heres a bad screenshot from a vid I took.

a few cerakote test on bad protos

Onto the KTM. Got new tank and shrouds in. Shrouds are rough but all mounting points are intact where as my old ones were very broke and floppy. these only need to last a couple rides to finish off the season.

20211029_185922.jpg

I think the all white will look alot better once the frame is orange and has some other orange bits. Right now its not my fav.

Also got these vf4 reeds

20211029_190036.jpg

apparently I already had these exact same reeds they just weren't labeled on the outside lmao

20211029_191136.jpg

New reeds in. The petcock on the new tank sits much lower so the fuel line was kinda funky

20211029_192323.jpg

Just trimmed it a bit. not great but it's much better.

20211029_192440.jpg

Don't worry I will finally get this thing washed tomorrow!

We went for a ride yesterday up in Traverse City. We ran some single track that our buddy laid out. Now when I mean single track, I mean it was so tight you could walk through it faster it probably. It was ridiculous tight. I had fun, I can't ride stuff like that all the time but every once and awhile its fun. The main thing that happened though is I ended up riding my dads 250 XC-F for most of the ride. I did not expect it at all but I absolutely fell in love with that bike. I have never ridden a full size 4 stroke, I was always 2 smoker til I die. But ill be damned I want a 4 stroke now. So much in fact my buddy said he will buy my 150 this winter so now Im on the hunt for a 250 XC-F. Im gonna try to save up a little extra cash and get a 2019+ model if I can. Or else a 2016-2018 would be killer too. My dads is an 18 and my 150 is a 16 so same generation bikes. In 2019 they did quite a few refinements and they also received new plastics.

20211030_125022~2.jpg

Since this thread is in the garage gallery section now Ill give an update on my humble "garage".
I did some cleaning and ended up throwing away so much ****. Went down from 7 bins and a bunch of boxes to 4 bins ( 1 of which is parts someone will be picking up in a couple weeks so its really 3 bins) and 2 boxes which I will get rid of here shortly as well. The whole shed still looks tragic but Ill build some shelves and a bench and start getting rid of all the clutter lying around. It doesn't seem as bad in person and than I look at these pics and I think wow this is horrendous.

20211031_193441.jpg

I also picked up a wheelset and an airbox for the r6 today!

20211031_193448.jpg

Slowly starting to look like a bike. My plan is to get rid of all this stuff laying around and get a pit mat for each bike and a stand for the r6. Then they can each have their own side of the shed and a workbench in the back.

Great work on the lowers, lots of hard work paying off, well done. I've ridden a few 2 stroke bikes in the past but I absolutely love the 4 strokes in comparison, so much more usable power and it doesn't make me feel like I'm ringing its neck every time I ride.

Thanks! really excited on how they are coming along. Have a few more getting cerakoted today and working on some tweaks and custom accessories for them.

More usable power is a good way to describe it. In the tight stuff I was able to just keep it in one gear instead of constantly going up and down gears on my 2 stroke to try to keep it in the power band. On this trail it was so tight I could keep the 250 in 1st gear 90% of the time. I could lug it in 2nd but I don't like the feel of that. My 150 I could also kinda lug it in 2nd but it would delay so much to get into power that it was better to go down to 1st. But then its so short Im constantly going up and down thru 1-2-3. On more flowy trails its better for sure but man I just felt so comfortable on the 4 stroke. The suspension was a whole lot stiffer then what I like and It was still better. It's also about 25lbs heavier than my bike and I couldn't even really tell a difference.

If you thought my little shed was because we had some massive house taking up all the space on our lot you would be very wrong.

We bought this ~600sqft of cheap 80s remodel soaked with cigarette smoke 4 years ago. We were barely 20 and couldn't afford much. We got it for about $65k. The market was already wild at that time, anything decent we would find for around 100k would sell within hours for a cash deal over asking. We couldn't compete with that at all. Originally our plan was to remodel it quickly and try to resell it a few years down the road once my wife was out of school and move into something a little more spacious that had a pole barn, or at-least space to build one. Well 4 years later we are not close to being done on the remodel and we don't even know if we could buy anything else. I mean we could, my wife and I both make double what we did 4 years ago but we still are not even close to rolling in the dough. If the market didn't continue to climb at a rediculous rate then it would be no problem. But neither of us really wanna buy something with current pricing. Our main goal is to finish this place up and stick here and see if mabye its not so bad once its not always in a constant state of renovation. I mean the second bedroom (it barely fits a twin bed so hard to call it a second bedroom but it is what it is I guess) has been tool and material storage this whole time.

