Turned this roll of rubber sheet into drawer liners.

I ordered 1/16” black neoprene rubber sheet for the 56” Lista I refurbed last year, it’s more than regular drawer liner, but I really like how the rubber works.
f973cd63d090f20de49afd8a2d0896dd.jpg
It cost a little over $100 for this 8 drawer box. This will become my main hand tool box.

Here’s a 22” wide Lista I’m going to use as a mobile cart. I just couldn’t quite pull the trigger on a regular mobile cart, as most have a lid and I like the top surface to use and still be able to get to the tools.

I have one of those carts, but mine doesn’t have that many drawers, wish it did.

It's not a bad configuration of drawers for using to keep basic tools in and to follow me around shop.

I'm doing a lot of work on stuff under my porch roof and this will be great to keep the most used tools right there. Also, I have a recess in the back of the shop that the platform lift will go in and wheeling this cart back there will be sweet.

My main handtool box has proven to be in the best spot where it been for the last couple years.

This Lista is 22" wide on rolls around nice.

It took me a few nights but I finally made it to the end. The way things are going with acquisitions and construction, is a northward migration still in the cards?

Not right now, the KY property is for sale. We'll move northward eventually, just have to see where things level out.

Going to stay here for a while, done to much work on the place to leave now.

I can’t pass up that type of stuff either, but sometimes it hurts later.

Like I told my wife years ago when she was commenting about all the steel I had stashed and at the time we were considering moving, I told her to look at it like it is a bank, I can load it up and take to scrap yard and return with cash in a days time.

I’ve greatly reduced what I had, there’s always more though.

Hey look, I’m actually working IN the shop today.
Pulled table saw out to rip two 1X6”s down for my upcoming front door replacement. Didn’t even take that long, including removing the couple cans of spray someone put there.
9b86a16036d6cf79e442c61bdf0f87ae.jpg
This is sorta kinda working the way I’m intending with my layout, just need to get a few other cabs in their final place.

I’m sizing up a couple 1X6s that will be fillers between a single door frame and two side lites. This gets me to shimming tolerance to the existing opening.
The door will be centered between the two side lites, I’ve decided I wanted some iron to help anchor the center area.

I’m using 4 Simpson angle brackets that will be recessed into the 1X6, a couple tapcons will anchor each bracket to floor and tie-beam. I’ll then run screws through bracket into the frame and a couple longer screws through both frames and bracket.

0f3aed1a5c9d90bae9279c172267716f.jpg
I’ve recessed s little more to allow for trimming the spacers.

Back to working on things for the shop.

I cut the welds that were holding the safety cabinet to the 6”x12” fork tubes.
9edfb14c637119914da59766ccf691a9.jpg
Off with the tubes, now it probably weighs a 100 lbs less .
53584fa30f22fb9754f4ecc1ebfb60f0.jpg

The bottoms of the cabs are pretty rusted where it sat on tubes and welding, so a angle frame is in order. I’ll mount some casters to the frame and it will then be Cbacres shop compliant.

The one door hit the frame when closing, soon as I had it off and on the ground, both doors closed perfect.

I’m getting this done so, one, it’s out of the way, two, it’ll free up a couple draws and some 5 gallon cans off the floor.

Thank for stopping by.

Man, I wish I had those 6x12 pieces, those would be great for a forklift project or two. I keep my eyes peeled for stuff like that, but this is a bit far for a road trip. ;)

Looking good, nice to be able to use the shop tools without tripping over things, someday I will be able to do that too.

I’m only tripping part of the time.:lol_hitti

At work, we’ve gone through 100s of feet of the tube, as everything is moved by loaders with the wider forks.

If I keep up this pace, I’ll be in good shape before I know it.

I’ve been working on the time bank reserve, aka do a project on the house so I can have guilt free time in the shop.

Finally tore into replacing the front door to the house. I’ve been prepping for it but still hit some snags. Removed old door frame and discovered there was 2x4 bucks on top of the anticipated 1x6 buck.
e863dc87fcfea08a8c0613dc872d3db2.jpg
So these needed updated anchoring with tapcons. Back in the day, the bucks were attached with cut nails. I set 8- 1/4x4” tapcons on each side.
8982de413c24fb69e7950961fae4c3fb.jpg
The door installation calls for tapcons or screws every 8-1/2”, this is to meet the hurricane engineering.
Set the door frame, the 1x6” are spacers as new assembly is a little smaller than the old one. I added brackets due to door being in the middle of two sidelites and wanted some firm anchoring.

It’s was a long day, still need to shim each screw location and finish the screws, som foam and trim and caulking.

This is impact glass, so won’t have to cover with shutters when the next hurricane comes around.

It doesn't matter how much time you build up in your reserve account because one look or one word can erase it all and make you fell guilty as hell. I have just learned to ignore the guilt.

Looking at the before and after pictures, all you needed was a fresh coat of light color paint. Lol. Great picture of the dogs.
I see the Club Cart makes for great tool transport and work bench. [emoji106]

The cart does come in handy for these projects. I'll have the miter saw on the back of it today.

