One of are cats did something like that with a little giant folding ladder, rear leg got stuck and with the cat upside down it was freaking out. After I got him free he was my best friend for a while.

Good thing you were there, could have been much worse.

I’ve heard of cats being pretty rough to deal with when stressed, those claws!

Cats have such a short memory.

Probably forgot by time it hit the ground.

Doggie hero.

I can’t stand seeing animals suffer.

Now, there’s a couple people that I can think of that I’d left in the fence!

On another home project, at least this one involves using the shop.
We have a landscape area by the house, but the dogs like using it for their short run race track. The wife wants to redo and plant. So, she wanted some kind of fence to keep the dogs out.

She was looking at different ideas and was thinking of using hog wire panels, I came up with welding these to a pipe frame.

Picked up cattle panels as they were out of hog, the cattle ones are 4’ instead of 3’. There 16’ long and my trailer was still loaded with steel. So I made a few adjustments like this.

Here’s a idea of what I’m building. I’m using 3/4” tubing for a top and bottom rail, I need to trim panel and will weld to the tubing. It will be a L shape fence.

A little cutting and set up. I mitered cut a short piece for the corner as I didn’t want the sharpe edge from a regular 45 Miter.53724343-FC26-4AB7-9EFD-DCEB6608C5D5.jpeg

Got the fence pretty much done.
First up was to bend the wire panel, I used a scrap piece of 3/4” plate clamp to a flat bar to make my portable brake. It worked great.

Now here’s the second attempt, I bent from the wrong end.

So on to set up and welding panel to pipe frame. Lots of Vise Grips.A5BD89EB-8239-46EF-9C1B-DE5A7C520A6D.jpeg
I used 3/8” flat bar to hold panel at approximate centerline of the pipe, this worked pretty good.

Here is the main part. I need to add a mount to attach to the walls and a foot on the bottom at the corner.

All those old Vise Grips I snagged at estate sales came in handy today.

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been under the weather. I crashed when I got home Friday. No beer except for a couple when Andrew stopped by.

I picked up two Durham industrial cabinets, these are shipping damaged units. The one below is in pretty good shape except for bent casters and two missing drawers.
A6C3D037-E02D-4C3C-881D-0007EBE1D4C9.jpeg
I bought a second one for parts, mainly the two drawers.
C957C7F0-8DBE-4615-B2B0-3F16EE69E4A0.jpeg
You’d think they would ship without the casters mounted, but the second one is pretty bent up.

Im going to use to set a machinist chest and a intermediate cab on this and it’ll become a cart fir my mill and lathe operations.

A276B5FB-087E-4AB0-8A9C-78C94161D62F.jpegThese cabs are rated for 2,000 lbs, but I’m not so sure about the casters. I have some 4” casters I’m going to replace with. I like my stuff to roll easy around the shop.

Those casters may be rated for 500 pounds, but they sure wouldn't hold that much and roll around on a "normal" (read uneven and cracked) garage floor. Those look like the ones on my rubbermaid carts.

Lots going on there CB... good for you. Those original casters on the Durham carts look a little wimpy... not surprised they are bent. I know replacing them is not a problem for you, of course!

I had a problem with some inserted images coming in rotated yesterday and I ended up opening them in MS-Paint and saving them, and that solved it. They opened in MS-Paint properly oriented and all I did was open and save, nothing else, so that must have changed something inside the file. Anyway, as I was inserting them in GJ the second time, I remember seeing a "Rotate" option pop up momentarily, so I will have to watch closer next time. Maybe we can rotate on-the-fly now in the new forum format.

I finally made it out to the shop to do something. I’m still whipped from the COVID, but somewhat back to normal.
I swapped the casters on my new to me Durham cab, they sure used some lightweight ones. They are attached with self tapping bolts. The new casters have a different hole pattern, but the cab was punched out for multiple patterns. Ran the bolts in the new holes and hand tightened to make sure I didn’t stripped the thin plate out.1899AFBA-AB1E-4DD7-B52A-E9CCBB691C46.jpeg

The cab was missing two drawers, so bought a donor cab to get those. The slides were riveted in, a little drilling and the pneumatic pop rivet tool made fairly quick work of it.

I see Durham is now made in Mexico. At least it’s still built nice and heavy, with the exception of the casters.

