticked off on the To Do List:thumbup:

All the West Wing's front picket fence make over is officially finished this morning. :rocker:

Now for some more QST[emoji106]
That blue really sets of the white nicely. All in all a very attractive result for all the work you and Mrs. 1/2 cup did.
Good Luck with the shed shift around. It never ends. Ask me how I know.

1/2: with all the brick you have around your place I might have thought that was the plan for the house next door fence too, but the white pickets with blue really does look great as does everything over there. if I wasn't a homeowner and I had to rent I'd LOVE TO HAVE YOU AS MY LANDLORD.

since it's finally SATURDAY here I hope you enjoyed yours and even though I know the QST is calling your name i hope you have a restful rest of the weekend and maybe get to watch some golf (big tournament time in Australia this month isn't it and i know how you AUSSIES like your sports?)

cheers

Mrs 1/2 Cup has gone above and beyond and we are all proud of her effort..

Looks like water restrictions are not an issue for you as yet.

HOTFR8 we do have permanent stage 1 water restrictions that allows us to water up to 10 am

Fence looks GREAT Steve!

Thank you Jon:thumbup:

Good to hear health is getting back on track. Fence turned out great. Kudos to great teamwork. The Shed is going to be gerarded? Look forward to seeing the outcome.

Shorty thank you, healthwise things are starting to get back on track this last week or so with much more energy, minimal soreness or fatigue and breathing a lot easier to.
There is nothing like a bit of team work to get things done, it would have taken me a month of Sundays otherwise.

No as much as Gerard is an inspiration to us all in garage reorganization I am definitely not game enough to go to the lengths he has done. Just little bits at a time of "Continual Improvement is where I am at right now..

Steve looks like Main St. at Disney World!

Many thanks Bobby its great to see another job off the To Do List:thumbup:

Top notch sir.

xtremek thank you, I think it works well with the home.

Craptain many thanks:thumbup::thumbup:

We are really pleased with the out come for sure, our neighbours have complimented us as well:thumbup:

I have just started to get the lathe in position to see how it will work but as you know that means shifting a whole heap more to get there. It just a try and see at the moment to find out what works and what does not be we are getting there.

Drives, no brick fence this time, the pickets were a fair chore in them selves, that said I still have a few thousand ready to go for a few projects around here still.

The West Wing is labour of love for us and you do have to keep up with things and that will stand us in good stead later on without busting the bank.

I have just been pottering around, lawns, gardens, finish the picket fence, visit Dad, play with Shelby in the Shed, clean the shed gutters and just generally taking it easy.. I trust you have done the same:thumbup:

Bob she does it well and is well organised to suit.. I will pass your compliments on for sure:thumbup:

There is nothing like a bit of street appeal and detail.

Thank you yet again , I trust your weekend is going well:thumbup:

Different to here. I hardly use much water but then I also have grey water and rain water. We still have permanent restrictions. Water dishes I have to fill daily and hand sprinklers only. Your grass looks dry like here. Any thing green here is due to what little rain or grey water as I pump off.

HOTFR8 we do try and be fairly frugal with our watering and you can keep things green with out going over board.
I envy you with all your tanks I would luv to have the same:thumbup:

I'm going to quit singing "don't fence me in", if that's the kind of fence you'll use.

I agree that the fence looks great, all the effort was well worth it.

That is a funny looking swimming pool.

Strouty many thanks for the feed back.

Would you like to borrow some water?

Looks like storm water. :(

We will take all the water you can spare...

Clean water is OK.

Looks like I have enough water for this summer. All I need to do is make sure I keep my shed tanks full and I have to do that by pumping the house tanks so they do not overflow. Next door neighbour just put in two massive tanks. Decided it was cheaper than a drilling a bore and I have to agree with him it is.

HOTFR8 its great to see you have enough water to get you through h the summer.

A bore can be expensive, quick question what is the depth of your water table there.???

The finished front fence on the west-wing looks really great. [emoji106]

It would seem that permanent water restrictions ARE the plan to ensure we have enough water. In the south of the state in the "growth corridor" where new suburbs west of Melbourne and around Geelong have been created over the past decade or so there has been a focus on recycling grey water which appears to be fairly successful - and of course there is a mothballed desalination plant down near Phillip Island which can help out Melbourne - but is too expensive to turn on...

The population of Greater Melbourne is forecast to double in the next 30 years, so let's hope they have solid plans in place.

