I love your work

How was working with the carbon? Did your dash fit back without any issues?
From what I can see, it looks great. What other parts are you planning in carbon?

edit: I just saw your suspension for the 4Runner. Please post more of that as you progress, I get tight in my nether regions when it comes to Long Travel. Where I live there is none, only squatters haha. I have always had an interest in it for many years and yours is looking fantastic so far.

I keep forgetting to make updates in here. Ive decided to try to cut down on some projects so that i can focus on one and actually try to finish something for once! ha

The jetta is gonna get parted out so that I can get my CC back on the road. I picked up a motor for it that im building for a turbo setup but to start ill be swapping the motor out of the jetta into the cc. The cc never came with the 5cyl so I am swapping the whole body harness and dash over to keep it simple. The cc is already completely gutted and ready for a swap. The only thing I really need to do is a brake setup. Ill be doing a full manual setup with wilwood calipers, rotors, and pedal. No abs becuase less electronics the better and it will also help with the AWD swap.

Heres my overall render for the CC. Ignore the wheels sticking out there is a widebody kit made for the cc that I am going to be picking up once the swap is in.

These are the 3 peice centerlock wheels i designed for it aswell

attachment.php

The plan is to do track days with it but it will still get street driven 95% of the time.

picked up these front control arms, I had designed my own just like this but they popped up for so cheap it saves me a lot of time. the only difference is my design uses a large uniball for the ball joint. down the road ill make my own but not gonna worry about it for now.
they are rough but just need paint. ill send them to powder coat with some other parts.

attachment.php

Modified the oem lower control arms to have heims until i make billet ones

attachment.php

Here is the latest of my rear suspension design. It still needs alot of work and wont be something Ill do anytime soon but its a long term goal for this project.

attachment.php

Made a billet valve cover for the 5 cyl

attachment.php

also designed a fully billet modular intake manifold for it

attachment.php

attachment.php

Heres a billet front spindle i designed to work with my control arms

attachment.php

And heres the start of a short shifter im working on.

Sorry its alot of renders. Its hard getting machine time in after hours. Alot of this im not concered about getting made till the car is actually running and back on the road and then I can slowly get some of this stuff made for it.
The wife will be out of school next year and ill be opening my own shop finally so soon ill be able to crank out alot more stuff :rocker:

As far as the 4runner goes its on the back burner. gonna just get driven thru winter and probably sold in the spring for something else but my mind still isnt made up. trying to focus on this project for now.

Wow going thru this thread there is alot I havent posted.

I did this in the beginning of the year. Trying to clean up my wilton to make it all shnazzy again. Was also modifying it to fit custom dovetail jaws but my dovetail cutter broke well doing the fixed jaw. I bought a new one but its been 8 months and I still havent finished it lol

attachment.php

Trying to get my box more organized. adding some labels as I still forget where stuff is and it makes it easier when someone needs to borrow something.

attachment.php

I bought material to make custom drawers for my reamers and taps like i did for my drill but its another thing I havent gotten around too. Gonna try to whip them out tonight

attachment.php

attachment.php

I also painted my kennedy ealier this year

attachment.php

My kennedy pictured in the previous post that i have at my other mill i also plan on painting. I plan on redoing alot of stuff on it. I want to get a metal work top made for it and move my granite. I ordered stuff to build in the electronics and air like my main box. I also got some sliders so I can build the computer into it as well but have it slide out so its easier when i need to get to it. Ill try to post up progress of that a little better.

Got my other little kennedy painted. I think it looks 100x better now. I also cut the front cover so instead of covering all the drawers it only covers the bottom open area and the bottom drawer. Need to make a plate to cover up the gap still. Also got some of the electrical and air stuff to start getting that all done up in it.

Here's an idea that a guy like you could execute over coffee. The old Campagnolo 5mm Allen key with the drive thimble.. very nice to use. It would be sweet to make some thimbles to fit a whole size range.. just bore them so they would press fit over the keys.

Ive never seen those before, I could def whip up a set of those. I like that idea alot actually!

I also might actually get to ride this thing once this year. Finally got sick of waiting to have time to make all the parts I wanted for this and put it back together how it was. Shock has had issues which is the main reason I didnt have it together but finally got it sorted

Campy also made one in a T shape. The short ends are 6 mm allen and the long end is a 10 mm socket.