Anyways its been 4 years and we want to get this damn place done already. If I want to look into building a garage the house needs to be fully finished first. We did a quick remodel of it first so we could live here. The thing is though, I am not good with working on houses. Metalworking I got all day, when it comes to wood its a different story. We are now redoing a lot of what we originally did.

To give you an idea of what this place looked like when we got it here are a few pics of the living room and kitchen compared to where they are currently at. We are drywalling this whole area at the moment. Right now I am working on drywalling the bulkheads and adding some downward lighting. I also just hung up the barn door tonight.

Screen Shot 2021-11-01 at 8.32.55 PM.png

20211101_191234~2.jpg

The kitchen is next on the list. My dad built us new cabinets for above the sink and refridgerator. Ignore the boxes above the fridge, they are there purely to keep our cat from using the fridge as a way to get up into the bulkheads. We need to pickup all new lower cabinets, countertops and sink and then we can strip it all out and drywall it.

I absolutely hate doing house work like this and thats part of the reason its taken so long but I need to get my *** in gear. I am going to try to post updates in here to see progress, maybe that will give me the slightest bit of motivation.

And another year goes by where I waited too long to put my winter tires on

20211112_193925.jpg

Man I hate winter, let me rephrase. I hate winters in Michigan. We don't get enough snow to really justify snowmobiles. There are trails a 1/4 mile from my house but it just is hard to justify the cost of sleds to only get to ride them a couple times. We don't have mountains so even when we do get snow its not very fun to go snowboarding locally. Just 5 months where you leave for work in the dark and get back in the dark. Its cold and wet and miserable.

On a positive note, I've got some pretty trick parts in.

Bad pic but got this carbon front disc cover from a company in europe.

20211105_171439.jpg

I just scored a Factory KTM carbon chain guide! It just came in but I haven't got a pic of it yet so I will post one up later.

The lightweight race subframe for the R6 finally made its way here from Norway.

Pretty lightweight

20211112_102130.jpg

Heres a quick mockup because its below freezing outside now and my hands were frozen in the 2 minutes it took me to do this lol

20211112_193853.jpg

As far as the Pew Pew stuff, its going well.

Pistol is getting closer, still making tweaks to fix issues but its very close.

20211111_191549~2.jpg

Got some of my test forearms cerakoted

20211111_084734~2.jpg

The office approves of them and we are gonna to try a few changes, But it looks like they want to switch all forearms over to my design now. So thats pretty cool. I had made them on my own and been keeping them in my back little corner and I walked into the office for something else. The girls in the office go, oh Chase we need to talk to you. Unsure where that was gonna go I just said "yea?". The pulled out one of my forearms someone brought to them and they told me they loved them.

Here is that factory carbon chain guide. So trick, Im stoked on it.

20211114_183152.jpg

Got a few more parts on the way for the R6, should be here next week.

Working on a Top triple clamp. Tried to kinda mimick the moto GP designs where the center is thinner for the flex charastics. Now will my design actually do anything? Almost certainly no, will I be able to tell a difference? Definitely not, at least not yet. Mabye once I have more seat time on the track.

Screen Shot 2021-11-14 at 3.17.59 PM.png

Screen Shot 2021-11-14 at 3.18.25 PM.png

and of course more pew pew action

Opened up and squared up the trigger pocket on my lower

20211113_195804~2.jpg

You can compare it to pic in previous post where the front and back are fully rounded. I think this looks so much better in my oppinion.

