In that last pic are those two shelves from IKEA? I just noticed that. I have the same one as the taller one stuffed in a storage room at my place that i've had for nearly 20 years, also painted black. Those are sooo useful.

Good eye! Yep all of the wooden shelving is the GORM from Ikea. The workbench and fish tank stand are built from regular 2x4's.

Great shop dog. Wish mine didn't have to only lay down on a super soft surface lol..

He sleeps on our bed at night - sleeps in his bed during the day - and will only occassionally decide he'd like a cool floor to lay on :) Haha

Great looking garage you have Sir! Was wondering about the floors I have been thinking about doing something like that on mine, but I spill gas and oil as well as use a plasma cutter in my garage a lot. Do you thing the coating holds up to spills well?

Thanks! Gas and Oil is no problem. Plasma cutting on the other hand - I'm not sure about that as I have zero experience. Maybe someone else can offer some insight? :dunno:

I, personally, would leave the floor like it is...

The fish would get migraines from a checkered race-deck surface...

And, and oscar with a headache is an UNHAPPY oscar...:mad::mad:

Really nice space...

Ordered Racedeck yesterday - same design as dubber's & rick's.

I've also done all new electrical in the garage (added 8 120v outlets, 1 240v for new ceiling heater, 6 new 6-inch recessed lights, new light gang for shop lights) and a got rid of all the ikea shelving (replaced with Craftsman).

Yesterday I installed an insulation kit on the garage door (ordered from home depot). Turned out great.

TV in the garage changed my life. I thought a radio was good enough, but it's great having some DIY network on while doing misc projects on Saturday morning. :) Highly recommended!

Spent a lot of time painting this weekend. I added some gray color to the walls to go with the gray in the racedeck.

I also painted the parts of the garage door white to make it look a bit cleaner since the insulation was installed.

Just got the tracking info from Racedeck - flooring will be here Friday! Woot woot.

I'm curious if I'll need to put black landscape fabric down (thinking I might be able to see too much of my glossy tan epoxy through the freeflow).

Congrats! Sounds like with your application it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Racedeck is here! This is better than Christmas!

I laid out a couple tiles to see how the floor underneath looks (or if I should indeed get that synthetic fabric). It actually looks pretty good as is. The gloss from the epoxy really shines through more than the actual tan color, so it just looks "wet" underneath the tiles.

I think I'll skip the fabric (at least for now - I can always pull the floor up and add it later).

Also, I'm not going to move my fish tank (not sure the free flow can handle the weight), so I'll cut tiles around the tank which is going to be a pain.
Should have it finished sometime tomorrow.

I thought you were kidding about the landscaping fabric! I don't see there be any reason to do such a thing. You only really see the floor beneath the Free Flow when you are looking directly down. From an angle you don't see anything but tile. Good call on going around the aquarium. I think the final look and function will blow your mind.

Haha oh no I was serious! I initially thought I'd see too much tan through the floor - but you're right - the final look is quite the opposite. Finished the main floor as of now - took all of an hour - and tomorrow morning I'll do all the trim work and move my cabinets/workbench etc.

How did you add the insulation to your garage door? Did you glue it on? Thanks.

No glue necessary. It's a snug fit. The first few panels of the insulation kit were more difficult than I thought it'd be, but then I got the hang of it. Watch "Matador Atlas Garage Insulation" how-to video. Don't buy that kit though - Buy the one from Home Depot http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbrande...e-Garage-Door-Insulation-Kit-8-pcs/203630159#

It's essentially the same thing but cheaper and still free shipping! I received it two days after ordering. Keep in mind you need two kits for a 7 x 16 garage door.

Ok - I'm done :)

Turned out great. Installed 5000k CREE LED lights in the recessed cans and got 5000k fluorescent tubes to match. Also painted the garage rails/supports black.

EDIT: That last picture is before I drained the fish tank and lifted it up to get the tiles underneath. They are holding the tank fine even though I wasn't sure they would (it weighs about 750lbs).

I knew it would look fantastic, and I was right. Impressive that the Free Flow can support that tank. I bet you are spending quite a bit of time just staring at it.

Thanks Rick! I've spent most of the last 24 hrs in the garage! Haha. The neighbors came over this afternoon to watch football. The feedback was quite positive as well :) Of course they all just say "wait until you have kids and it will change". But then I show them a picture of your garage!

Haha! Yeah, my friends made the same claim prior our little guy being born. I proved them all wrong, and so will you.