Can't believe you blokes are on permanent water restrictions. Is there not some plan in place to ensure you are supplied enough water?.

Lyndsay

Have been for many years now. Hand held sprinklers only here.

Also a reason why drilling a bore has become so expensive. As for the Desal Plant lets not get Political. It was built so it should be used other wise it will simply have been built for nothing.

I am sure 1/2 with his work has heard all this before.

Well I hope I have enough water. As for the bore we never did follow through. Simply too expensive.

HOTFR8, bores are prohibitively expensive:shocking:

Lyndsay yep, stage one permanent restrictions for some years now. That said you can still work within the restrictions and have a nice garden on a typical house block.

Ralf99 a plan for the future in terms of water resources is spot on

I totally endorse the focus on recycling grey water on these new developments its a no brainer in my book:thumbup:

Like it or hate it we hate a Desalination plant, it does get run periodically but if you were struggling to get water out of your taps at home you would be pleased it is there I am guessing, similarly with the North South pipeline.

All very political and we could discuss this for ages but it is done and dusted

Steve, I was not thinking of where you worked when I asked the question!
I was actually shocked that places have permanent water restrictions, especially where you live as the pictures you post of your place makes it look like you live in an oasis, I am even more impressed now that I know you don't have full access to water.
As for desalination plant they built one down near Sydney they never use either, so I guess politicians are tossers in all states!
We have only had about 3 feet of rain here this year, which is way down on normal, hoping for more next year..
Cheers.

Thanks for the info Ralf. They bought in recycled water in the new suburbs of Sydney when I still lived there, last century, which stopped water restrictions permanently, which was good, but it added thousands to the price of a new home.
Now I live in gods country water restrictions are a thing of the past :lol_hitti

One thing I have learnt in this life, is that although the geniuses in govt have decided to double the population, they will do nothing about infrastructure until a major problem surfaces :shocking:

Lyndsay it is one of those things we learn to live with. The Permanent Water Saving Rules aren't to harsh in reality and we cope with them pretty well.

I could only wish we had that much rain per year, that is awesome..

Taking me a bit longer to make the rounds this week. These last weeks before the end of year holidays are always trying to shoehorn 4-6 weeks work into 2 weeks. :willy_nil

The fence came out looking great Steve! At the rate you’re burning through the maintenance and the honey-dos, you look to be setting up for nice relaxing holiday.

I’ve been willing a lot of rain your way this week. Some visiting Melbournites/Melbournians got stuck in the airport delays caused by the storm on Tuesday. Most having just been through the one in Sydney a few days back. Told them to take it back with them too. Statistics going around that we’ve had 5 times the normal rainfall for October to November and that September was above average too. Hoping December balances out the averages just a bit so I can at least try and keep up with the weekly lawn mowing.

Strangely enough we had light water usage restrictions last year. If we get below average rainfall, we don't currently have enough storage to keep up with demand. :headscrat

To hear you talk about water restrictions seems very strange, but very smart. You all seem to have found good ways around them.

Hmmm ... I know I haven't been around much lately but I'm a little disappointed. You know, the fence looks pretty good from a distance!!! BUT....

All the West Wing's front picket fence make over is officially finished this morning. :rocker:

Now for some more QST:thumbup:

... Where are the pics showing the micrometer alignment of the pickets, and clocked screws????

We are used to this kind of precision on your grass trimming ...

All, I gave the new Atom Lawn Edger its first serious outing this morning and there is nothing more satisfying to have ones lawns freshly mown with millimeter accuracy and nice and crisp edges ...:)

Guster I am with you, its the same here when it comes to the end of the year but I am making a point not getting wound up with it all and just enjoy the season.

Thank you on the fence:thumbup: We have made great inroads with the West Wing of late, getting all those little things done as you would do on your own home and it is very satisfying let me tell you.

We have missed most of the rain going around over the last few months and it is pretty dry. When we do get rain we get weeds every where.

In terms of water storages we are in reasonable shape considering the agriculture, urban, peri-urban and environmental flows this year and perhaps next year as well even with below average rain fall.
It make sense not to waste such a precious commodity.

To hear you talk about water restrictions seems very strange, but very smart. You all seem to have found good ways around them.

xtremek it is smart and flexble indeed but the restrictions are very workable, in reality there is no issues at all, my lawns and gardens don't ever suffer..
