Here is a picture of the penny garage door opener people where asking for. Also, I think the HD220 should be a penny as well as they went on sale the same time.

The rigid generator prices dropped as well, now if I could only find one.

Others have posted the mobile organizer but this is still out there too.

Koagrl struck a chord that is similar to my story lately. Employee's & management approach you like you stole something. Very rude and then don't even know what to do about the situation. Then try to charge more than the last clearance price. Very annoying. I've been "caught" 3-4 times in the last two weeks and it's always oh we can't sell it and you're trying to steal from us. I informed my father about how to look up items and him or I are in the local HD every other day on the computer looking. I have never found a penny deal at this store. The manager approached him and informed him neither my father or I would ever get a penny deal as he had informed his loss prevention staff about us and they had been told to watch us the entire time in the store. The same store my father and I collectively spend ~15K a year in for the last 10 years (we remodel homes on the side and never use Lowes). If they approach me or harass me corporate will be getting a call about that and then I will probably strictly go to Lowes and only go to HD to find deals.
Hey man I'll give you some advice from personal experience. My mother is a property manager thst runs 23 houses. They use anywhere between 1k-5k per month on various supplies. This exact thing happened to them and she called up corporate and they said they would look into this. After a couple weeks they contacted her back stating that the stored denies doing anything wrong. Home Depot then proceeded to politely tell her she was lying about her sales at home Depot.
This pissed her off so she didn't do business with them for 2 months and went to Lowe's exclusively. She then emailed the person that was over her case with 23k worth of receipts just in those 2 months. Granite, she did 2 full kitchen remodels in those 2 Kostas to get that price that high. Once they got wind of this, an regional executive (works over 3 hours away from our location) contacted her and apologized for everything and told her to contact her with any concerns from her on out.
Long story short, my mother's home Depot credit card gets 10% (not 5%) and a ton of extra discounts that others don't get. She of routinely gets kitchen cabinets and countertops for 30-40% of what they charge. If u do alot of business with them, you have more pull than you think you do.

I located these on my lunch break but didn't have time to get them down and check out so I am going to try my luck after work.

Great story....I just don't get store managers attitude with penny items...if they know HD policy is honor it....then why hassle the customer....just own up to it and get situation corrected with their penny stock issue being on floor...
I have been to some store where cashier, managers are super nice and once they seen penny scan in...they let it go and honor it....
but other stores...its like a MMA fight...from head cashier, assistant manager to store manager. thereby sometimes gets customer to fight even more for the penny items...even though it may be $$ not worth it...but the confrontations dished out by management is now not about penny items or price....rather on a personal level of arguments, verbal fights, treated like criminals...challenge to see who is going to win....never mind the item is only $5...ringing up a penny.....Now its all turned into a psychological will to see who can show who...and most of all...the disrespect shown to customer who try to get penny items.

It is not in our best interests to put up a big fight over penny items that were cheap at full price. I only do it for big ticket items. The more people act like it is their right the sooner corporate will shut it down.

Agreed. I let a temp2o almost immediately go because it wasn't worth the fight. I mean... Who knew it would ring up a penny? The guy said it would go to habitat for humanity. Hard to fight with that, though seems a little fancy for the cause.

I agree but what I have been told by corporate, the one time i actually called them because them manager was an ***, is that it is up to the stores discretion on selling penny items so it does vary by store. They don't HAVE to sell you penny items technically per corporate. I still just go to self checkout quickly and avoid issues.

I have never called corporate and everytime I am confronted about a penny item I let it go with one exception. The echo 500t backpack blower I couldn't find when they were 60-80$ on clearance. Found one a month ago rang it through at a penny and no dice. Asked to speak to the manager, said please please please let me pay the last clearance price. Nope like $230 which is reconditioned price. Nope and let it go. I am in the fortunate position to not "need" any of these items or can afford them at full price. However, I am very frugal and will pick up a deal when I can but not argue when confronted, which makes the you're stealing attitude even worse. What if I was customer who didn't know and was ignorant of the situation? If you approach me like that I'd second guess going to your store, especially because it's your systems fault not mine.

I was at my local HD browsing the plumbing section for a fitting when a HD employee came up to the HD employee helping me and handed him a set of door handles.

He said to the guy helping me, "here you go, they just went to .01 so you know what to do"

I looked at him and said, " wow .01, what a great deal." He quickly responded, "oh, we don't sell them to customers for that." He went on to say that other HD employees watch for the high dollar items.

yes...I do fight the big ticket items....but sometimes our emotions can get the better of us and when in that zone...its full on deal...
about HD penny items.... going or shutting down....that's not going to happen..

as far as I can recall....HD penny labeling or whatever in their system has been going on for long time that I can remember...I had one penny item back in 1995 or so...and I wasn't even looking...just saw a yellow 1cent tag...and I checked with worker who worked that section...and he put on the 1cent label on...He said buy it...its not a mistake...
There's a reason HD has been doing this penny labeling for a long time...and its probably about the bottom $$ or some clever way of cheating the sytem???? maybe?? ....
if they wanted to get rid of penny items...is just easy....have everything not ring up penny....just show item not in system.....no more issues....end of the penny system.....maybe there is a clever accountant who knows why...and knows why HD wants to keep it that way...even though the problems with penny shoppers.

