Hey dubber, just wanted to drop by and say I really enjoyed looking through the work you put into the single and this double. Thanks for posting it all up!

Digging the Sportwagen with Audi shoes. I almost pulled the trigger on one but returned to my blue oval roots with a Focus ST instead.

Very kind of you  I'm a diehard VW lover.....think it would be hard for me not to have at least one in the stable.

I've been MIA from this site but i do continue to reference it for solid information. Started detailing cars as a side passion project which i'm really enjoying as my garage and tool arsenal have made it a pleasurable experience.

Now that we (Canadians) are officially in our colder season I've looked to adding a couple small improvements that have been on my mind. I normally have a couple snow brushes that i leave in the garage to clear off cars on the driveway but like the rest of my space i can't stand having them just lay on the ground.

Walking through home depot looking for an easy solution lead me to an epiphany that i actually had a small wall rack leftover from my old garage. Mounted it up and it works perfectly. Really like how it can be visually hidden from sight behind the tool box. Sometimes cheap and simple solutions are the best way to go. And it still suits my palette of the rest of the garage.

I'm not sure if others share my insaneness but as you can see i have three brushes; each with their own purpose. Small cheap old wooden brush is perfect for dealing with road muck built up in the wheel wheels and under the car. Longer brush works great for dealing with roofs. Mid-sized brush is just right for windows :)

Glad to see you back. I have been thinking about taking on some details myself but I need to finish a few projects first.

Nice out of the way brush storage hidden but right near the door opening. As another living in the frozen north I can appreciate any improvement to the snow brush usage. And I have my collection of shapes and sizes as well.

Welcome back! I’m hoping as my boys continue to get older, I’ll have a little more free time to dedicate to detailing other peoples vehicles as soon as this coming Spring. But that remains to be seen.

Nice work Dubber!!! But...what's a snow brush?

Haha...just not something we need in Florida...

Lucky you , hopefully one day......

Glad to see you back. I have been thinking about taking on some details myself but I need to finish a few projects first.

If you have the passion, space to do it, and interest, why not! :)

Hahaha, happy to hear i'm not crazy. Don't want to flaunt them in the garage, but do still need the organization.

That would be awesome to have a couple assistants! I had my little cousin over a couple weekends ago and he had a blast helping out.

Been a little MIA from this forum for awhile, but thanks to Patrickg20 checking to see if i still had a pulse :)

This passed weekend i did change a couple things up, for this post I'll focus on one section where i have certainly made it much more useful. My cabinets were starting to burst which meant i had to get creative and find new homes for several items. Decided to remove a couple wall decoration pieces and swap for Husky Trackwall items. Put up their 8'x4' panel option.

Research: :)

In-progress:

Nice! I am always jealous of how clean your garage is. I am a clean freak, and my garage is such a mess. Multiple large projects going on at once doesn't help at all. It's driving me crazy. Yours is neat, clean, and organized. Very calming. Glad you are back and doing good!

Same wave length for sure. I'm very fortunate that my wife puts up with my compulsion. And man do i love hanging out in there.

Is the wagon gone or is the Audi a clients?

Nicely organized.

Hey, well i guess that's another update I can pass along..... Decided that it was time to let the .:R32 go to a new care taker. Just hit my four year anniversary caring for that car which has been an amazing experience. Thankfully selling it was super easy and was picked up within a couple weeks of posting by the first person who came to see it in person. The reason for the change was that i decided i wanted a car with a little more "spirit" to enjoy on a daily basis..... Enter the Audi S3. Can't say enough about my enjoyment of this car. I've wanted to get back into an Audi for a while now. I've also really wanted to get into an S car. Two birds with one stone led me to this baby. Already started making it my own during my last three weeks of ownership. The wagon remains in the fleet and is now my wife's primary vehicle.

Easy to do if you drive brand new stuff that doesn't require wrenching. :p

My R32 was 15 yrs old although it looked brand new

Woah! Welcome back :)

The slatwall looks nice.

Must have been a tough choice to let the R32 go, but congrats on the S3!

Thanks! Yea it wasn't easy but the process was quite smooth overall. My issue is that i really want to experience so many cars and budget means i have to let some go to try another.

Wow that was a gorgeous R. Hope you’re enjoying the new ride! Any more garage or car stuff to share? Planning on building the S car?

As much as I am an R fan, the new S cars are just plain great cars. Enjoy!

Completely agree. It certainly made parting with the R an easier experience.

Thanks! I started the process of modifying the S3 to make it look like my car :) Tow hook plate mount, tinted windows, in-depth cleaning, wheel spacers, air intake, OEM rubber mats, rear black badging and this weekend i tackled swapping the front grille. Couldn't believe how involving that was. Required taking the whole front end off along with the wheels.

^ Worth it! Do mine next?

Agreed, but i had a couple wanting to throw in the towel moments. Near 30 screws in various sizes and a ton of clips. As i'm going through the process i had supreme confidence remembering which goes where, and then i hit a wall hahaha. Worked out but certainly more involving than anticipated.

That looks much better dubber.
Thank you sir!

Seriously thinking about adding a Hot water line in my garage. Would love to hear suggestions or even pics of fellow GJ members set-up.

I have worked in shops with no hot water, shops with only hot water in the bathroom, and shops with hot water setup in the shop. Obviously, it's not a necessity, but it is one of those things that once you have it you wonder how you ever got along without it.

It is really nice to pull a vehicle in in the winter and spray it down with warm water to get off all the snow/ice/salt before you work on it. It is also nice to have warm water when you are wet sanding or washing a car so your hands are not freezing. And, it sure beats carrying a bucket of warm water from the bathroom.

It's not a necessity, but it sure is nice to have. Like central heat and air in the shop. I don't think you will regret it when you get it finished. Go for it!

what do you need or want the hot water for? cost will be dependent on the location of the closest hot water line, then materials and labor.

The ability to extend in garage washing sessions is my primary purpose.

Where is your water heater in relation to your garage?

My water heater is in the basement below the back wall of my garage only a few feet away.

Thanks for the info. It can certainly be looked at as a luxury item, but one i want to explore non the less.

My hot water is split off the hot supply out right off the water heater. I have a cut off valve in the house and then its run outside with its own valve and a y-splitter.

I would just run a valve into the garage and put a quick release on it so you can easily switch out hoses.

Good to see you back on the forum dubber. I remember your original single car garage thread was a big inspiration when I started working on my single car. I also took a long hiatus from posting but I've finally gotten around to getting a build thread up and running again. The S3 looks great!

The shop I worked in with hot water had separate hot and cold water lines ran with shut off valves on both. The water hose was connected to both the hot and cold water lines with a y type hose. That way you could use straight hot water, straight cold water or whatever mixture you wanted.

That is the setup we have at the firehouse. This is what I'm planning for my garage, to eliminate the "y" hose. Its a frost free faucet, They come in many configurations.

Great idea. Stupid question, any issue using my existing Gardena hose for hot as well?
