Love the color combo, that's the color I'm planning on when they finish our place later this year.

I have that IR compressor and I love it. Oh, haven't used it yet, lol,,waiting for the garage to be finished.

How do you like those red craftsman cabinets? I like those so much bc the color but haven't seen them in person and don't know how they compare to the gladiators sears sells.

Nice Panthers sign - where in the Carolinas are you?

Thanks - I'm in Charlotte too actually! Panthers sign is currently under rehab - I think the transformer died on me? It will make it back up by the time football starts again!

It's funny because I started out thinking I'd be going down a gray/black route. But the red and black slowly took over once I found a red tool chest on sale. You can't go wrong either way!

I'm pretty sure my neighbors use my compressor more than I do - I swear I have about 20 kids filling up bike tires every weekend.

That looks fantastic.

I wish we could get a big Ford ute like that in Australia.

Thanks! I like the truck :)

Great job on your garage, so clean and of course I like the colors! The LED lighting in the recessed cans looks GREAT! I also like where you mounted your retractable hose real, I think I have the same one, but mounted in a different location. I'd like to mount a retractable water house in roughly the same location you mounted your air hose real. The attic space you have is insane! So cool that you have that much storage space (and the shed out back).

I noticed in dubbers thread that you said you added 9 outlets in your garage. This is something I'm going to need to do as well. I have a triple and it has one outlet for the HVAC, one on the all in front of the middle car and two above the the ceiling. I really need more. Did you actually run the romex yourself? In your pics I saw pics of the installation of the outlets, looks nice. Did you run a separate circuit just for the lighting and are the LED's and hallogens all on the same switch?

Where have I been? I can't believe I missed this thread. Great work! I am sorry if you already covered this, but what kind of black paint did you use to paint your garage door rails and parts? They look really good. How has the paint held up to all the moving parts? Do the rails get scratched from the rollers moving? Thank you in advance.

Also meant to ask you. Where did you source your insulation panels for the garage door? And what is your impression of them now that you have had them for a bit.

I hired an electrician who spent a full 8 hrs in the garage. He ran a 240v with a new breaker. All of the recessed cans (which he also installed) are on one switch (dimmable LED bulbs). Then I have the shop lights and neon sign on another switch. The wall outlets are split between two more circuits (the compressor has it's own).

I don't have any halogen bulbs now. Every light is a dimmable PAR38 90w eqv. LED or dimmable A19 60w eqv LED (I need to update my photos to show this).

Thanks for the kind words! :) I replaced the rollers with the plastic ones (in my mind I think this helps reduce the scratching). I haven't noticed much at all. I just used a paint brush with a little can of oil-based rustoleum flat black.

I'm very happy with them.

Before I insulated, the coldest the garage got was about 40F. After I insulated the door the coldest it got was about 55 (lowest outside temp 10F). Warming the place up with a 240v heater from 55 to 70 is quite easy :)

It was also cooler this summer (~82F vs 100F outside).

Two kits for a double garage door.

Thanks man. I've been looking at those. For some reason these and the Owens Corning ones aren't available through HD in Canada. Have to do a border jump and grab them it seems if i want to go that route.

I'm basically done with this garage. Will probably be moving in a couple years and will then be looking for a two or three car with a high ceiling. The high ceiling is going to be a must for me next time as I think it adds a considerable amount of versatility (high lift garage door, high storage, etc.).

Nice! I will be looking forward to that! Great work on your garage now. Do you do all the normal maintenance, oil changes etc. on your vehicles you own now. Just wondering how everything is working out for you in a "working" garage and if you would make any changes.

Thanks! Yes I do all the normal maintenance (and I put a 2.5/1.5 leveling kit on my truck) in the garage. It's perfect for me and easy to keep clean since I don't do any welding, carpentry or grinding. I can change the oil and watch football with 7.1 surround sound at the same time. That's my ideal little piece of weekend heaven right there!

You do have to be mindful to put a horse stall mat (or similar) under the floor jack in order to not damage the tiles. It's also advised to keep all your nuts and bolts a magnetic tray (or similar) as it's easy to lose them in the floor.

