Thanks Buick Farmer.... The carriage doors are all pine based on a design and assembly by a member here on GJ. I'm in Maine, I only want to do this once, so yes the footings are deep to be on virgin ground...on the back side of the building there is 4ft of fill.... 800 yds total to get it leveled up.

Great looking build.
I run all case IH equipment for a living (big stuff and newer) but would love to restore some of that older red iron.
Picked up. '75 loadstar this year that needs some comestic love. Also got a Oliver 770 that needs some shop time.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the compliments. The siding is 10in pine shiplap, which I hope to finish over the winter and put either a natural finish or a greyish solid stain in the spring. I love IH...I have 4 trucks which all came from the same local dealership. I am particularly fond of the 04 and 06 series IH and Farmall tractors and the narrow frame cub cadets

It's really coming together nicely. I wish my barns looked that nice. Makes me consider a lean-to on the big barn to get stuff out of the rain.

I am at the power phase too. Received confirmation that my work order has been processed with the POCO. Now waiting on Engineer to design the line extension. He said about 4 weeks after the w/o was processed, they should have line constructed.

Keep it up!

Just so you folks don't think I fell asleep this winter.. I built a set of carriage doors off from a set that a fellow GJ member built. I finally got them installed today. And as you can see the power is finally hooked up.

Really nice job on the barn, and a very nice location. I'm about a month away from getting home and back to work on mine. Will be following along, keep up the good work. Mike

Update as of early 5/16.....two of the three overhead doors are finished and wired in. Nice to have door openers. Also upstairs in the carpenter shop started wiring in receptacles for the shop. Outside under the overhang, when the wind isnt blowing a gale, I'm putting up steel roofing for my ceiling and LED lights under each bay.

Nice shop! A couple of the builders I talked to got excited when I asked about roof pitches over 6/12, saying its gona take more time, not safe for the workers and gona cost more $$ because of that. Did you run into any of this?

I did not run into that at all. The two piece trusses were very affordable..and the roofing crew was done in 3 days from sheathing to roof cap.

I ran into that when we were building our house. It has 9/12 pitch... Some roofers did not want to work on a pitch that steep. The crew that did roof it was done in a day and a half.

With a contractor who has the right equipment it's a nice job. My guy used a telehandler with a work platform.

farmcat, that is nice! Those guys were equipped to handle that job easily. "Work smart, not hard!"

When they did my house they had extension ladders! 3' crawl space, 10' 1st floor, 9' 2nd floor, 3' knee wall in attic, 9/12 pitch and many valleys! They were like squirrels up there!

There is a distant picture of the house in my build thread. I need to start updating my build as well. Finally have power and lights should arrive this week. Lots of pictures to add to catch up!

Update your location so that everyone knows your location who are new to reading this.
As far as the roof, I watched a crew do a Barn roof a couple of days ago with a Tele-Handler also. I live in the barn and yes its roof is pretty step to!
