Anyone know what RT location means?

'Racetrack' typically between the front checkout/service desk area and the start of the aisles. Some stores also refer to the back of the main aisles as the 'back track' or back racetrack, ie between appliances and bath there's usually room for huge displays.

Look for the cheap seasonal ****. that's in the racetrack.

My local stores don't seem to follow what I have seen in this thread. This was at .03 status and the date on the label is August, and its still $50.03 when rung up, not a penny.

Just like last year at this time Home Depot is starting to clearance the Ryobi 2 pack of 4Ah batteries for $84. This price is in store only. the website still reflects the $99 price. Keep an eye on this one because I believe it went down to $25.02 pretty quick last year.

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-18...3001rw&cm_mmc=CJ-_-6147012-_-11210757&cj=true

Ryobi
Model # P122
Internet # 204321540
Store SKU # 1000018258

Down to $89 on the website, if anyone sees them lower please let me know. I will keep an eye out on my next couple trips.

Yeah, it depends on the item and locale I think. I've found stuff at .03 status with a date of almost a year old still at the same price. Some things drop quick, some take forever, and some don't even stick to the .06/.04, .03/.02 levels.

A lot of outdoor garden stuff is still .03 and has older dates. Not sure what's taking so long. Stuff like vases and flower pots.

Was denied on an ego trimmer for a penny tonight.

I was told they had to send it back or destroy because the battery was a HAZMAT.:rolleyes:

I passed on a few of the Ryobi 40v display model trimmers. Didn't feel like putting up a fight. couldnt find the chargers, and I don't know what the status of the installed batteries are. They're completely dead, and I don't know if they can be revived or if they're actually empty display batteries.

None of the stores put up a fight when I asked to buy the display and two of them just gave it to me for free. At one store where they gave me the display model this past weekend I was in there tonight and saw the box for the display unit up in the rafters and asked an employee to check to see if the battery charger was in there. He pulled down the box and sure enough the charger was in the box along with another trimmer. I asked him if I could have the charger and the trimmer and he said "sure, that's better than sending it to the landfill". Lately it sure seems like more stores in my area have been willing to sell or give away penny items without putting up a fight than ever before. Maybe some of them have been getting the memos from corporate?

Nothing for a penny but I scored a few deals at HD tonight

I hunted 8 isle's front to back and top to bottom for the Sta-Kool but it was no where to be seen... Kinda hard to hide 10 five gallon buckets? I'm not a big fan of Siliconized Acrylic and didn't really need it so gave up.

Found 6 of the Husky Mobile Organizers in over head, Hardware guy said he'd take one for that price before I found it. I loaded up 5 and left the other for him. 2 minutes later he found 6 more in over head and brought it up to the cash register for me as I was checking out :)

I was only able to find one of the LED bulbs, the square stem valve keys will come in handy on commercial jobs, and I have a matching Washing machine hook up in my rental thats leaking a little. I have yet to look into rebuilding it but I can always return it if I can find a cheaper fix.

Fiskars fixed blade limb saws are $5.03, down from $21, at the Fairmont store in Houston. I got one for my brother, who lost his last one in a car fire, and one for me, even though I have no intention of trimming my own trees.

The saw blade probably walked, I'm always skeptical of inventory lower than like 4. Those pretty much will only be in the tile display, so not much hunting. They are there or they aren't.

Had a penny deal on a pfister shower head set. Scanned it at SCO but immediately prompted to see associate (did not scan the yellow tag, there was none). The guy said he'd go look in the faucets quick since he couldn't find the price.......5 minutes later I'm still standing there in SCO and he completely disappeared. I went and looked (it was just down from SCO) and he was gone. I finished getting everything and loaded all my stuff up in the car then came back in.........he's still not there. Waiting around for a few minutes and nothing. No idea what happened so I left.

Sorry but its lengthy.....would like some opinions on calling corporate or should I just let it go. I have spent over $2000 in the last 6 weeks at HD and have about another $5000 to go in the next 4 so really frustrated over this....

I think I found someone's honey pot, I was looking for the husky parts box because the store comp said they had 5. I found them on a top shelf with a load of other clearance - no ladder and employees standing around I had no choice but to ask someone to get them down for me, so he got them down and I spotted a schlage electronic lock. I ask him to hand it to me also and he did without scanning anything. I go to sco and scan my items sure enough .01 then register beeped on my last item and the girl comes over and starts looking at her screen and says wait what was the other items.

No problem I was done so I told her it was in the bag and I ran my cc through. She stopped my payment and said she had to call. She called and they messed around for 20 minutes not knowing what to charge me, I asked for the manager instead they called her and she said to sell it to me for $104. I said no and tried to call corporate, at this point my card was run but the transaction was on hold. Then they called the manager up there, i had been waiting about 40 minutes at this point. I actually did need the lock, and it was a matter of frustration for the hold on all my stuff. While waiting one of the cashiers told me that they can't sell the .01 items they usually just give them for free. I wasn't asking for that.

Fast forward manager comes up with attitude and asks me what the problem is. I proceeded to tell her that I had rang this up and just wanted to purchase my stuff for the price it rang up. She give me a spill about they can't sell it to me for that because the vendor changes the price and they have to send it back to vendor. I was calm and not bitchy but told her I knew that wasn't true she just tried to sell it to me for more. She told me I could call corporate tomorrow and they would tell me the same thing. I told her I would call them. The guy that got it down for me was up there with her and said it wasn't on the floor to be sold. I pointed out that it was with the tool boxes they were selling me that were also on the same shelf on the sales floor. She asked (not so nicely) what I wanted to do now and then she disappeared and then came back and said I could have it for 35.03. I said fine I will take it but I will call corporate to explain the situation. Then they kept trying to ring it up and it would only ring up .01 even under a generic skew. I snapped a pic of the screen. Finally the voided and let my purchase close and then rang it up separate. I was frustrated this process was almost an hour long, 9pm and I still had an hour drive home.