20211113_215517.jpg

They want to do something new with the lowers and mainly the trigger pocket so I started working on some ideas for that as well.

got a little time in to organize the shed some more

20211115_212016.jpg

started building a work bench for the back, or should I say horizontal space to collect ****.
I am going to build shelves underneath it to organize all the **** in boxes under it. Its mainly hardware so I need to get something to sort it all out nicely. We are also putting some baseboard heaters in our house so I think I am gonna grab an extra little one and toss it in the shed so I can work out there this winter on the bikes.

I had an epiphany, why build shelves when a tool box would be a far better option. Space for tools which I am severly lacking and space to organize all the hardware and **** in those cardboard boxes. I am going to pick up 2 more of those Husky rollers I have at work. I already ordered a bunch of Schaller bins to organize hardware.

Picked up these clips ons, I was told they were renthal and I love renthal handlebars but I recieved Vortex ones. Oh well no biggie both get job done. Got the Motion pro throttle with them. Good deal for both, $190.

Start todays post off with the first G17 Proto

20211119_112218.jpg

Some Ti linkage bolts for the KTM are on the way, possibly getting a full Ti kit for a 250 from same seller.

Screenshot_20211121-135643_Chrome.jpg

Got a front axle in for the R6. Small but arguably very important part lol. Now I need to order some titanium so I can make my own axles.

20211121_165427.jpg

Not sure what size bolts these subframe bolts are but couldn't find anything that would fit. So had to order some but now thats taken care off.

20211119_121511.jpg

A bunch of Schaller bin goodness to organize this mess finally.

20211119_125329.jpg

I also posted about this Transition Smuggler I built up a few months ago. I had been trying to sell it but the only thing I sold was the drivetrain. I decided to just keep it at this point, Im going to turn it into a little play/4x bike. Something fun to ride in the skills park. I just need to buy new hubs for it. Im gonna convert it to single speed and powder coat the frame KTM orange. Gonna try to get that done by end of the year so we can make our annual trip to Rays Indoor bike park soon.

20210901_165448~2.jpg

With converting to SS and removing dropper this thing should be well under 30lbs which will be wicked. I need to lower the fork own to 120 or 130mm aswell. I also think it would be cool to get another one of the factory seat covers I have on my KTM and use the material to wrap a saddle for this bike. Just to tie it all together. Im also thinking of powder coating the rear end on this a grey or silver and just the front triangle KTM orange. Not sure yet, can't make up my mind.

If you are going to do it, you have to really do it. Can’t have that black and green rear triangle with the KTM orange!

I have to ask when is the pistol going to be for sale. I'd support a local firearm mfg I have been in the market for a new pistol for a while. And love the look of the "G17" that you made.

We are hoping to be in production by the end of the year!

We will have 2 models starting off that will be a Glock 19 frame and a Glock 17 frame. We will be starting off with pretty limited production though until we have our new addition finished and room for more machines. I will keep this thread updated as we get closer.

Awesome! I take it we'd have our choice of Cerekote finishes?
ofcourse! I think we have over 20 different options we offer on our AR currently and we will be offering same for glock plus more down the road. Pretty much any basic color plus a bunch of battleworn options as well.

So I kinda went on a buying spree over the last 24 hours...

20% for black friday was enough for me to finally pull the trigger on these Luxon Triple clamps. they are so dang trick.

luxon-optimized-triple-clamps-ktm-husqvarna-orange-lux-ktm-ss-a0004-image_a02.jpg

I also got their billet mounts for Renthals oversized Fatbar 36

luxon-ktm-bar-mounts-lux-gen-ss-a0001-90fb36-28-image_b01.jpg

along with their pivot bearing race. Its almost half the weight of stock and is DLC coated for better performance. I figured since I have their linkage and rocker and now the titanium pivot bolts this would be last piece to the puzzle here.

luxon-lightweight-ktm-suspension-linkage-race-lux-ktm-ss-p0027-image_a02.jpg

and here is some of the Ti hardware

20211124_121229.jpg

I came across this throttle tube. Apparatly it was from the KTM Factory team, its a motion pro but tube is replaced with carbon. Super trick part that I had to have even though it will make no difference for me. I sent them an offer for $50 and they accepted it so its mine now.