I'd buy a standard and metric set off you..if you get serious, let me know.

Ive got quite a bit of work right now but I can mess around with those little later! Should be pretty easy to knock out for you.

Really Want to get the billet chainstays done to convert it to 29" wheel in the back. This set will work but once I know they do Ill be machining a new set that are more optimized for weight and strength. I also need more clearance on drive side so I can swap to belt Drive. I also want to finally get my own hubs made, i bought the materials along time ago. It would be a 20mm axle front and back instead of the 12mm in the back currently.

Here is brake mount and pivot point for seatstay. This will bolt onto the chainstay, might weld it on in later versions.

After OP1

attachment.php

OP2 decked down the excess material on the back to the right size. This is after OP3

attachment.php

And here is how it will sit on the seatstay. All it needs left is the holes. The driveside can be much simpler and just needs to hold the bearings.

If im going to make my own hubs finally I need to get my 2 peice rotors made. What works out well is my boss wants to try out a new laser cut place that specializes in stainless so we are sending them the files to get a wuopte but should have the outer rings cut out soon then. As for the centers they will most likely be aluminum but Im really tempted to try to get some either lasered out of Carbon or buy a 1/4 carbon sheet and machine them out.

Started tearing in my jetta down. almost ready to pull whole dash support, HVAC box, and body harness and transplant in the CC shell. Hoping to have it all in Friday night or Saturday and then we can pull the motor and swap in. It's really not too bad at all. Everything bolts in so we should be able to have the first start by end of the weekend. :fingersx:

attachment.php

attachment.php

Test fit the dash. the CC dash support doesnt fit it at all but i wanted a general idea how it would fit width wise and at the a pillars. Not great but im not too concerned. Im going to flock the dash so we can shape it a bit with fiberglass and re flock

attachment.php

I was going to wait to order the widebody but they have 30% off right now so ordered the front and rear fenders. Not going to be slammed like this but will help me fit a little more meat underneath.

attachment.php

Finally got my side panels in for my roof rack too. Sent it to the Laser shop 3 months again. better late then never. now to get everything else made for it

Also did a test fit of the billet chainstays and new brake mount with a 29" wheel. Figuring out where exactly im going to have it placed as it all effects the total geometry of the bike

Working on a new Link for it too. Makes a more progressive leverage ratio and will also let me run the longer shock more easily. It will also work with a custom shock eyelet i have designed for my shock that has a bearing in it to reduce friction.

Here it is roughed out. Ran out of time to run a finish pass so ignore how crappy it looks right now or dont, its your life do what you want.

and last but not least an idea for a new stem that has hidden hardware. would be bolted up thru the bottom of the top crown. More of a pain to work on but i dont think ive removed my stem once in the last 2 years lol

thanks!

Got my car about 6 days ago now and this is definitely the most fun car I've ever had all stock. I really don't want to do much to it. Few suspension and cosmetic things, but other than that keep it stock.

I am working on this billet rear brace tho. I think it's too bulky right now. The next one will get thinned down a bit.

Working on a bunch of stuff for a buddy's R6. It's now sole purpose is for track duties so we have been stripping anything unnecessary and reducing as much weight as we can.

We first made these jigs to find where he wanted the Pegs

attachment.php

This is a couple of prototypes in but where we are currently at.

attachment.php

It changes a lot of stuff. New shifter brackets removed kick stand and a bunch of weight. Brake lever design is all changed to a similar style as a lot of motoGP bikes.

as far as the GTI goes have a few projects in the works. The main one is getting these Brembos on. I got adapters machined and are about to paint the calipers and they are ready to go on. Just wanted to add a little extra touch.

Lots of cool stuff!
Did you just clamp down the calipers on the machine table or did you build a jig for you NC to locate. Not sure if you have said if your NC machine has probing or not.
Nice work on the brackets and thanks for sharing.

thanks!

No jig, just held it in the vise. Our machines do not have probes but they have a find center function where you can pick up 2 edges it find the center point between them. so i did that for x and y and then just made my origin on the center of the face.
