I'm starting a new thread for my 40x60x14 workshop. I own a half dozen Farmall and IH tractors, several cub cadets and 3 IH trucks. Its time to get them under cover and get organized. Below are elevations of the building.

This weekend I took the flail mower and the rototiller to the ground to get it ready for the excavator.

Tonight when I got home I set up my batten boards for the building layout. Ready for the excavator to show up on Thursday. After he removes the topsoil, going to bring in somewhere between 450-500 yds of material to get it leveled out and ease the transition between the old driveway going down to the new building.

That's going to look beautiful. Lovely green field site.
How about a few pics of your machinery too?

Very cool, I use a Super A for grass cutting and a 460 Utility w loader and 3pt for "heavier work" :) Great-sized building with lots of storage (?) Or will it be workshop upstairs?

A few pics this morning to show where the grade is going to end up. The pink ribbons on the first two stakes are the grade, the last stake there is no ribbon because the grade is above it. Going to take a lot of fill and compaction.

So the fill is in place.. It took 800 yards of fill to get it leveled out. Putting the water to it, keep compacting it for a week. Foundation to be put in the week of the 21st.

Looking nice, how deep are your footers? I think you'll be pleased with having them over a trench foundation, especially with a large building above.

Pouring the walls today. Last night we had a little ceremony and blessed the building and put a small symbol of our faith in the Northeast corner to forever guard it.

Foundation crew came back this morning and had the whole thing stripped, cleaned up and loaded in an hour. It looks awesome.

This weeks agenda: get it backfilled and compacted, lay the vapor barrier and insulation for the floor, and get the floor poured.

Now is the time to put in plumbing groundworks, water line, electric and low voltage conduit, etc, THEN prep and pour the slab..

So I think I made a pretty good score today. I picked up 6 bolt bin cabinets for $120... They are not perfect, but with some cleaning and TLC and some IH red paint, I think they will come out all right.

Back filled yesterday, received almost 6 inches of rain in 24 hours...really helped the compaction.. also shown is the floor insulation and the frost posts for the shed overhang.

Excavation Contractor finished the loam work and graveled the drive. The builder starts on Monday. Should go pretty fast now I hope.