s-l1600-2.jpg

Now this last one was kind of a on the whim purchase. Came across it on ebay, sent them a lowball offer of $250 and they came back at me with $300. I wasn't expecting that and so I accepted it. I figured thats a good deal for Factory edition frame. Honestly it would be close to that price to have a frame powdercoated orange anyways.

s-l1600-3.jpg

I think what Im gonna do with this is build it up as a roller, then buy a full 250 bike and swap the motor and electronics over. Then sell the other bike as a roller. Ive seen a handfull pop up lately and they go for a good amount of money still. I already have quite a few parts to build this frame up. its a 2016 frame, they were same from 2016-2019. 2020 and up is almost identical frame but slightly different body work. I want to do 2020+ bodywork on this which would need Gas tank, subframe, seat, plastic. I have a set of aftermarket wheels sourced so If i pickup a swingarm and forks Ill have pretty much a full roller. Minus a few small things but still pretty damn close.

Nice work on the house.. love to see those miserable old spaces transformed. You guys will be fine.:deathmeta
thanks!

I have been working on drywalling the bedroom over the last week. I need to make an update on it. I found a few interesting things well tearing it apart.

In other news I ordered graphics for the KTM. I had been thinking about running Gas Gas plastics. Came across this site and spent a ton of time making my own design and then I felt I had to buy it because I had so much time into it. So planning on ordering Subframe, gas tank, seat, and plastics in the next couple weeks. The cool thing about the Gas Gas stuff is most of it is same as KTM. So I only need Gas Gas tank and shrouds technically. I can pick up a KTM factory seat like I have now to keep the Factory team look that I love.

Screen Shot 2021-11-30 at 9.16.21 PM.png

I based these off the factory team graphics but made them fit the Gas Gas shrouds and ofcourse added Burns in there. Didnt get 87 on there. Ill prob end up running 887 but im not sure. Need to get my AMA license so might just run my license #. Left numbers blank for now so I can do that later.

Look what showed up!

20211205_121615~2.jpg

Ignore my jank workbench. I need to get some wood to make one still. this little piece works for now though lol.

Got my parts stripped off the 150

20211205_125700~2.jpg

And got everything I could so far swapped onto the new frame

Luxon/ N2Dirt Knuckle, Luxon Adjustable linkage, Luxon Lightweight bearing race, Ohlins TTX Shock, and Titanium hardware.

20211205_125553~2.jpg

20211205_125559~2.jpg

Swingarm is suppose to be here tomorrow. Gas Gas shrouds, fuel tanks, and subframe are all ordered and should be here later this week as well!

Now onto the guns.

So I have been fixing little issue after issue on the pistols and we finally got it shooting very very well. A new kinda major issue has arrived though.

20211203_075947.jpg

The glock polymer frames move a whole lot well the gun is firing. Our aluminum frame is much stiffer. The issue that has arrived with that is when the mag is empty and the slide stop lever gets pushed up to lock the slide back. There is nothing to give a little to absord that impact on the slide and its causing slides to crack. At first we thought it was only on some cheap aftermarket slides we used but now it happened to the genuine Glock slide too. So I am trying to figure out a way to get a bushing or something in there to help absorb some of the energy.

Besides that I have another project I am working on in "secret".

In my oppinion their whole brand image is super band and lame. Pretty much everyone agrees with me on that too. Getting them to do rebranding is hard but since I have been there for 6 months they have changed their mind a lot.

I have learned that if you have an idea to be able to show someone that actual idea physically and not just a drawing on the computer makes a big difference. So I am working on A new lower design that fits the design language of the Pistol line. Here is first rough proto I started on yesterday. I tried to get alot of the angular aspects of it and also added a little bit of the dimaond texture in too. I wasn't sure how it would play out but I am stoked on how it came out. I really had low hopes for it. So now to make one that Is more complete so I can have it cerakoted and all assembled to put together in a pitch to them.

20211204_150207.jpg

The bottom of the trigger pocket got cut off due to material size but for the pitch to give them an idea it will work.

