Do you carry a pocket knife?

I always carry a knife. Been carrying one for 40 years. For the last couple years my most regular carry is a Benchmade Mini Griptillian with a tanto blade. I'm a big fan of the axis lock and never thought a tanto blade was something I'd like or find useful. I was so wrong. I find it to be a very useful blade shape. I have several knives (my mini grip is my only tanto) and will change it up sometimes on the weekend depending on that days projects.

I feel naked without a knife in my pocket and have been known to turn the car around once I realize I'm partially dressed.

Always have at least one in every car....usually one in the center console and another in the tool kit. Often keep one in my attaché. Don’t carry one on my person as much except when in the backcountry. Even keep one in my KTM. In college I worked on a psych unit and a kid hung himself with a shredded bedsheet....the knot was impossible to untie and the only way we got it off was when I ran and grabbed my knife out of my backpack I kept under the nursing station desk....no one asked where I got the knife.....

I carry a knife with me everyday no matter what the day brings. Only exception that comes to mind are airports, which is occasional for me.

Currently carry a Benchmade 940, Leatherman Wave, Streamlight pen light, and a small 6" pair of Channellocks with me. Surprisingly the Channellocks get used just as much as the knife. You can remove decent sized bolts with them.

As I’m getting out of bed in the morning I’m clipping a knife to whatever I’m wearing. It’s always a Spyderco, but the Benchmade Bugout is on sale at a local store and I probably won’t be able to say no. Once you get into the habit of carrying a knife (especially a quality one) you feel naked in the event you forget it or are getting on a plane.

Every day, I had a 5" folder in 1st grade. Wonder how that would go over today... It's been a leatherman for the last ten years or so, such a great tool.

I carry a handgun. I’m not bringing a knife to a gunfight. I’ve carried since 1997, when I turned 21. I also daily carry a Fenix PD25 flashlight. I already feel like Batman with all the **** on my belt and in my pockets (wallet, keys, personal phone, work phone, pistol, flashlight), I don’t want to carry anything more.

I occasionally carry a Benchmade assisted folding knife or a Gerber multitool, but only when I specifically anticipate a need for it. My wife keeps a standard pocket knife in her purse, I have borrowed her knife many times.

One thing I find very important, I feel naked without one of my old school spyderco knives, I prefer the all stainless and half serrated, half plain edge.

Ha, word for word what I was going to say. Even the same knife. When I fly I keep checking my pocket and think I lost it. Miss the old days when I could fly with it.

I carry a Leatherman multi tool on my belt as everyday wear. I used to also have a pocket knife at the same time but only have the Leatherman these days.

I wonder how people that don't have a blade with them manage to get thru the day.

I keep a Leatherman Sidekick on my belt also, most of the time I don't even realize it is there does not poke my sides or anything when sitting down.
I liked the old Gerbers better, but I could tell it was on my side. I know that is subjective. I also have a Leatherman mini if I am not wearing a belt it is small enough I hardly realize it is in my pocket.

I always carry some kind of knife on me. Currently I have been carrying the folding razor blade holder as a knife due to the abuse I was putting knives through. I work as a landscaper and would go through a knife a year. Now I just change out the blade and am good to go. I have 6 of them.
If I dont have it on me, I feel naked. I even had one on me when we went to the Naval Academy, wound up hiding it in the bushes in the front entrance, it was still there after wards (my friend had to do the same thing a few months prior and forgot to mention to me that you can not take a knife in there)

That seems like a pretty extreme opinion.

Probably so, but as a parent I feel like if im not prepared to cut a blind cord wrapped around my child’s neck or cut a seatbelt after a crash if needed or any numerous less life threatening but still very important possible situations involving myself, others, or my child then I feel extremely unprepared and irresponsible. I’m sorry I generalized everyone in my statement. I should not have done that.

Yep. Carry one habitually and have since I was out of high school.

I carried a Ka-Bar Dozier Thorn for years, until they went out of production and I lost one. I don't like carrying a knife that I can't replace, so I retired my spare and now carry a Kershaw Leek with D2 composite blade.

I miss that old Thorn, hard to find a folding knife as handsome and elegant:

Who knows?
I always keep a Kershaw folder, a Streamlight Stylus Pro, and a Gerber EAB-Lite in my pockets.

In my car I’ve got a Buck folder, an old Camillus/KaBar, and a Fenix PD35TAC as well.

I used to carry a Gerber multi-tool everywhere I went, but it’s been retired in favor of a good selection of tools in a small toolbox for the car.

Well said, as long as you're not also apologizing for your opinion.