Wow, what an awesome space! Love what you did with it.

Thank you for the kind words! :)

Thanks for the tips! I do some welding and griding. But, when I reach that point I plan on putting welding blankets down or pulling sections of the floor outside.

Got a Husky LED light - quite bright and it doesn't get hot like my old halogen:

While I was at the Home Depot, I realized these wooden tops (made by Husky for Husky cabinets) would absolutely fit the Craftsman. Not sure how I missed these! Now it matches my workbench.

Love the brick wall - how many levels of brick. I'd like to do in my garage where the dry wall protrudes the footing.

Can this be done by someone whose never laid brick?

Did you double up the trim, threshold piece at the door?

The garage entrance has a ~3/4" step up from the driveway. I laid black vinyl baseboard on the ground (with liquid nails) to hide 3/4" lip (like I did under the racedeck to hide the nasty gap between the concrete and the brick. The racedeck trim is on the same level as the rest of the floor.

I'll post a picture when I get home today.

Picked this up yesterday - now I need to find a place to hang it.

It's much bigger & much, much, much brighter than expected. I'm going to have to shade the lenses or something.

I will probably hook up a sequencer to it eventually (or if I get really bored, I'll hook up garage door sensors to trigger the lights as I pull into the garage).

I'm also debating whether or not to have it powdercoated black or a fresh, new yellow.

Cleaned & Painted the traffic light - also installed a cross brace between joists to hang it from & ran an electrical outlet for it.

Added more trackwall, moved my SCAG banner, and mounted my shopvac on this side because the traffic light took up too much room.

And of course "Randy" is always keeping a watchful eye...

Great looking garage! I have a working traffic light in my garage too. There are small controllers available online that will make the lights sequence like they do at an intersection.

Looks great as always. Nice updates.
You da man!

Garage looks great. I also purchased a traffic light, but found it very bright because all three lights are always on. Found a controller at:

http://www.trafficlights.com/T3ad.htm

Now it functions as intended.

Yep that is definitely on my to do list. Thanks for the link! Ideally I'd like to have three modes for it:

1) Automatic sequencer.
2) Individual switches so I can have any light(s) on/off
3) Function as a car parking assistant.

Still have to figure that one out - it'll be a rainy day project.

Enjoyed your thread. . Great space. My favorite colors :)

Thanks! Excellent taste in colors as well! ;)

It is so beautiful it brings a tear to my eye.

Haha - can you tell I'm getting bored? What should I do next?!

Purchased a Griot's random orbital buffer from Amazon. It was one of the "deals of the day" for $77.00. I've been wanting one for awhile.

I used CG v38 with Griot's black pad, followed by two coats of CG blacklight with the red pad and topped it off with CG v7 spray. Buffed everything with the Griot's microfiber pad. My truck wasn't in bad shape, but when I get to my wife's car I'll have to break out the orange pad & CG v36.

$77 for the 6"? That's a smoking deal. I prefer to pay full price for my things. Gives me a prestigious feeling.

Truck looks amazing. I like the V-series polishes by CG.

Great looking garage. I am going with the same flooring pattern as you, based on Ricks thread, and will be here Friday. I saw your thread today, and really like it. Mine will look nothing like this when done.....got to hang my yard tools on the wall....not allowed a shed.

Very nice!

:) My buddy has your same truck and is just awaiting delivery of his 2015. From what i'm told they are just starting to arrive in Canada.

Although it's oh so tempting, I'm trying to hold out another year to see if Ford introduces the 8-speed trans. A 5.0 Platinum with an 8-speed would be fantastic. I'd like to see what the (2016?) Raptor looks like too...

Thanks! Yep - 6" with the 10ft cord for $77. Now I'm upset I've been doing the truck by hand for 2 years...

I think the only thing I pay full price for is beer :D

Thanks! I totally copied Rick's floor too. He's a man of excellent taste!

I did get lucky & can keep yard tools in a shed out back (but shh don't tell my HOA). I keep the backpack blowers inside though - they are prized posessions... :)

Post pics when you are done!