And no bashing me, I know I should have had cash but I had just stopped by because there was a wreck on I-65 and traffic was stopped so I thought I would look for some dewalt tough series boxes because someone broke into my vehicle the week before christmas and stole my nailer, saw, and my 3 Dewalt boxes. Wasn't really expecting to find anything, I usually dont.

It didn't show on the receipt they gave me but I grabbed a pic of screen.

As to Craigslists found a reseller selling Armstrong ceiling tiles that he said he paid $450 for (and would take $200) for the tiles.

When for a fact I know that those exact ceiling tiles were being cleared out at 9 cents each. Making his/her real total less than $12 (I hate the look of ceiling tiles, and wouldn't have taken them if they were for free)

Don't mind the reselling just no need to LIE about WHAT YOU PAID. Very tempted to call him/her out about it.

Was it the Pfister Ashfield shower set? I found that along with the sink faucet at a local store and they tried twice to give it to me for the online price since it doesn't come up in the store's system. They gave me the faucet since it did come up as a penny.

If the item is on the "sale floor", policy is for them to sell it to you for what it rings up as. Some stores abide and others try and weasel their way out of it.

In your case, however, for penny purposes, the overhead isn't technically the "sale floor". You don't run into this issue with items that are not a penny because employees don't care, but when the penny price shows up a red flag goes up. You likely won't get anywhere with corporate on trying to purchase a penny item that was in an overhead. You can call corporate and tell them it was on the "sale floor", but then if they put you on hold and call the manager and they say it was in an overhead you will be SOL. The line she gave you about prices changing and them having to send it back to the vendor is not a lie, but that is not the reason why they can't sell it.

What I had been told by a manager when trying to do so, he said he would give me one for the penny, but I couldn't take the 17 (of the same item). I think he was just trying to be "nice" though.

If you do call corporate, do not tell them any more than you have to or they ask. I wouldn't even mention the price. Just tell them that the store is trying to sell you an item for a different price than what it is ringing up as and leave it at that. Don't tell them where you got the item unless they ask.

This is just my experience, take it for what it's worth, but I know others on here have had similar run ins where they were accused of getting penny items out of the overhead. Also, every corporate rep you talk to is different so you may get lucky, especially if they call the store and the manager doesn't cough up that the item came from the overhead. I try to call corporate as little as possible, but if it is something you really want/need then give it a shot, you have nothing to lose. You ended up getting it for last clearance price, so while it is frustrating, that is already a damn good deal IMO. I would rather continue getting .03 deals with the occasional penny deal than have them change the policy because of too many people calling on trying to get stuff for a penny. Again, just my .02.

Thank you for your input and I agree about calling I never do it was just the treatment. She approached me like a thief after waiting 45 minutes and no one being able to figure out what to charge. I paid last clearance price last month on a .01 vanity with no problem. Everything I bought this time was on the same shelf, I think just someone's hiding spot. I did just try to buy 1, all the other in the pic are where they were trying to ring it up for a different price. Hell, I paid 199.00 for one that looks like this one but for a double bore door from HD earlier yesterday (for my front door) this one was for a single bore for my side door. I would have been okay from the beginning paying last clearance price. I guess I just need thicker skin to shop HD.

And did find out it wasn't a wreck that caused the I65 shut down, it was a man that decided to climb the Interstate sign, caused a 3-4 hour shutdown. I wouldn't have even been in that store!!! Damn must have been something in the air for attitudes in Tennessee.

This is not uncommon. I have sold tons of things from home depot. People still get deals better than they could ever find. I'm all for it.

I've been striking out on the 40V display models. I found one sitting in the returns area but the manager refused to sell it to me. I told them I would pay a fair price for at least the battery but they insisted that it had to go back, since it was a penny. I think someone was keeping it for themselves. At two other stores, they said that they couldn't sell them because they were still carrying the item. This is strange because they already filled the spot with something else. Maybe I'll keep checking back.

Here is a picture of the penny garage door opener people where asking for. Also, I think the HD220 should be a penny as well as they went on sale the same time.

Koagrl struck a chord that is similar to my story lately. Employee's & management approach you like you stole something. Very rude and then don't even know what to do about the situation. Then try to charge more than the last clearance price. Very annoying. I've been "caught" 3-4 times in the last two weeks and it's always oh we can't sell it and you're trying to steal from us. I informed my father about how to look up items and him or I are in the local HD every other day on the computer looking. I have never found a penny deal at this store. The manager approached him and informed him neither my father or I would ever get a penny deal as he had informed his loss prevention staff about us and they had been told to watch us the entire time in the store. The same store my father and I collectively spend ~15K a year in for the last 10 years (we remodel homes on the side and never use Lowes). If they approach me or harass me corporate will be getting a call about that and then I will probably strictly go to Lowes and only go to HD to find deals.

If anyone wants to sell one of the Schlage locks at a fair price let me know. I could use one and they are not clearance at any store around me. (60014 IL)

These all seem to be full price in my neck of the woods too. Searching for the faucets people are posting as well but all are still full price.

I did pickup 2 more of the penny Ridged 8" tile blades so I didn't go home empty handed this morning. These blades are the only things I've found that are a penny in my seaches thus far.

This one was just sitting on the clearance shelf surprisingly and picked up another tile blade that was put in hardware by mistake. Also got some more soaker hoses although I already have way to many. Will be good to give away to people tho.

I would get me a cart or to and go shopping and leave it so someone has to put it back.

I found one of the Temp20 faucets locally but am still unable to find any garage door openers. If anyone has an extra, please let me know. Not sure how much longer mine has!