Appreciate the advice, things have slowed down for us recently. I bought my own house and am in the middle of a so far 3 year remodel. Somewhere between 800-1k a month at HD. Nothing to shake a stick at for a normal homeowner. Years past, my father and I remodeled duplex's and took homes that were plaster and lathe down to bare studs and built them back up. Lot's of time and money. Even before they had the pro desk, most of the employees knew me by name. That small town feel is gone now...............................:dunno: Now I'm just another face, who knows their store inventory better than the employee's and is trying to "steal" merchandise. Oh well going to visit that store on the way home and hope for 7" rigid blades and one of the seasonal employees on the chopping block not caring.

I don't know why all the hype about penny items. I am way more interested in .03 deals. I am a 1st time home owner and fortunately/unfortunately I bought a fixer upper, so I practically live at Home Depot. The 0.03 deals have saved me tons of money.

One time I took a circular saw to the cashier, knowing it was likely 0.01, and asked how much they would sell it for. I negotiated at $12, used the **** out of it, and sold it for $20 months later.

This is why I think some stores fight on penny items, because they want all those to go to employees as fringe benefits....

Home Depot Clearance-Small.jpg

Was in the Fayetteville, GA Home Depot today and saw these 1 pound Welding Rods packs on clearance. I bought all 5 of the E6013 rods for $1.43 for each one. Sorry about the glare from the flash.

As to Craigslists found a reseller selling Armstrong ceiling tiles that he said he paid $450 for (and would take $200) for the tiles.

When for a fact I know that those exact ceiling tiles were being cleared out at 9 cents each. Making his/her real total less than $12 (I hate the look of ceiling tiles, and wouldn't have taken them if they were for free)

Don't mind the reselling just no need to LIE about WHAT YOU PAID. Very tempted to call him/her out about it.

Why does that bother you and why would you call him out on it you don't know him and don't want the tiles. Good for him or her hope they make some money. At 200 someone will still save money.

When you check something that says no on hand quantity, how true is that

Most of time... It's pretty accurate from my experience.

Thanks! Finally scored my first penny deal! Hdx wood floor cleaner. It was up front next to the self service registers marked as 1.00 with new SKU's written in marker on each one. And the barcode was X'd out with a marker also. I took all of them, scanned them and it worked. Came up as .01. Paid and left with no issues. Popped my cherry!

Congrats! Feels good doesn't it. haha. I scored my first penny deal last weekend and picked up another one this morning. It's quite fun! Still trying to get the hang of using the HD system but so far I pretty much just search for those items people are posting on this thread.

I agree with the exception that if it says 1.0, your luck of finding it is low. Either stolen or lost somewhere. At least that's my experience.

Just wait until you find something that had a 0 inventory count. For a laugh, go back and check the computer after you buy it...voila! inventory count of -1

That's exactly what I do....someone should make a post of their favorite search words with most luck

You've GOT to be the Penny King!!

I simply walk back to the Appliance section and use a computer back there. There is usually nobody back there and if there is, they are likely helping someone else. Haven't had an issue yet. The HD website is usually opened up to appliances so I simply alternate between the HD homepage and the Price Check App. If you notice the employee looking at you, just switch over to the HD webpage and act like you're looking at prices of refrigerators or something. Once they walk away, get back to searching for the deals. :pimpflash

Finally felt like I had one of your days. Lol yesterday I got 4 of those GDO (3 at one store), 2 Temp2o kits (different stores), 1 Temp2o shower head (these are just barely at $37 at a couple stores but most are full price), 1 Moen Finley kitchen faucet, 1 Pfister Kaylon shower head combo, and 1 Shark bite 3/4" Water Pressure Regulator.
Totaled up what "regular price" should've been and it came up to over $1600  Total spent? 3 cents. Those were for 3 of the garage door openers. Not bad for a rainy day

Question, are all of the Ryobi One Plus 18 volt chain saws a penny? The price check AP showed one for a penny but it was a different model number than the saw on the shelf

No. Only the old part number. It's an older sku so probably. Not much left

Tonight's haul

I have a similar haul from the other day - 2 of the Technician Boxes (for a total of 3 now), and 7 of the Husky Mobile Organizer Boxes (for a total of 9). I paid $8.38 and $3.83 for each of the above. Have they gone to a penny yet? I know where one of each are still sitting on a shelf - need to know if I need to go back and get them........Thanks, GrizzlyJMG

Pennies. 4 stores, South Jersey.

First ever temp2o find around here got taken before I could get to the register. And found one of the older Schlage touch locks, got to the SCO and there was no barcode, they ripped it off apparently. Oh well