Some people have this belief that if your opinion doesn't parallel theirs, then you are just wrong. And that's simply just not true. All too common in our society today. We are each entitled to our opinion, and no one has to defend theirs. There's so many topics in which we all have our opinions, and I'm 100% good with that. But no one has the right to judge us, or criticize us for our opinions. THAT is the foundation of our freedoms.

Back on topic... as I said earlier, I like my Gerber multitools. About fifteen years ago, I bought about ten of them at Walmart on clearance, the week after Christmas, for twelve bucks each! I have one that I wear daily, and duplicates in each of my vehicles, one in my shop toolbox, one in my Harley saddlebag, and one I keep in the glovebox of my Polaris RZR. As for knives, I prefer my Coast DX325. I also have several of those, distributed in all the same places. Also in all those same places; a Coast LED penlight that takes two AA batteries. I believe in being prepared for whatever may be necessary. I also carry my S&W Bodyguard .380 everywhere I go, minus the airport and planes.

In addition to my love of tools I also have a fondness for made in the USA Becker knives. I’ve got quite the collection going!

You would get expelled from school instantly. I graduated in 2004 and they were really starting to crack down on things like that. I carried one every day I was in school, even though it was against the rules. Most teachers didn't care unless you were talking about it or were dumb enough to pull it out of your pocket without a good reason.

I still carry a pocket knife a CRKT Ripple, it's a nice light weight knife that you can easily forget you have on you.

A multi-tool. I've gone back to my original leatherman that I got back in high school. I've carried a few others over the years, but always seem to go back to the leatherman.

A flashlight. It comes in handy all the time working in theaters and arena. I've been carrying a BLF A6 for the past couple of years. It's hand down my favorite light, even over the much more expensive ones I own.

And of course a pen. Currently a Zebra F-701/F-402 hybrid that makes it all metal.

A lot of people think I'm crazy for carrying all that stuff everyday. Until they need to use one of them, then they're pretty happy I carry that stuff.

I graduated class of 2003, and in a moderately large inner city school. I once forgot that I had a butterfly knife on me in junior year, and had to come up with some crazy excuse to go out to my car so I could store it before gym class. I always parked across the street from school property so they couldn't nail me for having edged weapons in my car, because back then I kept one of those cheap chinese-made swords in my trunk too

I always carry. It’s such a basic tool.

It all started with the book “the hatchet”. I read it as a kid, and since I couldn’t carry a hatchet, hahaha

I met a guy a few years back that is now a friend. He never carried a knife. It was alien to him that I carried a knife. But it was alien to me that he didn’t haha. But every time we needed a knife, I would pull mine out, and say “this is why I have a knife”.

Has saved us a few dozen times.....

I have a handful of them. Have one on me when I work. I beat the hell out of them and use them as a tool. So, with that in mind, I don't have high dollar knives. Usually a Kershaw, Milwaukee, Kobalt, or the like. Nothing that I would feel bad breaking.

Always with a knife. Most days I carry a Microtech Ultratech, Inkosi, or 940. They get used pretty hard too...I broke the tip off the Ultratech and they replaced the blade free.

Most of the time i do have one in my pocket, usually just a kershaw leek, but i really feel naked if i forget my sftreamlight stylus pro pen light. I used to always carry a swiss army knife or a leatherman, but kind of fell out of that in favor of lighter weight, less bulky, slim pocket knives.

I haven't been carrying a knife for quite a while now. Although I have probably 40 or so good quality knives.

I do carry a Springfield EMP4 and a streamlight everywhere I go though.

No, never got the habit (do have several in tool boxes and bench drawers) with me I'd use it, put it down and walk off.[emoji54]

Always, a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian clipped either to the hammer loop of my Duluth Fire Hose pants (everyday wear), or to the edge of my front pocket.

I've carried the same Uncle Henry 2 3/4" 3-blade stockman for nearly 50 years. I have others but this one was given to me by my grandfather as either a birthday or xmas gift, I don't remember. To me, it's the perfect "gentlemen's" knife to carry.

I've been known to gift knives as well. Even gifted my future son-in-law a nice Case stockman just to up his manliness score, he needs it...

I carried a very early model Spyderco (the "Hunter"), half serrated, for many years until the TSA took it. Have been carrying my Spydie Stretch, with modified blade, for the past 8 or 10 years I believe. Have a fresh one in queue if I ever lose it.

Always. Usually have a leatherman or some other multi tool but always have a pocket knife currently a kershaw twin blade both blades liner lock. It has wood scales. I like my knives to look traditional. Before that knife I carried either a Buck or Case three blade trapper. I am willing to give up the third blade for locking blades.
