The next iteration is gonna be much better too. Lot of stuff we wanna change. But he has a track day this weekend so we will see how they hold up.

We have a whole lot of parts to make for his bike and I think I might end up picking up a Bare r6 frame and slowly building it up for a track bike too as this thing is making me want one so bad lmao

Well looks like I'm building my own r6 track bike now. lmao I have a chassis showing up next week. About to be a load of new 2 wheel content in here. I also picked this up over winter and have some custom parts planned for it aswell!

The parts to build up my own R6 are starting to come in. Swingarm with suspension just showed up.

Immediately tore it down and put everything on the scale. Gonna try to build the lightest R6 ever.

Drew up a Billet linkage and links

Working on some changes to the rearsets after their first track day over the weekend.

Rear-wheel will be here today. Went with a 08-17 zx6r rear wheel as I believe it should weigh less than the r6 wheel. I will find out once it's in and if it is Ill order a matching front. If not ill get a set of stock r6 wheels. The frame will be here tomorrow along with some 6 piston R1 calipers. Forks will be in next week.

Weighing every part as it comes in and working on custom options to reduce weight anywhere possible.

Peg position moved and cutouts added. still very stiff so going to reduce the thickness and add some pockets in the back and see where it's at weight-wise and strength-wise. Keep forgetting to get a weight on the stock ones.

Ignore the shifter its getting a large makeover and moved alot.

everything is pretty much just done with calipers and mics. We don't have any CMM or any other fancy equipment. Our mills don't even have probes
My boss isn't into technology or extra options we get the basics haha.


It's got a long way to go, but it at least kinda resembles a bike now.

Hoping my buddy can get going on the custom rear subframes for them soon. They are lightweight and get rid of a bunch of brackets and stuff we don't need as well as letting us run 2017+ bodywork. Once I get a subframe I will probably pick up some fairings.

and this bike is getting in a rideable state again finally. I don't like my machined chainstays but if I can at least ride them for now, who cares. Paint should be here for it later this week. Doing a metallic Grey, the same color as my GTI. I also plan to paint the r6 the same color. Forks are getting anodized gold and looking at picking up an Ohlins rear shock too.

did the clutch in my GTI this weekend. Southbend Stage 3 Daily, ready to make some power now.



also needed a new rear main so upgraded to a billet flange well i was at it



also did a new front swaybar



and ofcourse brakes








I sent out these new dust shields for the rotors to get cut out. gonna have my buddy weld-on mounts for ducts. I removed the front foglights and gonna make those the intake spot for the ducts. Want to mold it out of carbon but might just make it out of some sheet aluminum too. we will see.



getting this rear diffuser cut out aswell. Not the greatest pic but it will continue with the flat floor from the gas tank back

Working on custom intake and airbox for the GTI. Whipped up this rough cardboard template. Hoping I have some aluminum big enough to make prototype #1 tomorrow. If not I need to order some sheet aluminum as I have a few projects that will take advantage of it.

all bent up. It's pretty rough but a good starting point as a working proto. Will get it test fit later on today.

so it fit surprisingly well for just eyeballing it and not measuring anything.

This is very rough and has a long way to go. it will be fully enclosed and metal intake piping. The coolant line needs to be re-ran underneath as well.

got the dust shields in from getting laser cut



as well as main plate for the diffuser



picked up this kit of boost pipes for cheap. double size of stock ones and also aluminum vs plastic




wrapped them in heat tape. Its not pretty but function over form



The fitment of the kit was absolute garbage. Once we start building a intercooler these pipes will get modified so there is no more silicone and replaced with Vibrant clamps

slowly debagging it and getting rid of all the red accents



these are an idea I had for some strut mounts, inspired by pics of the Porsche 993 GT1. One of my favorite racecars of all time. Not sure really all the benefit this brings besides slightly easier to drop the strut and they look cool lol





and also some beefier swaybar mounts with grease zerks

Well I have a little different change of pace. My in-laws own a gun shop and machine a lot of AR parts aswell as other stuff. They recently fired their machinist and asked if I could come help out some with CAD/CAM work. Its been about a week now and been busy with them. First off they have 0 cad files of anything. no blueprints nothing as when they fired the old machinist he deleted everything off the computer. So starting from scratch I've been busy drawing everything up as well as finding ways to improve production. First off, their efficency has so much room to be improved. They have 3 Mills running lowers. One machine does 3 lowers of the first op, the second machine does 3 lowers of the second op. 3rd machine does 3 lowers first op and 3 lowers 2nd op. They are doing about 6 in an hour and a half. My fixture design does 20 in 3 hours between only 2 machines.



Ive also been working on new products for them. Trying to get them to do a skeletal AR but they don't think there would be any interest.