You're right. Ignoring the guilt is just a sign of an experienced relationship.:lol_hitti

Well, spent Saturday picking up auction stuff, then headed up to Craptains and slaughtered some beers with Andrew, Shorty and Shorty’s friend Ed who tries to keep him in line.

So today I spent in the shop and my wife hasn’t said a word about the finish work on the door. Man I love her!!

Welded the roof support for my sons cart.

I need more flap disk, finer grit ones.
a5165bf425212f18fd13601a128fe555.jpg

Then I moved on to a temporary storage solution for a 3’x 5’ 1” plate that will become my new welding table.
feedc92a55f0a72ac5f101a98d7e3d5e.jpg
I’m using my engine stand that Dad and a welder in his shop built for me back in the 80s. I welding a couple of stops that will keep the plate in place. The plate will rest against the upright.

So, I used the good old stand by stick on my Precision Lincoln Tig machine.

Anyway, it’s off the ground and I can roll away to wait for me to build. I had to take plate or lose getting it.

It’ll replace my 3/4” 4’x8’ weld table I have now, it’s just too big for my shop.

Been awhile, not much to report other than some beers slaughtered.
Been working on getting my pressure cleaner going.

House project, it all started with a squeaky dryer. Pull it out and lubed the rollers and dry lubed the friction pads, but it’s old so we’re going to replace.

So, new dryers, wife said hmmm, think I’ll paint the walls while washer/dryer is out, the floor looks dingy, she didn’t ask for it to be replaced, I volunteered to do it. WTF was I thinking?

Ok, just doing vinyl loose lay over the old, get the material and then start thinking, did I use embossing leveler when I did the bathroom? So we go to breakfast, then to HD to get leveler and glue, cause I was worried the loose lay may not work under appliances. So now I’m planning on gluing over old, with the leveler.

Well, at HD, they don’t have the embossing level, and nothing that indicated it could be used over old vinyl. So, I bought this high end glue, said it sticks to anything ( it does, more later) and we go home. Once I look at old floor again, I decide the patterns will likely transfer through the new vinyl, so, Guggenheim it, I’ll just remove the old, it’s only 6’x8’, right? Just bend me over with a ungreased broom stick now.

Take water heater out, looking at supply where it comes out of wall and see it’s corroded. Ok, I’ll go back and get material to fix that after floor is in. ( try after breakfast the next day). Start to strip floor with a couple of floor scrapers, ****, it’s stuck good. I had a putty knife attachment for the saws all, it worked great........ until it broke. So I make a few more out of old blades, and later new blades, took me all day but I got it done!

IMG_9688.jpg

On to glue. The glue I bought is roll on instead of using a notched trowel. Instructions said to let tack up, then install vinyl. So, I’m letting it tack up and I took a break and read up on glue to see if I could find out more than what was on can. Found a video, it showed it being used for plank vinyl, as in strips, not sheet. F me, it just dawned on me it’s like a contact cement, sticks soon as it hits. I pre trimmed vinyl before gluing, so this was really going to be fun. I get the wife to help, her in one door, me in the other. We each needed at least one more hand each. I’m thinking how Bob H probably would of had this in already by himself!

I finally just step out onto the glued floor to get vinyl started in the right spot, ripped my shoes free of the glue, took off and wife set in garage, I’m now standing on vinyl laying the rest of the way down. It’s in place, roll with a three wheeled Formica roller. Done!!!!
IMG_9695.jpg

Found my shoes the next day, stuck together in the garage.

I didn’t go back and rent stripper cause I thought it’d take too much time. I should of sat down and read into glue more, but I was too damn busy scraping floor up. The glue does stick. Wife got some on her and lacquer thinner only thing that got it off. She hates chemical smells.

First I met daughter for breakfast and then went to HD to get supplies. Bought $294 worth of fittings, hoses, shark bites , etc, three variations of parts, this ***** was going in with no more trips to HD. I’ll be taking back a lot of stuff.

I bought shark bites cause my B tank torch wasn’t working right and even though I had another torch end, I couldn’t find it.

Cut out wall to expose pipe.

My collection of estate sale tubing cutters is paying off.

Cutting the copper in the wall was easier than I expected. A couple of the shark bite fittings and new copper, new ball valves and I’m in business.

The old gate valves barely turned and leaked. I have ball valves everywhere, it’s the only way to go.

Close up to the corroded piece.i think the ground clamp caused it.

So, next time I’m just going to keep a can of dry lube next to dryer!!!!

Let’s see, what does renting a stripper have to do with a rehab of the laundry room. Did SO promise you a stripper if the job got done in a timely manner?

Does that lift get the stripper to the top of the pole? [emoji849]

Pole mounted on platform. Lift is so I don’t get a crick in my neck, I just adjust to optimal height!:lol_hitti

Platform lift... Strippers.... Sounds like the Fab Four stopped by the CBacres ex horse barn.

Nope, see above. I promised you I’d never intrude in your domain.:lol_hitti

I think we're getting more info than we really want to know.

Mac you’re probably right. Gerard will probably be able to borrow the Fab Four from Tampa then you will see more than you want to. Lol.

Well, Gerard will have to host the Fab Four at his place, lift is only rated for 1,000 lbs and I don't won't to have to build a pole like a cell tower to support them:lol_hitti:lol_hitti
