If you go upholstered - my experience says vinyl will be easier to work than a fabric or carpet (unbacked)

Sorry for the lack of response to this thread. I have decided I am going to stick with my painting idea and thus I am going to install the box as it is for now and save up to paint it.

Well I installed the box today and it fit surprisingly it might be too tall for the rear speakers but if so I'm just going to have spacers made for them.

I forgot to fill in the screw holes that held the rings up with sealant (3 per side) will this cause any issue?

you shouldnt notice any issues if the holes are small. But be sure to fill them in when you finish the box. maybe fill them with some bondo for now. It looks pretty good.

My plan was to fill them when I painted the box but use the box with them in it for now. They are small screw holes that were just used to hold the 2x4 the trim ring was mounted. I am happy with the looks and think it will look even better when it's painted (might be silver with black stripes or just silver I don't know yet)

The logo came out pretty good too.

I dont know if its been mentioned already but heres a small tip I learned that will help you out a ton:
Get a 1/4" roundover bit or even a rabbeting bit for you router and cut a groove around you edges and your sub rings that you can staple your fabric into. For the roundover bit you just set it deeper than you nornally would for a smooth round edge. It makes a stepped roundover. Once you resin the fabric you can use bondo-glass to build up the transition between the fabric and the mdf. It keeps your nice clean edges from your mdf cuts. Also, cover the bare mdf with painters tape where the fabric meets it and you wont have to sand bondo off of the wood. Doing it this way also keeps you from sanding through your fabric where you stapled it. I can try to do an illustration in MS paint if I didnt explain that well enough.

You did a good enough job and I know what your saying. I found it difficult to find video's/advice on fiberglass so I had to kinda wing some of this stuff but I'm happy with how it came out.

Yeah I don't know what happened. Now I need to get 2 inch spacers for my rear speakers (6x9) and figure out where I'm going to mount the fronts.

Are the 6x9s in the package shelf? If so you could build you up some spacers out of mdf. 2 Layers of 3/4 will give you 1.5".

Yes they are I'm debating just paying someone to do it they said it would be like 40 bucks I have bigger things to deal with. That's also a while down the road.

I say just build a strong front stage and eliminate the rear speakers.

Sent from my <~ Galaxy SII ~€

I already bought them and I like having some rear fill. I have the hybrid audio technologies for the front and rear.

I'm going for very clean and simple. Plus on a semi budget

I have a 07 GT500 with all performance mods to date. I have always wanted a system but was always more focused on the performance side.

With the colder months this is the perfect project.

Kenwood 719 head unit
Focal access 3 ways in the front doors
And 6.5 access in the rear deck
JL 600/1 and 400/4
JL 12w6 in the trunk

I built a new mdf floor that will have the amps mounted flush in the floor
The box is built seperate from the face due to the side of the trunk opening
I'm still debating a plexiglass SVT to be mounted flush in the center of the trunk. Either back lit with blue LED's or dipped in hydro carbon

The face of the box will be painted blue with white stripes to match my car

zporta looks good. I honestly forgot about this thread. I am including a few pictures of my box finished but not installed.

I had the box painted to match the car and then had some free hand pin stripping done. I love how the box came out and the Chevy logo will light up Blue.