I started machining one, but have quite a ways to go still



this is a 9mm AR that im working on they want to start producing






There is a lot more stuff, I'll try to take pics next time I'm there and post better updates if anyone is interested.

Heres some renders of a Bolt action AR I made for fun. pretty much custom everything, Titanium nitrade coated barrel and BCG. Might make one of these for fun if I have the time.



My fixture design has been rejected for reason I think make no sense. My setup does 20 at a time with one op in one machine and second op in another. They want to have op 1 and 2 going in the same mill incase one machine breaks. Which I get as a concern but the machines are a year old and they have other open machines that if one went down the fixture could be swapped over to in a matter of an hour or 2 and back up and running. But whatever I'm just here to help them out some, they are the ones to make the decision and I get paid either way I guess. Just bummed to know that there is a better option and it being rejected. They are also keeping their current fixture design for the second op which I personally hate but again not my decision and I'm not the one running them. No matter what I'll still get the run time down as whoever currently programmed them didn't think it through very well and there is a ton of wasted time and poor utilization of tooling.

Its all good, feel like I'm pretty use to it. Worked with alot of guys who will only do something if its their own idea. oh well

That seems like the best way to do it. I told him they should really move these to a horizontal with atleast a couple pallets. Only would have to load it like twice a day then and could cut down the number of Ops by half

Well they decided to just stick with the current setup amd duplicate it into amother machine

Just seems like such a poor ulilization of space to me but I don't get paid the big bucks to make the final decision

Been working on improving lower receiver tool paths. Currently total machine time is about 19 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to get all the milling actually done and the last few min is hole work. I got all the milling down to 7 minutes flat right now. I do have a couple small toolpaths to do so it will probably end up at 8 minutes.







I also have not given up on getting them to move to a fixture. This is my latest design and they really liked this one. So there is hope I can get them to go to it. Uses MiteeBites uniforce clamps for first op with some serrated jaws and MiteeBites ID Xpansion clamps and locating dowels for second op. Doing both ops in one machine like they want.







In other news, I have my first trackday coming up for my GTI and have a few things I want to get done beforehand. Thankfully I'm making some good extra chedda with this gun work and my wife also recently graduated from nursing school finally. She starts her new position in a few weeks so are total income is getting quite a large bump. That means the GTI is gonna get a little love.

New coilovers is top of my list, got my eye on some KW V3's. Suppose to be amazing road and track coilovers and 3 way adjustable. New wheels is also top of the list. Even though I love my BBS, I want to drop down to some 18s that are much lighter. I test fit my Buddies SSR type F. Ofcourse I had to fall in love with them but they have been discontinued for over a decade and seem to be impossible to find in the specs I need.



So instead I'm gonna run these Konig Dekagrams. Only $1000 for a full set and they weigh just under 19lbs a piece for 18x8.5s. I'm gonna order then next weekend and get them powder coated white right away and slap on some meaty tires.

Got started on first couple prototypes for New skeletal design lowers



running some test on tooling to see how much we can push these little 3/16 endmills that are used in the forearms. The current time it takes to machine them is insane, Cant make enough of them with 3 machines running them 24/7. Time to fix that. Im just surprised this didnt break and kept going. They have the issue now where they keep breaking these and I was running this one 3x faster then they currently are running them. The difference is I was ramping them into the material instead of straight plunging. I think that is gonna be our key to reducing cycle time.



and if you happen to have $3300 laying around and want to measure some holes. Here is a good solution for you. Although it only reads 1" - 2" so if you need more then one you better be ready to bend over

I really like the new fixturing and appreciate the reduction in touch and cycle time. Suspect you might be, but if you are not using an up cutting pcd tool you might take a look. It also appears your tool is a long way from the spindle bearing, so a loss of stiffness isn't helping the 3/16th milling cutter.

thanks man, Sadly have to use an extended holder for clearance with the 4th axis.

Something I started designing awhile ago was a fully billet bike frame. I didn't get to far into it but seeing this gave me a lot of motivation and inspiration. I know my looks quite similar but I don't want to copy it exactly but I do absolutely love how it looks so its gonna have similar attributes.



and here is mine so far. Still has a very long ways to go and I will be redoing the whole rear end, the pockets won't be all the way thru like that.

New wheels and tires for my GTI.

Got new adapters in, still too thick so turning them down, gonna have to raise car a bit and add a degree or 2 of camber out back

Turned these adapters down to 10mm, shorted the lug bolts, Turned down the OD of Lug nuts to fit better and turned down a socket to fit aswell. Major PITA for a single set of wheels



And they pretty much fit. Need to add a degree of camber out back and raise the car up a little and we should be good