20211204_150211.jpg

20211204_150217.jpg

My next idea I want to include in this pitch is a pocket knife. I know its not a gun, but I feel as though it would fit in with the brand very well. If I can make it match the language of the guns and then we cerakote them in the same colors. I feel like we could have a winner. I have the design in my head so I am just about to open up Fusion and start the cad on it.

Lastly is a new website. This is what I am working on right now. Im not happy with it but gives you an idea of what Im trying to go for.

Screen Shot 2021-12-05 at 5.57.26 PM.png

So this is my secret project. We have already talked a lot about rebranding with a new site and some small chages to the AR stuff. But I want to get all this done so I can show it to them in person and they can hold them in their hands when I pitch it rather then pics on the computer.

I have a metric **** ton of work stuff to update on here but that will come at another time. Working 12s almost every day right now trying to get ready for shot show in a month.

Something a little less stressful though is motorcycles. I got the subframe, tank, plastics, and swing arm in and mocked up.

20211212_150308.jpg

Im so excited for this thing. Im waiting for airbox plastics to come in hopefully next week. Friday these guys are suppose to arrive.

NWS4100ORBK-OR-BK_11_960x.jpg

I need to order a bunch of hardware, hopefully all titanium if I can swing it. Seat will probably get ordered here real soon and forks are also next on the list. Im running the ohlins cartridges on the 150 right now. Its the same cartidge in both legs. I want to run air forks on this bike but I would also love to stick with Ohlins. There is a company called Coppersmith who replaces the cartidge in the damper side of the airforks with an Ohlins cartidge and then they do some revalving. The reviews are very good on them so I think that is what I want to do.

I know I already ordered graphics for this but after coming across the livery that KTM used on the Moto2 bikes a couple years ago I think Im gonna be ordering new graphics lol

Just look at this beauty though, can you blame me?

267353_Moto2_72_Bezzecchi_Red_Bull_KTM_Tech3-568.jpg

Im also looking at a storage unit to store all my bikes in and give me a little space to work on them. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I will find one that will let me work in it and I can start getting stuff moved over.

Well a lot has happened since the last post.

Spent our 4th anniversary out west doing the same trip as we did on our honeymoon.

Snowboarding at Big Sky was amazing

20220103_120602.jpg

Snowmobiling in west yellowstone is so much fun. Had about a foot of fresh powder on the second day with the sleds

IMG_20220105_170110_656.jpg

I spent last week in Las Vegas at Shot Show where we unveiled the pistols for the first time

20220119_172148~2.jpg

20220119_172152~2.jpg

20220119_172202~2.jpg

20220119_172206~2.jpg

I also decided to keep the 150. I couldn't bring myself to actually get rid of it. So we will continue with the build and like the R6 we will see how much weight off it we can drop. Sub 180lbs is very capable with these.

Picked up a smart carb for it and a bunch of Ti bolts from Race Tech Titanium

IMG_20220115_162046_608.jpg

Here is a mock up of how it will all look

20220123_161448~2.jpg

20220123_161251.jpg

In the pic I have an 85sx front fender. Its a 1/4lb lighter then the big bikes front fender. I have a blue Husky TC85 front fender coming that I think might weigh even less but I also think the blue will look good. I like the idea of most of bike being blue and then alot of small orange bits. The new wheels with orange hubs and nips and the Luxon Orange billet clamps should pop pretty well I think. Also have a Pro Circuit Ti-2 pipe coming and a 85sx front plate to match the fender.

It's always a treat opening up this thread. The 85 fender looks awesome. It's crazy how much a small change can make a difference. I use a 1991 kdx200 for woods riding, and put on a 2005 kx250 front fender and it made a huge difference in appearance.

Keep us informed, I'll happily pick one up and maybe more for research purposes.

Haha you got it! We will have lots of colors available and like pokemon you gotta get them all! Also will have 4 models, a G19, G19X, G19 Long Slide, and a G17. A plastic version is also in the works as Im talking with some mold companies and we are looking at doing versions for Sig P320 and P365 next aswell.

Something else we are working on is a bunch of new laser designs. We now have our own cerakote shop and after a meeting with the President of cerakote last week at Shot Show we purchased this....

