Here's mine, i got it on craigslist for ~$300. Champion pump, brunner tank, GE 220V 3hp with zerk fittings. I've since replaced the ghetto SOS Pad air filter that came with it with a muffler/filter.

I'm happy...

Some nice old machines on here; this isn't mine, but it's what we use in our industrial laundry. It was bought new about 6 years ago, made in Germany. I can't emphasize how quiet the darn thing is...

and.......

I got this for the price of lunch a few days ago, to replace a junky Canadian Tire 8 gallon that lasted a couple years.

It's a Westeel Rosco. From what it says on the plate, it was built in Canada in 1976. One horse Franklin motor (115/230volt), and a twin piston pump that's good up to 120psi. The tank was changed at some point in it's life, and it takes a good 15 minutes to pump up to max when I plugged it in. I'd guess it's about 20 gallons. I've changed the oil in it (only had 5w-30 kicking around).

It's not the nicest, but it was made here, every piece of it, and it was cheap! Should be enough for tires, and hopefully my impact. I might take the head off and check it out. Does anyone know if repair kits or parts are available? I'm sure it was probably built by another company and rebadged by Westeel, as they basically make silos to my knowledge.

I guess that's a lot of words for a tired old little compressor, but there ya have it.

Visited my compressor a few days ago. We kind of live 12 hours by boat from each other until I get rich and can build that ****** garage in my wet dreams :(

Compressor is an italian Dari from the seventies. Forgot to check the plate but it's about 4 hp motor and 400 litres/min, 380 v 3 phase and something like 150 litres tank. Pumps well and hold pressure for weeks. Bought it from a friend 4 years ago for 2000 SEK (circa 300$) He had two compressors, and to my judgement kept a cheap Biltema unit, while mine is premium, though older. Biltema is a swedish cheapo car parts and tool store. He's an honest man, so I cant think he ripped me off. Haven't used the compressor much but so far no issues.

Here's my old beast. 1949 Devilbiss tank with a Saylor-Beall pump. Belt changes are a breeze since the mount is adjustable and the weight of the motor tensions the belt. My grandfathers creation. We have 4 other compressors scattered through different buildings.
2 Curtis 5hp 80 gallon compressors. Horizontal/3P, Vertical/1P
1 IR 3hp 60 gallon
Coleman 3hp that I cut the legs off and welded back on in the horizontal position.

My collection... :)

First one is a Quincy 210 w/1.5HP motor at the house.
Second is a Craftsman 60 gallon in the shop.
Third is a portable 22 gal sandborn, was my grandfathers.
Fourth is a 15 gal CH oil-less... noisy as heck but it gets the job done.
Last is a 15HP / 120 Gal at my friend's machine shop.

Hi Everyone!
I spent the day working on the compressor project, and was able to get the compressor moved off of the shipping pallet, and onto my pallet. I also finished up the power run and disconnect switch. I will be finishing the panel tie-in tomorrow and plan to have it running. I am still up in the "air" about what to purchase for my regulator and water separator. I was at TP in Canfield on Friday, and at this point leaning toward the water separator/regulator piping kit - http://www.tptools.com/p/98,114_Water-Separator-and-Regulator-Piping-Kit.html With this TP system, I can be rolling for under 120 bucks. I did see the Rapid Air system also.

I personally would do the same style with 3/4" pipe from a local store. Just purchase the filter regulator separate. But I'm sure you would be fine with the included 1/2" too. Would anyone notice any difference? Probably not, but it just makes me feel better.

The filter/regulator and braket that comes in the package sells for around $105,
and they are selling the everything for $120 - I dont think that I can get all of that pipe, fittings, and valves for under 20 bucks. I think for my needs that the 1/2 will work ok...

You definitely need to watch HD and Lowes on pricing - I needed 20ft of 10/3 romex on Saturday - they wanted almost $1.80/ft. I called a electrical supply house, and they had it cut and ready for me to pickup for $1.05/ft!

Thanks
Joe S.

Here's mine. Have had it approx 8 years. Doesn't see a lot of use but when I need it, it always works flawlessly.

Think that this would look great in my garage, and the price is right but it's just too far away. Hope to see it on this site sometime in the future, fully restored and ready for years of service.

