Got mine today.

USA made, double stamped.

3 sockets missing etching.

Chrome finish is ok, but definitely nothing fancy, etching is a little crappy on some as well, but overall I'm satisfied at $1 per socket.

Got mine Friday. USA made, double stamped. Terrible packaging. Chrome finish is decent and all were etched and stamped.

Only missing one socket but have a duplicate in the same size that's 6pt when it's supposed to be 12pt.

Just got mine. USA made. Missing two 12pt sockets, ending up having duplicates of the matching 6pt sockets. Packaging was terrible, carton was open apon arrival. I had no idea craftsman doesn't have 12pt 1/4" drive metric sockets.

My set had two sockets that were not etched, one not stamped with the part number, one missing and the chrome on the 36mm was basically missing on 1/4 of the socket. I called the number listed on the parts sheet and they are sending out replacements. The 1/4 and 3/8 drives look decent. The larger 1/2 drive have some spotting in the chrome. For under $260 shipped and an additional $10 a month in points for a year, I'd say it was a very good deal.

Still going through these, I've been very happy so far. I will admit the plating does seem to be a bit inconsistent color wise, but not enough to complain about. So far 1 of the etched markings seems messed up enough that I may work on a replacement.

I came to post that I'm using the harbor freight plastic socket rails, and in the end it seems I'll need 11 packs of them. The issue is the 1/2" drive sockets- there's a lot of them and each rail pack only has (12) 1/2" pegs.

Plastic HF Rails:

Those HF rails **** ***, especially on the heavier 1/2" drive stuff. They are too flimsy and the holder tabs will eventually snap and break.

I agree with hootbro, unless they're sparingly used.. I have a bunch of extra spark plug sockets so I put those on a rail together to keep em out of the way. I'd say just invest in some socket trays, HF's fake hansens seem to work out alright for the most part.

How many of the sae and how many metric sets specifically? Harbor freight is running the 20% of your entire purchase coupon this weekend.

Hootbro I have those rails, I have them screwed on 1/4 plywood. Had them 6 months, and they are working out just fine.

I used the kobalt socket trays, took two sets of sad, and two sets of metric, for a total cost of $20. This does not include around 15-20 sockets that were either too large or too small for the trays, as well as the 8 point sockets.

............

That's great if they are on static display in a tool box. For the rest of the real world that likes to grab the whole rail filled with sockets and take to job at hand, those rails and clips are flimsy and break at an abnormally high rate.

Compare them to the Craftsman or Kobalt (Taiwan) rails, and the lack of quality with the HF rails becomes readily apparent.

Not only are the rails flimsy, but the plastic is stiff and likes to break. I had several sockets that didn't want to let go of the studs, and I ended up breaking the clips and had to punch the stud out of the socket. It was a real PITA.

I replaced all of them that I had with the Craftsman version (with a few shorter Wright-branded ones mixed in). I used them as fillers for coupons or with free SYWR points, and probably didn't pay any more than I did for the HF ones. I'm far happier with them!

Laser etching last long for you all? I've had some from different brand and the etching became unreadable

I like the similar Sears version of those rails. I am using them for many of my sockets and they are working fine. You can add pegs to them too although the store only stocks a couple baggies they can be ordered online for store pickup (and I have, although I need some more.) Downside is they cost 3x what the HF ones to, but I feel more confident in them. I think I may even like them better than the metal Snap-On ones that I also have (heresy?)

Your right on that one Hootbro, they will snap if you pick up a rail by itself. What I really wanted to buy was the Kolbalt Trays

but at 24.97 each I would need 3 maybe four of them, not worth 100 bucks for four in my opinion.

Well, I bought mine just after Christmas and it was all USA made. All the sockets were in the kit (I printed off a checklist) and only 2 need exchanged. One the chrome is thin, and the other has a sharp edge. All the rest are fine. You're not going to beat that set for the price.

All told very happy.

Where did you find the checklist? The website is not the easiest to navigate.
Thanks!

My set arrived yesterday. Inventoried all of it and no missing sockets, but one was a six point and should have been a twelve point and the other was vice versa. All the sockets were in pretty good shape, some were scratched just from being packed loose in bags. Nothing I am worried about though, this is the nicest these will ever look in my toolbox. The nice thing to see though was that all of the sockets were stamped "made in USA" and all were stamped and etched. No chipping chrome, and no rust.

It's amazing to see all these sockets when you get them all organized. This is a **** load of sockets. This is exactly what I was looking for to replace my patchwork, mismatched, and missing socket collection that I have right now. They are not as pretty as truck brand set, but I think a DIY'r or a professional would be happy with this set. I would know, I have been both.

Hope this helps anyone else looking to pull the trigger on this set. After coupons I ended up paying $304 with free shipping.

Got mine last Friday, 100% made in USA, nothing missing, a few sockets were not super well finished on the inside but nothing a little grease won't protect. I ended up using a full Hansen SAE/Metric 6 pc set socket set from amazon for $65 plus one SAE and one Metric socket holder 3 pc set from Lowes on clearance for $2.99 each. I put the 12pt stuff on the lowes holders as they hold socket face up and make it easy to ID the 12pt stuff. I put the 8pt stuff on a standard socket tree as I had a pile of them laying around.

Got the set last week as well...nothing missing and as others have confirmed, all USA made. Only issue was one 6pt was supposed to be a 12 and vise versa with one other. Bought 2 each of the Lowes 3 piece sets and they stored nicely with the exception of the few bigger sockets i.e. - 28mm and up.

Out of stock :(

Sometimes that happens...check the ultimate socket set that includes the extensions. For whatever odd reason (ie Sears in general) they have one but not the other at times. I think it's 311 pcs.
