Re: Garage Refurb
When the subject of garage/shop security has come up before in different threads, I mentioned that I put a piece of steel behind the door trim. I took a piece of 10ga steel about 10 1/2" long and 2 1/2 inches wide, located the holes and lagged it in place.
The two screws are 2" long and go into the prehung door frame. They merely held the steel in place while I drilled and lagged the others. The lags themselves are 2 1/2" long and go into the wall framing.
Once the plate was in place, I covered it with a 1x4 pine board I used as trim. I had to locate the lag heads and countersink a few holes for them.