Along with that A new laser is in the works. We talked extensively to a company at Show Show and I had another meeting last night. Waiting on final quotes to come back and we should be putting in an order so we can take some designs to the next level. This is one of the first ones we are working on. Not gonna appeal to many but we are trying to take the cerakote and laser stuff to the next level and are working on quite a few different options.

I appreciate that haha. I agree its wild how a modern front fender on an older bike can make it look way more up to date.

Im kinda trying to get rid of all the orange plastics on my bike and then just have some orange bling parts. I have the orange triple trees coming and the new wheels with orange hubs that should look good. So I picked up a TC85 Blue front fender. I dig how well the color matches. Have white fork guards coming today and need to order hand guards still. I want some carbon fork guards as they drop close to a 1/4lb but have been out of stock for awhile.

White forks guards came in. Took off hand guards to see how no orange would look. Think i will go with white ones. Also got the carbon front disc cover on. The ti2 silencer was back ordered months so i got a scalvini all carbon one instead. Should be here tomorrow.

Bike is looking great! I am a big fan of ultra-lightweight dirtbikes - the 150 seems like the best modern option. I've got an 88 KDX200 in pieces I need to put back together one of these years

I agree!
I love reading through build threads of guys who go crazy dropping every ounce they can.
Make a build thread for you kdx when you start getting it back together!

I got a set of WP AER fork cartidges and lugs on the way. They will drop 4lbs over my current coil cartidges. Going to have them revalved by kreft I think.

That build thread will probably kick off in a decade or so...

I really like the AER forks. We've got a 2019 350XC-F at work with the AER forks and I was really impressed with how it handled our fairly rough PNW trails.

I bought some 85 SX forks for my KDX; not the AER version unfortunately, but a whole lot more affordable. Will need to design and machine some custom triple clamps for it to fit them.

It's kind of funny that in the pedal biking world weight is on everyone's mind and there are tons of companies pushing the limits on lightweight parts, but as soon as you add an engine everyone just kind of accepts that a dirtbike should weigh 250+ lbs. It's interesting reading about the 165 lb pro mx bikes of the 70's before they instituted minimum weight requirements - I wonder where the industry would be today if they hadn't done that.

I've got some time on my dads 250sx-f with AER forks redone by Kreft. He actually hates them because they misheard him and set them up for sand whoops. Now in michigan any public trail is all sand whoops but he likes his forks super plush as we ride a lot of private trails that are very technical. So he hated how stiff they were but I had an absolute riot. I felt like bubba out there just blitzing whoops. Even on the tech stuff I was happy with them, albeit they were stiff but not that bad in my oppinion. I would let a few psi out of the forks I think. So they are fixing his for him since they didn't set them up right but I think I will just have them do exactly how his were setup for me.

Custom triple clamps always get my heart racing haha. One day I will get to making my own for the dirt bikes but for now its hard to be what Luxon has out there.

I wholeheartedly agree! Almost anytime I mention dropping weight on my dirt bike people go crazy about how its not worth it and I should just be a better rider. I mentioned it in a facebook post and people were going crazy. I literally had to say I never claimed it would make me faster I just am having fun building a bike to like 10 people. I wish the AMA would drop the minimum weight rule and let in bigger 2 strokes. It will never happen but hey a man can dream right?

I did get my scalvini silenver in

Very very well built part. Using the bathroom scale which isnt very accurate it looks like its about 1lb lighter then the FMF I had before. I plan on chopping a couple inches off this to get the weight down some more. My buddy is also wanting to make a new titanium core and pipe for it too so if we end up finding time to do that it would bring a few more ounces off it.

Another thing I have been wanting to do is new head stays. Every aftermarket one states they are only for 2019+ 125/150s but the mounts look identical besides the pipe mount on the right side. I found a set of OEM ones for cheap on ebay to see if they fit.

Fit like a glove. Now to pick up some CMT carbon ones!

Started putting all the old parts on the 250 frame. Need to keep my eye out for a motor now at sompoint and I can build up a 250. I would love to see how light I could build a 250f but that will be a project to do once the R6 is running and able to do track days.