Vintage Craftsman Compressor - $50 (Oxford)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: 2012-07-20, 8:52PM EDT

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a vintage Craftsman compressor. Works fine. Only goes to about 60-65 psi. Is on wheels but one's broken. Nice quiet little compressor for the garage. The tank is approx 10 gal (12" dia x 24" long)

Email or call 248-969-2525 and press 5 at the voice menu.

Thanks for looking!

That would look really cool if you could polish the pump to a shine... Then maybe pain red in the fin recesses & craftsman lettering...

Anyone recognize this 2-stage compressor? Tank says Quincy. Not sure what the pump is. Found old ads with a similar looking tank from 1929 (but compressor is different).

Wow, that is an OLD Quincy, you just can tell from the style of logo, motor, and such. The pump kind of has a quincy look to it, but it probably pre-dates any of the models I've seen!

Unless you are a collector of antique compressors, I would probably stay away from it if you are looking for a serious daily use compressor.

The pump was manufactured by the United States Air Compressor Company. I recently rebuilt one. Parts and specs are still available through Collins Equipment.

Nothing fancy/vintage here.

An Italian 50L with 265L/h pump, on the attic above the garage.
It is a abac (fabricators name) but also sold as Stanley in yellow. and Mecafer in red.

My first compressor i bought. Good enough for blowing tires, and my impact wrench. But when i bought the sandblaster it was to weak..
Then i upgraded to the Brown.

Brown 100L tank with 400L/h pump. in the barn.

Due to the quick response on my other post, I decided to pass on that old Quincy (with the US Air pump). My awesome wife then looked through some estate sale ads and found me a great compressor. It's a 1979 Campbell Hausfeld, 5HP, 2-stage, 80 gal. They still sell almost the exact model today for $1900. I stole it from the original owner for $450.

Had about 1/8" of caked paint and grind dust on it. Looks brand new after I power washed it.

First photo was from the estate sale ad. The following photos are after it's cleaned.

For 25 years all I had was a 30 gallon Black Max. It has been great, but not enough air. The new shop warranted a new compressor. I love it!!

Wow!
Thanks for posting that link! Thats incredible that they still have parts for these.

I have a 1956 US Air compressor that Ive been planning on rebuilding this winter.
The regulator/pressure knock off switch has been acting up, so I havent been running it.

I have the original Peerless 5HP motor for it as well, but the brushes are shot.
Actually non-existant... I was hoping to find them or another peerless motor.

Just picked up this antique Pittsburgh unit said to be a high pressure compressor. The motor surely isnt the right one but I can't find diddly about it. I just want it as a project to restore so if anyone knows anything about these, let's hear it.

Thanks

No compressor for now, but I scored this tank at the scrapyard today. 120 gallon, 300 psi, 3/8" wall thickness, galvanized inside and out. Looks brand new inside!

Will probably install the Saylor-Beall 707 pump I'm currently rebuilding, and a 10hp motor.

Have a quick question and thought this might be best spot for prompt response.

Found this Campbell Hausfeld compressor on craigslist but having trouble finding specs on it. The guy selling it says he got it as part of an estate sale and knows nothing about it.

Campbell Hausefeld 7.5 hp compressor with 80 gallon tank for $650.

Anyone know the CFM/pressure and other specs for it? Thanks.

Couldn't find that exact model either, I think in recent years CH moved *most* of the 7.5HP models to the gray tanks (commercial line) with a different pump. I did see they have a 5HP model with that same pump. Not uncommon to use the same pump for two HP sizes, just run at different RPMs. If you can get the model number off the front then you can probably find complete specs for it. However being a 7.5HP you know it will be in the 23-26 CFM @ 175 PSI range. It's a modern pump style so you can also get replacement parts for it if you need them.

Nice looking compressor! I notice that it says "Extreme Duty" on it.
I wonder if this is the same thing I found here on Amazon???

Thanks guys for the info. I'm taking a look at it in the morning and will hopefully be able to get some more info off of it. At $650 (and will try to talk him down a little once I can take a closer look) as long as the pump produces pressure I might pick it up anyway.

Nostep -

That seems like a really nice score.

I'm wondering about tank rust. Admittedly, I haven't read the whole thread; however, for those of you restoring/using older compressors....what do you do about possible tank weakness due to rust?

We use something similar to this in the natural gas industry for our test devices. Much smalled scale.