Good to see you getting some QST. I imagine spending the last week feeling like a limp noodle was no fun.
Damn, I better count my Dr. Pepper casters to see if I was shorted. You’ll like them. Looking forward to get the rest of my cabs outfitted.

Looks great, is the other donor cab usable or is it scrap?
Thanks. It’ll do me good to have all the mill lathe stuff right where I’m using, mainly the mill, I had bolts, washers and all kinds of hold down stuff scattered.

The donor cab is beat up, but still too nice for scrap. I’ll straighten the lip around the top, try to straighten the door in place, it’s welded on, but I have the tools to counter that.
I‘ll recaster it too and I think I’ll set the paint can mixer on it for now.

It could also be used for the small 1” belt sanders. I got more ideas than I have time for it right now, just need to get it mobile.I love the way they roll around on good casters, so a good candidate for grinding cab to roll outside when I have a project.

Another load!
CDDE7C45-F09D-4D3A-81E1-89464F7EEF6C.jpeg

Bought me a scratch and dent flammable cabinet. I have one the same size, but the handle linkage doesn’t always catch.

4C1736D8-5549-4B6D-BB8E-BE747BBA6906.jpeg

So, now I don’t have to work on linkage, but the doors hit when closing. The cab took a hit to this hinge, kinda of expanded the double walls just enough to make doors bind. I checked out and the doors are tight and flat all the away around, so once I get the hinge area adjusted ( clamps, hammer) I should be fine. I picked up three extra shelves for this cab, it’ll be a big help getting all my spray cans that need to be in here. The keys are even inside!
C5F45798-1090-42EE-937F-45BBF09D3490.jpeg
These are self closing doors, which is a feature I really liked as I sometimes leave the door open after grabbing something out of it.
All of my lacquer thinners, acetone, brake clean, etc will reside in here, along with any extra stock of the various sprays I have.

I was trying to edit the above post, but it kept wigging out on me.
So bottom line, I have a nice shiny cab that I need to do some tweaking on and will probably need to touch up paint!
Still have to work on one, but made gains in the unit. Nobody here has ever said what we do in our shops necessarily had to make sense.

I set a record today, I worked on something I brought home with in 3 hours!
I took the door off so I could bend the corner back in shape. The hinge must of took a hit from the front, as the top hinge was pushed in just enough I had to pry on door to get off the pins. The face where the bullet hinge was attached was pushed in about a 1/4”.
Used a semi bridge clamp to rough in back to shape.
69401D4A-DF49-4014-906B-63AB3A02CB4E.jpeg

Heated the face and corner, had vise grips on hinge so I could pry out, eventually got it close, but damn is the corner racked.
5DE99A4F-25F8-453C-AD52-0A193A478B62.jpeg

Its getting close, but need to close this gap up. Measured the hinges, heated the face some more and tweaked hinge over.
231E9E76-AF73-483A-A7AE-3D0FF41430AE.jpeg
damn, pin broke, don’t know if I did or broke from shipping damage.
D3D0BD4E-AF5F-4F91-AFC1-DE212156F342.jpeg

Now I’m getting somewhere. Measured the hinge distance on damaged area and compare to the other door, about a 1/4“ off.

The other door hinge.

2E2020EE-F84D-4843-BE23-A24D09ACDD85.jpeg
Bent the door part of hinge to where it should be , now door closes pretty decent. I still need to massage this corner a little more, may have to try and raise the top or just grind opening out some and it’ll be pretty smooth.
2DCFAC2B-FA0E-4E7D-A75C-D714B214FD55.jpeg
I’ll need to make a new pin, see if I can match the yellow paint.
Im happy with how it shaped up.

Didn’t have to do too much to get it a little better tweaked. I used a c clamp to get a better perch to pry on to get that hinge out just a little more.
But first I had to contemplate a little and I needed some lube!

Set the shelves and didn’t want to waste any space. It’s close, but clearance is clearance!

Had to use some of this cause I had a Shorty incident.

Guess I need to updated, it’s only 11 years past the expiration !
Still felt good when I put it on.

Had some yellow paint that was close, touched up the bare spots.

Time to swap cabs on the caster frame, until I noticed the casters had cracks. Time to dig out another set and swap the wheels.
E90124D3-C28D-454F-9281-A6EAB35D8511.jpeg
Cleaned and lubed the replacement casters. I know if I didn’t do the swap, the orange casters would of fell apart next week.

Rigged up a lifting bar as there really no way to grab the cab and b able to set in the frame.
